I'm guessing she will do the two while he's away. I would think he'd do the rest. Unless there will be five on the panel

Whether we think he should be doing it or not - he seems to be putting his own stamp on it very, very early on.

I know. I feel your pain Tess. cry.gif

Although in fact it wasn't just XF I gave up on all those years ago. I also stopped watching Britain's Got Talent and I'm a Celebrity. I just get bored of stuff if it's on for too long.

I've even stopped watching Saturday Night Takeaway. My husband used to moan the whole way through. rolleyes.gif

I think SCD & XF are on at different times until it comes to the live shows & I take Robbie wil have gone by then

Robbie was also quickly into his stride when it came to judging acts. His best lines included:

“That could put a glass eye to sleep.”

and “You perform like you’re in your bedroom getting ready for a night out. For me it was all the gear, no idea.”

Yes we watch Strictly too. smile.gif

I'll have to put XF on my Ipad and see if I can watch both at the same time. laugh.gif Or watch Strictly on Catchup on Sundays.

I can't imagine Sharon will do all the live shows, just the two RW is away for. There wouldn't be any point in his doing the auditions if he weren't there for the live shows. Those are the shows looking for the ratings.

Although I think because their personas are different it won't matter to RW about the editing. Gary has such a "whiter than white" persona that if he said anything mildly contentious on XF, it made the news

Whereas . Everyone knows that Robbie puts his foot in his mouth all the time. He has no filter so if he says anything inappropriate no one will be surprised. It's just Robbie being Robbie. laugh.gif

I think if anything those that only see the extrovert showman , will be surprised by the more thoughtful, compassionate version. He was saying on a video yesterday that he wants the boys group and I think they would be mad not to give that group to him but we'll see. He could offer the kind of advice and compassion that NMS was so lacking in back in the day

They're a married couple who co presented one of the morning TV programmes here ten years ago Elizabeth. smile.gif so the comment is just related to their being married and pretty zany I guess . It's probably accurate too. laugh.gif

Posted by: Sydney11 22nd July 2018, 06:14 AM

If they are half as successful as Richard & Judy they will be doing well, they were on the biggest sow on TV at the time, they are now replaced by Holly & Philip on ITV's This Morning . I always remember that some folk will hate R & A & some will love them, that is the way with Social media, usually it's more the haters club that express their views more widely , Robbie has done very well for the last 25 years & i have no doubt will continue to do so with or without their opinions

Simon Cowell has publicly acknowledged the special bond between Robbie and his fans, and we're sure that this played an integral part in his signing of him for the new talent show series.
Even if Robbie does end up bringing some controversy to proceedings, we're sure he'll style it out and take his fans along with him for the ride.

I just put a topic on upfront saying the same thing. if you sign up to XF you can't switch it on and off can you? It's not a 9 to 5 job.

Also presumably that was some high profile club they all went to. They haven't popped into a cafe. Press will be outside.

The thing to do is embrace the whole thing as an experience. I remember him saying a few years ago he was happy with the level of press he got now and the spotlight was off. For a short while up to Christmas it will be back on. I hope he/they are cool with that.

Not everyone thinks Ayda was the wrong choice

https://www.facebook.com/TheXFactor/

Caroline Charlton I was there last night and I also was negative about Mrs. Williams but she was amazing, injected some much needed humour into the panel and was good to have someone who isn’t in the business giving her point of view as we the public would. Amazing to see it all put together and all 4 judges were a lot more relaxed than what you see on the t.v. And another thing they really listened to the crowd too and a couple of times it swayed their decision.

For me it's all about the judges laugh.gif but what about the acts - are there any good people they're going to discover or are they all going to be rubbish?

Is there an un-ending supply of new talent and I wonder if the decision to make the auditions only in London is going to have an impact? What if you're 16 and can't afford to make the journey down to London? They could be missing out on all kinds of new talent.

I'm confident RW as a judge and Ayda will be brilliant and knowledgeable and compassionate - but the rest of the show I still have major doubts about. There was a reason I haven't watched this programme for ten years sleep.gif and I don't know whether the presence of RW will make that go away.

I'll watch it of course because of Robbie - but I'm not expecting to be blown away by the show - we'll see

I've applied a couple of times for tickets but haven't been lucky yet. I'll keep trying. I went in 2009 when he was on there singing Bodies - it was an amazing night and he was only on for three minutes. laugh.gif . Alexandra Burke was brilliant too. That was the week she beat him to number one. I'd like to go again. If it's meant to be I'll get tickets.

