Dexton's Top 40 (17/04/2017) (Week 49)
Another #1 debut comes this week with Drake's Nice For What entering high at the top after probably being #41 last week Nice For What is my favourite Drake release in years tbh, way above One Dance and hence is this weeks #1! The official music video is also a solid 11/10 featuring a plethora of equally 11/10 women Unfortunately for Calvin & Dua, One Kiss falls (1-2) and continues Dua's trend of one-week-#1's after New Rules was dethroned almost immediately by Camila Cabello's Havana. George Ezra (2-3) and Panic! At The Disco (3-4) fall a place each, and Years & Years earn their first Top 5 hit with Sanctify (7-5). Blossoms spend a third non-consecutive week at #6 and despite peaking at just #5 have already entered the Top 20 YTD songs for my chart! Paramore, Flight Facilities, Khalid & Normani, and Shawn Mendes complete the Top 10! After spending 7 weeks in the chart, The Wombats have once again re-peaked as they climb up to #12 with Lemon To A Knife Fight - as well as their follow-up single Cheetah Tongue climbing to #18! Taylor Swift and Lauv also find new peaks within the Top 20 with Delicate (15-13) and Chasing Fire (22-15) climbing respectively. Ohter notable climbs come from Liam Gallagher, David Guetta & Sia, Shawn Mendes [Lost In Japan], Kodaline, Kygo & Miguel, and Keith Urban. Drake aside, 5 new entries debut in the chart this week from the likes of Virtual Self, Luke Million, Bebe Rexha, Sam Smith, and Client Liaison! Ghost Voices is a BJSC entry I kinda passed on, but has grown on me a lot this past week after stumbling upon it on YouTube Speaking of BJSC, Luke Million's Hypnotised featuring Last Dinosaurs is my entry for this month and debuts at #25. Bebe Rexha's 2 Souls on Fire featuring Quavo enters at #32 and is both Bebe and Quavo's first Top 40 entry this year! Bebe was last here with the #34-peaking Meant To Be featuring Florida Georgia Line, whilst Quavo scored a #12 hit on DJ Khaled's I'm The One! Sam Smith is new to my chart, whilst Logic grabs his third Top 40 single. Client Liason's World Of Our Love is a song I discovered whilst searching for BJSC potentials, but missed out to Luke Million George Ezra continues to dominate the album chart with Staying At Tamara's gaining a fourth consecutive week on top, but Luke Million's Come Together EP brings strong competition at #2! Come Together contains the amazing Hypnotised featuring Last Dinosaurs (#25) as well Alive featuring Fluir! Elsewhere the man of the woods is back into the Top 3 after a brief drop to #5, and Kylie's Golden falls clean out of the Top 5 (2-6). Not much else is really going on although Taylor's Reputation has left the chart for a second time. Hello Dexton!
The Drake song isn't bad, but it could be better. However, there are great debuts in your chart, like "Ghost Voices" and "Pray". Great chart as always! |

Hi Dexton!
Drake at #1, really? That's quite a disappointment to be fair though, I actually prefer it to almost everything he's done lately, but that's mainly because of the Lauryn Hill sample, I used to love that song back in the day I actually seriously genuniely just DON'T get why Drake is as popular as he is Of your other new entries, I'm loving 'Ghost Voices', I wish that kind of dance music would do well in the charts, instead of the tried and tested formulas that people generally stick to. Not that it's anything original but it's a throwback to early 2000s trance which I used to really enjoy. Dance music needs more variation! Good to also see Years & Years climb (it's really not getting as much love on here as it deserves) and Blossoms holding steady (again, not getting much love but then I wouldn't really expect it to on Buzzjack!) Great chart as always |

Hi!
Drake overtaking Calvin although tbf, Nice For What is actually pretty decent, so I wish it could have been that at Number 1 for 9 weeks over the DROSS that is Gods Plan Ghost Voices entering such an absolute song and easily one of my songs of the year so far, completely under appreciated it in BJSC smh Great Chart! |

