Chart Analysis

Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa spend a second consecutive week at number one with 'One Kiss', and with nothing else coming close to it this week it should hang on for the big 400th anniversary special next week, stay tuned for that. It becomes Calvin's 24th week at the top in total, and so should pass the half-year mark in two weeks time, unless we get a surprise release from Avicii. Meanwhile TheFatRat stays put at number two with 'MAYDAY' (ft. Laura Brehm). At four weeks in the top two it is his longest top two stay, beating the three weeks that 'Fly Away' (ft. Anjulie) had, one of those at number one.

Drake climbs to number three with 'Nice For What' on its second week out, meaning it is already off to a better start than 'God's Plan', which dropped 4-7 on its second week, though eventually made its way back up to number four. The song matches 'Headlines' and 'Hold On, We're Going Home' as Drake's highest peak as a leading artist, and is his fifth top five hit overall, including features on two Rihanna songs, 'What's My Name' (#1 peak) and 'Work' (#2 peak). 'God's Plan' itself climbs to #13 on its thirteenth week in the chart, and it has not left the top fifteen since its release.

It has been over two years since Oliver Heldens last made the top ten, let alone top five, but 'King Kong' (HI-LO Touch) does it for him this week, climbing 11-4. It becomes his eighth top ten hit and sixth top five hit. This includes two number one singles, 'Melody' and 'The Right Song (Wombass)', the latter being his most recent top ten hit before this week. Virtual Self climbs a place to complete the top five. No other songs enter the top ten.

Following eight weeks bubbling in the lower regions of the chart, EDX's 'Jaded' has shot up, climbing 72-41-15 in the last two weeks following its appearance in Club Bizarre. With the song being at #15 this week it becomes his twelfth top 40 hit and eighth top 20 hit. EDX is also seen at #69 with 'We Can't Give Up', which now spends its 25th week in the chart despite never making it higher than #44, thus having more longevity than all of his top 40 hits, including former #1 'Touched'.

Amy Miyú also continues to rocket up the chart, jumping 40-19 this week with 'All Good' (ft. Rochelle). The song was announced as a BJSC entry for Vülkyria, thus kicking it off our potentials list, which aids its climb. As it charted before being sent to BJSC, it avoids the BJSC exclusionary rule which prohibits foreign entries from entering the chart until the completion of the contest. Although as it turns out none of the entries from BJSC 103 (or 104 as of yet) have done enough to enter my chart anyway.

Alongside EDX, another former Danaelandan BJSC entrant climbs into the top 40. Shadow Child with 'Ooh Tune' is in at #23 and becomes his first hit since former #1 and BJSC entry 'Climbin (Piano Weapon)', ending Shadow Child's three and a half year break from the chart. It is his third hit. Sofi Tukker jump in at #27 with 'Batshit', their fourth hit and first since #11 hit 'Best Friend'. One place lower are Mr. Belt & Wezol with what is now their eighth top 40 hit 'Let's All Chant'.

Climbing to #32 is drum n' bass producer Dimension, not to be confused with trance producer Dim3nsion who sits at #31. 'Black Church' becomes Dimension's first hit. At #33 is this week's highest brand new entry which comes from DJ Licious (yet another former BJSC entrant of ours too). 'Twisted Games' (ft. Jack Hawitt) follows his two top 10 hits 'I Hear You Calling' (#3 peak) and 'I Can't Stop' (#6 peak).

Outside the top 40 Nicki Minaj's double A-side charts at #47 and #52 for 'Barbie Tingz' and 'Chun-Li' respectively. Oliver Moldan finally followed up on 'High & Low' which was the end-of-year #2 for 2017, also with a double A although only 'Dope' charts, new at #57 this week. Other brand new entries come from BUNT., Dennis Lloyd and Saweetie.