It seems obvious to let Ayda have the girls, Louis the boys and Robbie the groups ?

Ayda - The Over's ( I have no idea what experience she has coaching singers unsure.gif & ( doubt being Robbie's wife will count as experience laugh.gif )

Louis - Groups

Robbie - Girls

Simon - Boys

Or they might give Ayda the Boys to go against Robbie with the girls & have a bit of competition

I am thinking

Ayda - The Over's ( I have no idea what experience she has coaching singers unsure.gif & ( doubt being Robbie's wife will count as experience laugh.gif )

Louis - Groups

Robbie - Girls

Simon - Boys
Or they might give Ayda the Boys to go against Robbie with the girls & have a bit of competition
I have not watched it in yonks , I wonder if it's coming to it's natural demise in the next year or so unsure.gif

The only thing I was thinking is, could Sharon hel Ayda with her category? As she will be there for the live shows.

Posted by: elisabeth1974 29th July 2018, 06:20 PM

I am still wondering About Sharon O. Will she substitute Ayda? Will she be there for Robbie when he is in South America or will they have an additional panel member?

Posted by: Laura130262 29th July 2018, 07:10 PM

I thought Sharon was going to fill in for Robbie while he was touring but that might just be a rumour. Maybe everyone has guessed that. unsure.gif

Can anyone confirm - on the Six Chair Challenge - are all the judges present or is it just the one judge who is there doing the choosing?

I have tickets for Thursday night but I'm not going to take the day off work and queue all day unless I know that RW will be in the studio at the very least. smile.gif

I know - that's what I meant when I said the show has to be about the contestants not Robbie Williams however much I like seeing him.

I guess the thing to remember is all this stuff going on is just a thirty second snatch in the editing. He's going to get bored and he's going to do stuff. The Sun seems to think it's newsworthy to pick up every little detail of what's going on. Surely people aren't interested until the show airs are they? unsure.gif

Usually I completely ignore XF stuff. rolleyes.gif

It's kind of getting on my nerves having to pay attention to it this year if I'm honest!

The XF is usually a love hate relationship for most people , I usually hate it & have not watched it for years . I doubt Robbie will do anything for it's ratings, Strictly will always beat it hands down as most folk indoors of a Saturday night are old folks & they watch Strictly , it's as simple as that sleep.gif

I've hated it for ten years - it's hard to turn that around wink.gif

Even though I do genuinely like Simon Cowell - I always have. X Factor was my favourite programme on TV for years when it first started. We all used to watch it when the girls were young - every week.

Then it just got tired and I got fed up with the manipulation and OTT of it all. I wonder if this series will be any different? If it could be more honest - I could get on board. More honesty and less sensationalism I would like. Maybe that's not good TV. It's not aimed at my age group anyway. I think RW could shake it up a little but it shouldn't be so much about who the judges are should it? Shouldn't it be about the contestants? blink.gif

Anyway I do have tickets for Thursday so am going to go. I'll give my honest opinion once I've been. wink.gif

I gave up watching when the hysteria of the contestants took over , it is an OTT show but sure is high profile enough for Robbie to make his mark to a tv audience whether it be good or bad, it's a risk but I hope he can pull it off & maybe we will see him on some other tv shows in the future . Really interesting night at XFactor. We left at midnight and it still hadn't finished. Just got home at 1.30. Simon had the girls today and Louis the boys so Robbie will do his challenge tomorrow.

I'll write more tomorrow but just to say RW is an honest, compassionate judge who is taking the job very seriously. He offers constructive advice in a calm way.

Ayda did a good job too. She's certainly not reticent in giving clear constructive feed back.

He also looked beautiful and was very funny. He described someone's rich deep baritone voice as "lower than one of Simon Cowell's v neck jumpers". laugh.gif

I'll give you the details tomorrow. I have to be up for work in five hours. rolleyes.gif

So - last night then. happy.gif

We wouldn't get tickets for the lunchtime show - it was fully booked so we filled the day with tea/coffee/prosecco/shopping and dinner. tongue.gif

The lunchtime session was still going on at 7 o'clock so it was obvious we would be going in late. As it was -we were still queuing outside at 7.45. We got in - its quite cosy in Wembley Arena - 5000 people. We had good seats to the side and back. Could see the judges well. We were excited. yahoo.gif

Roycey the warm up guy started getting everyone warmed up and then explained what audience participation meant. Basically lots of noise and shouting out tongue.gif varying from "seat, seat seat" laugh.gif to "bring them back, bring them back". laugh.gif All very contrived.

