Will Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber remain at #1 for another week, or will DJ Khaled feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller finally get there with 'Wild Thoughts'? It could go either way this week especially as 'Despacito' is likely to receive ACR this week. Calvin Harris and friends with 'Feels' could overtake French Montana to complete the top three and Sigala could get his fourth top five hit with 'Came Here For Love' with Ella Eyre. Likely top 40 entries come from Selena Gomez feat. Gucci Mane with 'Fetish', The Script with 'Rain' and Demi Lovato with 'Sorry Not Sorry'.

In the album chart Ed Sheeran is looking for a fifteenth week at #1 with '÷' though he faces competition from the new EP from Coldplay 'Kaleidoscope' (if album chart eligible), grime rapper Bugzy Malone's third album 'King Of The North' and The Vamps' third album 'Night & Day'. Other album releases looking for the top 40 come from Oh Wonder, Mura Masa, French Montana and Joe McElderry.

Looks like a decent week for once, then - thank God!

Suppose newies will include The Script, Demi Lovato & Selena Gomez for certain, and maybe tracks from Yungen and Dua Lipa.

I thought one of the criteria is length, my impression was it needed to be 25 minutes or more to be considered for Album chart, Kaleidoscope EP is clocking in at 24:57 so possibly won't be eligible. Anyway the physical release is not available for 3 more weeks so probably won't be troubling the top of the chart even if it was eligible.

Official Rules seem to imply that Albums still need to be 25 minutes:
official rules eligibility

but the EP is too long for the singles chart as well is it not? will it chart anywhere??

EDIT: it says in the rules

QUOTE
Over 25 minutes OR more than four songs where the format does not qualify as a “Maxi” single or remix single as defined by singles eligibility.

seeing as the EP is five songs long and clearly doesn't qualify as a single, it should chart in the albums?

The OCC are oddly inconsistent with 5 track EPs, it's hard to know for sure whether it'll be eligible or not right now!

As timjimlee said, I doubt it'll be *too* high anyway considering it's digital only!

No, it has only just had its fifth chart week. The earliest chart where it could be affected would be the one on the 18th August. smile.gif

No, and even if it was it's 59p this week so would have an increase in sales.

I can see The Vamps being #1 this week with ease. I'm seeing fans buy 4 copies as each member has their personal album cover.

The rule is 25 minutes or four or more songs where the EP doesn't qualify as as a maxi-single (four tracks plus remixes or alternative versions of the 4 tracks). However the album must have a dealer price of £3.76 or more. On price grounds it would make the EP ineligible for the Albums chart as it is selling for £3.99 unless iTunes is almost giving it away for free... and it won't count as a single either as it has 5 individual tracks.

Edit: I should read the thread to the end before answering as other forum members have made the same post about the 25 minutes / 4 tracks rule! However the price rules should make it ineligible as it's not a physical release (if it was, it would qualify for the Budget Albums chart though only the physical sales would count on price grounds).

I don't understand, you say the minimum is 3.76 but the album is ineligible cos it's 3.99 (which is higher)???

Dealer price = price per unit charged to each shop
Price = price paid by a consumer.

If the price on iTunes is £3.99 then the dealer price being at the minimum of £3.76 is a profit of just 23p on each sale, suggesting the dealer price is actually lower.

So this weeks no.1 may actually be by a song that isn't the top selling/ most streamed song in the UK this week laugh.gif . As much as I hate Despacito I do hope it somehow clings on this week just so that doesn't happen.