I'm SHOCKED at Drake deposing "One Kiss" after just a week! You're getting in on the hype and propaganda Though I don't mind "Nice For What"; it's not Drake's best for me, but a huge step up from the dismal "God's Plan". It clearly connected with many though!
In general it seems we have pretty similar tastes - I'm more of an indiepop and dance music fan, along with good pop and certain urban! Not into the vast majority of rap these days. I'm a bit GUTTED that "Say Something" didn't make it to number 1 though 4 weeks for me. "Filthy" managed a week. George Ezra managed a couple with "Paradise" so we have that in common too but I'm disappointed in you for "FRIENDS" making it to #1 |

Hi Dexton!
Okay let's pretend I never saw that #1, glad One Kiss was #1 last week anyway! Look forward to it toppling Drake officially Nice to see Kodaline climbing, even if it is slowly - hope it can get a bit higher than that! Remind Me To Forget is growing on me as well, really wish it was doing more in the UK Great chart |

Hello Dexton! The Drake song isn't bad, but it could be better. However, there are great debuts in your chart, like "Ghost Voices" and "Pray". Great chart as always! Hey sergej! It’s the best he’s done in a long time Ghost Voices has only just hit me! Pray is great too, Logic really makes the song Thanks for commenting! Great chart as always Hi Mango! Drake is popular because he’s released a lot of great songs Nice For What debuting #1 officially doesn’t help the argument people keep making that anything he releases will go #1, but this genuinely deserves it! Ghost Voices probably won’t be a crossover hit like Cola ended up being but it’s still fairly huge now! I won’t say no to more variation though I thought Years & Years would have more support here but I suppose not Blossoms have done fairly well considering! I Can’t Stand It is another great track from them, I can’t wait for the next single/album! Thanks for commenting! hi Dexton! great to see Drake and Calvin doing really well here, top quality from both of them. Calvin will probs be my number 1 for a while. Ghost Voices finally entering too! top tune, seems to be gathering quite a following on buzzjack now. also like David Guetta climbing, another brill song from him great chart! Hi Dan! Both Drake & Calvin tracks are the best either of them have released in ages I think I will probably be banned if Drake’s album goes #1 here too tbh I can’t believe how much I slept on Ghost Voices before! It’s grown on me a lot recently, as has Flames Thanks for commenting! |

Hi Bridge! Drake will probably only get one week at the top now anyway! I also much prefer it to God's Plan Ghost Voices has grown on me a lot I feel bad for ignoring it in BJSC Thanks for commenting! George Ezra managed a couple with "Paradise" so we have that in common too but I'm disappointed in you for "FRIENDS" making it to #1 Drake propaganda? I love the samples in it and Drake himself is on point here Some of the newer rap is a bit dull I think, I can't get into Cardi B for example and I rarely enjoy the non-commercial releases from the likes of Post Malone, etc. Even grime's revival isn't doing much for me, some of it I like but I could easily live without Ramz, EO, and whoever else Say Something was stuck at #3 behind Filthy and Supplies! Along with 7 other tracks from Man Of The Woods in my chart on release week Hi Dexton! Okay let's pretend I never saw that #1, glad One Kiss was #1 last week anyway! Look forward to it toppling Drake officially Nice to see Kodaline climbing, even if it is slowly - hope it can get a bit higher than that! Remind Me To Forget is growing on me as well, really wish it was doing more in the UK Great chart Hi Pete! One Kiss is definitely the UK #1 this week which I'm really happy about Who would've thought a year ago today that Calvin would have two more UK #1s on the way? I'm still a bit unsure on Follow Your Fire, Brother was much more instant with me whereas this isn't sticking as much Remind Me To Forget is really nice... but Kygo and Miguel have done much better in the past I like it but I was kinda expecting more at first Thanks for commenting! “Quavo” Jack triggered HUNCHO I think it actually debuts tonight as Annie Mac's hottest record! I just heard their new song There's A Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)! I really like it but I'm a bit worried that their second album is becoming a bit too much like their debut.. not that that's a terrible thing I adore Blossoms but I was hoping for a bit more of a change in style. They've yet to top Blown Rose or Honey Sweet for me Good to see the Wombats doing well here... and Ghost Voices Cheetah Tongue should climb quite a bit next week! |