I remember in 2009 when we went to XF to see Robbie sing Bodies, they were actually handing out banners for people to hold during the show with the names of the finalists on. dry.gif

We turned ours over and wrote "Robbie" on it in Sara's red lipstick and held that up when he sang. laugh.gif

So the show started at 9 (instead of 7.30). On come the judges. Biggest cheer for Louis. I could tell straight away Robbie was a bit tired but looking bloody marvellous. Big, solid, gorgeous but quiet. wub.gif Ayda looked lovely too. She said her shoes were killing her. laugh.gif

Louis was whittling down 17 lads to six. The show got under way. Atmosphere was similar to an amphitheatre in Rome ohmy.gif but although loud, no one was booing the acts but encouraging/respectful which I liked. I felt for the acts - some of them were very young (18). Most were mid 20s. Lots looked very nervous. First few were good and then we had a few not so good and the energy was sucked out of the room. Audience started fidgeting, Robbie had his feet up on the desk rocking back and forth eating. tongue.gif I started to think about what time the train was to go home. Then there was a break while the judges went out (presumably for a fag).

Roycey warm up man asked if anyone in the audience wanted to sing. One guy did and came on to sing an acapella version of Sweet Caroline. He did really well. Everyone got up to dance and they found a backing track for him to sing along to. With that the judges come back in - Robbie springs on stage and sings a verse with him and everyone else in the arena. Definitely the best bit of the night. laugh.gif

Then things got better on stage. A guy came on that was there last year apparently and was excellent at getting the crowd to its feet. He got excellent comments. A guy with a guitar and really clever lyrics caught my eye. Robbie loved him. The poor guy then fell off the stage. ohmy.gif. A guy came on in a suit, ladies wig, lipstick and high heels. He was excellent too. A guy with a really soulful voice sang Earth Wind and Fire September and the place was jumping. He was great. They all got seats. Then a few really good singers turned up and the tension went up as all the chairs were taken and Louis was swapping round. Several of the acts lost their seats but said they wanted to "fight" for their place . Robbie liked this attitude. cool.gif Atmosphere got very tense. No more larking about as the kids on stage wanted to keep their spot. It got very gladiatorial and very tense. In fact I was surprised at how tense it did get. I found myself wanting them all to get a seat. ohmy.gif

At this point it was nearly twelve o'clock midnight and we had to walk out on Mr Williams and run for the tube. We got the very last tube back to Morden. I got in at 1.30 - not sure how the others we left there got home. There were lots of kids in the audience. ohmy.gif So I don't know the very final result. There was still one lad to sing when we left.

I was (not surprised) but pleased that Robbie and Ayda are taking the judging so seriously. At the start there were a few very funny one liners at Simon's expense from Rob - he's s quick witted but after that there was no messing about. Robbie was very calm as a judge, very clear, warm, compassionate and encouraging. Several times he congratulated a particular singer but said they were in the wrong competition. Ayda was very direct with good advice. There was no bullshitting and no "joke" acts as in the past. There was great chemistry between the judges. They obviously all get on. Robbie was very complimentary of Louis. I can't imagine there being fire works between the judges. You can see they all respect each other. It will be interesting how it looks on Tv.

Oh - and he looked gorgeous last night. wub.gif

I would love to have seen Robbie do his Six Chair Challenge with the groups. I think he will have found it really hard because it is almost impossible not to get involved. It does suck you in. I hope he feels he did a good job.

Posted by: Laura130262 3rd August 2018, 11:46 PM

There was one good singer who gave a really pretentious answer when Louis asked him why he wanted to be on X Factor.

He gave this long rambling diatribe about suffering and how his stomach was full of the wings of others. wacko.gif

Robbie said to him "Ayda will testify that my stomach is full of chicken wings". laugh.gif

Gosh !! Laura, sounds like you & everyone else had a really long day , thanks for the explaining how the day went, poor Robbie must be totally exhausted & he will be even more exhausted when it comes to his turn for the 6 CC as he will really have to keep focused . I am dying to see what you think when you see the tv show from the day you spent there & how the edited version will appear to tv audiences. Interesting what you say about the judges , I think the Robbie we see live on tour will not be the Robbie we see on this tv show, I feel he will be a lot more serious about this role but witty with it .

Will Robbie be tired & need a holiday before Judges houses & therefore could it be a villa somewhere in Mexico where it all happens for both R & A coffee.gif

It's all very drama.gif

I'm pretty sure most of the Judges' Houses are specially rented out each year for the show anyway.

Judges houses are in September aren't they? I doubt they would have it in their real home. There's a danger you could get too attached to those you're about to send home. Swanky hotel in LA I would imagine .

I think it happened exactly as Simon said - right on the spur of the moment. One day they weren't doing it, the next day they were. In fact in Upfront a few weeks ago RW wrote "I've just agreed to something". I think that was either the World Cup performance or XF.

I don't think so.

Before the XF announcement he said there would be new music in the form of UTR3. Hopefully he'll still be able to do that so we'll get new music. cheer.gif

I don't think a new album is anywhere close at the minute.

Edit: maybe the Aussie boys are there to help with UTR3?

Odd then that he feels able to make a judgement on his brand new judging skills when he has no idea of his 28 year back catalogue. angel.gif

He got shafted to the Drivetime slot , I am sure he will find a really good excuse to justify why he was moved, something to do with ratings I believe , I bet he wil appear as a guest on the XF Extra show tongue.gif

I wonder if Robbie would ask GB? Return the favour?

It will tell you how little I can remember about the XF, Adele appeared on it in 2015 , I did not know that so it is possible she might do it for Ayda , & when it comes to Robbie, I have no idea , it has to be someone people will know pretty well in the UK

I'm not sure about letting them stay but I could imagine it being filmed there.

He said on Upfront he didn't want to get close to the acts until after Judges Houses because he would feel so guilty about turning them down. Allowing people to stay in your house - how could you not form some kind of a bond? It would make sense to film them there though.

It will be interesting to see what the general public make of it. But I'm not fretting over it.

Most people think X Factor is well past its sell by date anyway (including me) so I almost feel like Robbie/Ayda have nothing to lose.

If it bombs - well they gave it a go and they move on. If it succeeds, then their being as good as we said they were, has helped revive a few ratings.

I don't think it will make one bit of difference to his music career. Positive or negative. It's just a temporary distraction. A few months out of 28 years.

If it weren't for Ayda I think there is no way RW would have done it. But that's OK - they're going to give a go and see what happens. I think they're going to make a success of it. The thing about Robbie Williams is you’re never quite sure which Robbie you’re going to get – the out-and-out star or the Robbie-with-demons.

There’s also the fear that if he tries too hard to be nice to everyone the show will be dull.
He’s candid about not being entirely sure how he should play this new role, revealing that he ‘tried to do the mean judge thing’ at the start – and got himself in a right pickle.

Robbie Williams claims he's taking a big risk by putting himself on mainstream television each week while knowing he can unintentionally put his foot in it

‘I said something I thought would be funny, but instead everyone went “Oooohhh”,’ he says, sucking in his breath.’ Ayda agrees it was appalling.
‘I said to him, “Robert Peter Williams. Where did that come from? You’re not that person!”’ Robbie cringes a little, adding, ‘Then the make-up artist said, “Why did you say that?” And I got so panicked I went upstairs and threw up
.’ ohmy.gif

As Gary Barlow said it will be interesting to see how they edit the show cool.gif

I always think the XF is a show you cannot take too seriously but some do sleep.gif

Ayda Field on joining the X Factor and sending sparks flying with husband Robbie Williams

Ayda Field is an absolute blast. The ballsy, funny 39-year-old Californian actor, Loose Women star and mother of two joins her husband Robbie Williams on The X Factor judging panel this year and proves herself a match not just for him, but for Simon Cowell and this season’s other new judge, One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson. Before we meet I watch her calmly observe Simon going through contortions over the fate of two contestants, unable to choose between them. ‘Pardon my French, Simon,’ she smiles, ‘but you are f— ed. They both have to go through.’ And so they do.

‘I have zero filters,’ Ayda says as she plonks herself in a backstage chair. She is gym-honed and unlined, all glossy lips and blonde highlights, wearing a pant-flashing Halston dress and Saint Laurent spike heels. There the showbiz veneer ends. ‘Sorry, I just had to shove some food in my gob,’ she continues, her LA accent at odds with vocabulary learnt from Stoke-born Robbie. ‘That was intense, wasn’t it? It’s like The Hunger Games!’

Ayda looked like the wild card when the judging panel was announced – perhaps there just to steady her famously erratic husband – but she may be its ace in the hole. ‘I think I bring a lot of feistiness and girl power, and a completely different dimension,’ she says. ‘Obviously, musically I am the least experienced of the group, but in terms of making television shows, I am probably the second most experienced next to Simon. And empathetically, I come from a different place. I still have to hustle to get jobs, audition and put myself out there. So I am not removed from the contestants’ process like the other judges.’

Ayda was making the NBC comedy-drama series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip when she met Robbie in 2006 in LA. He had already become the UK’s most successful solo performer after quitting Take That in 1995, but was not well known in America and was also still in the grip of various addictions. After his clean-up and their 2010 marriage – which we’ll come to shortly – she very much became ‘Mrs Robbie’, effectively in his shadow, especially after the birth of their daughter, Theodora (Teddy) in 2012. The first hint that she might be as lively a personality as her cheeky-chappie husband came when they live-tweeted the birth of their son Charlton (Charlie) in 2014.

‘It was totally my idea!’ says Ayda. ‘Well, it was a collaboration. I’d been there for hours as they had to induce me and we were so bored.’ It was her idea to wear Swarovski-encrusted red Louboutin heels in the stirrups, to look stoical while Robbie moaned, and to ask him to stop singing Let It Go from Frozen as she went into labour. ‘I am proud I delivered the line while actually crowning,’ she says. ‘We constantly take the mick out of each other and come up with mad ideas. It means our son was born to pure joy and laughter instead of pain and anxiety. Because a 17-hour induced labour is painful.’ Days after, she watched Robbie tell Graham Norton that the birth was like watching his favourite pub burn down. ‘Yeah, not the most beautiful description of my vagina,’ she mock-grimaces.

After supporting roles in the UK TV series Fresh Meat, Power Monkeys and Paranoid (all 2016), Ayda really came into her own as a guest, then as a presenter, on ITV’s chat show Loose Women. She has shared photos of her husband naked, admitted to faking orgasms with him and revealed that – having had his development arrested at 16 when he joined Take That – he had never visited a supermarket or peeled a potato before she met him. She got Robbie on as her wingman when she interviewed Simon for Loose Women and it was the most relaxed Simon has ever seemed.

I’m quite square. I’d never been with anyone with addiction issues before and it was like being on a very fast Ferris wheel
Ayda had known Simon’s partner Lauren Silverman and their four-year-old son Eric since meeting them at a ‘Mommy and Me’ class two years ago in LA. ‘We clicked because we have similar circumstances, we’re always moving between here [London] and there,’ she says. ‘Our husbands have very similar personalities and our kids are really good friends: they are like the three amigos.’ Simon – who as a record executive turned down Take That in 1990 – had long been chasing Robbie for The X Factor and after the Loose Women interview suggested they both join the panel.

‘Rob and I have always wanted to work together because we are blissfully co-dependent, he is Batman to my Robin and vice versa, he leans on me and I lean on him,’ Ayda says. Plus – who knew – The X Factor has a crèche. ‘Our kids can come to work with us and hang out with their best mate, Eric,’ she says. ‘As a mum, that’s a huge thing for me. What I want in my career is different to what I wanted when I was 21. It’s got to be something that keeps my family together, that allows me to be present in their lives.’

She was born Ayda Sabahat Evecan to American film producer Gwen Field and Haldun Evecan, a Turkish advertising exec, who left when she was three, and died in 2014 when she was eight months pregnant with Charlie. ‘We had started to reconnect and he met Robbie,’ she says. ‘The last conversation I had with him, I told him he was getting a grandson, because he only had girls.’ Ayda grew up with her half-brother, Dylan, from her mother’s second marriage, and she has two half-sisters thanks to a later relationship of her father’s.

‘I kind of owe my mum everything, she’s the one that was there,’ says Ayda. ‘I never felt any judgment or anger growing up.’ She was a straight-A student and a track athlete, and never planned to go into the entertainment industry. ‘Because it’s the biggest cliché in LA, and I had seen my mother and my stepfather, who is a gaffer [a head electrician on a film set], struggle,’ she explains. She went to Paris to study law and improve her French, but one summer she attended an audition on a whim, and ended up cast in the American soap Days of our Lives.

Ayda on the cover of Stella

Ayda describes herself as ‘quite square, a good girl’ who has never done drugs and barely drinks, so when she met Robbie on a blind date in 2006 they didn’t immediately click. She’d already been at a party when friends dropped her at his bachelor pad in Los Angeles. ‘The house was dark, he was weird, he had all these tattoos,’ she says. He drove her back to the party – ‘I’m sure it was in his mind to dump me there’ – but they got talking and ‘it was the first time I had ever felt understood by another human’. Robbie later stated independently that he’d felt the same thing.

They also, at some point, got into a hot tub, where Robbie noticed her ‘killer body’ and she noticed that the French tattoo on his chest, which was meant to read à chacun SES goûts or ‘to each his own’, was misspelt. Robbie had quit alcohol in his early 20s, but that night his drug problems became clear. ‘I’d never been with anyone with addiction issues before and it was like being on a very fast Ferris wheel all of a sudden,’ says Ayda. ‘It became apparent he was not in a good place.’

Joining her husband Robbie, Dermot O’Leary, Louis Tomlinson and Simon Cowell on the new season of The X Factor

A few weeks after they started dating he dumped her to undergo his second, and ultimately successful stint in rehab. They got back together, but twice more ‘he got cold feet and unceremoniously dumped me again. What a cad!’ Finally, one of Robbie’s exes, Cameron Diaz, suggested he give the relationship another go. Ayda was already in love, and gave him another chance.

She is unfazed by Robbie’s long list of conquests, which allegedly includes Nicole Kidman, Rachel Hunter and two Spice Girls, as well as Diaz. ‘Whenever we turn on the TV, particularly in England, we’ll see somebody Rob has slept with,’ she says. ‘It even happened in a Mommy and Me class: he dragged me into the ball pit going, “Psst, I slept with that mum but I don’t remember her name.” I was like, “Ugh, you dick.” Rob’s slept with lots of people, but it doesn’t bother me because what happens before you meet someone is part of their journey. And if I were Robbie Williams before I met me I would be shagging everything.’

Undoubtedly, their shared experience of therapy helps make their relationship work. Robbie has had plenty of analysis to deal with his weight issues, self-esteem and substance abuse, while Ayda has been going for years. ‘Listen, my dad left me, my mom is crazy, I’m from LA, a pop star dumped me three times and I’m an actress who gets rejected constantly,’ she laughs. She does think that working on their own problems makes it easier for them to empathise with each other, and though they disagree plenty, they never shout or go to bed angry with each other.

The received wisdom is that she saved Robbie. ‘Listen, at the end of the day Robbie saved himself,’ she says. ‘No one can make you get clean.’ But she will take credit for helping him keep to a healthier lifestyle. Their diet is ‘mostly plant-based but the odd cheeseburger does happen’, and they are both gym bunnies. She likes the occasional glass of wine or tequila and he is fine with that. He also trusts her to tell him the truth on professional matters, and listened when she advised him to rejoin Take That in 2010. ‘A lot of that had to do with guiding him to a more evolved place within himself, and letting go of past feuds, past negative feelings,’ she says.

He has proved a natural dad, ‘really hands-on, playful, funny. He tosses the kids around and they love it: I try it, and they cry and go, “That’s not fun, Mom.” He’s there for bath times and tuck-in and stories and snuggles, he does the school run when he can and the pickup when he can: it’s easier for him in LA because he’s not recognised as much. He is very good with a nappy. Which will be good for him when he is older: I won’t have to change him, he can do his own.’ (Robbie is five years older than her.)

A third child is ‘definitely, potentially, absolutely 100 per cent’ in the offing. The prospective new baby will join 10 dogs, two cats and a tortoise, divided between their vast homes in LA and London. ‘We like to stay together and go where the work is, but at some point I think the kids will go, “This sucks,” and dictate where we end up,’ Ayda says. She and Robbie are fortunate to adore each other’s mothers, so they have a babysitter in each country.

For the moment, The X Factor will keep them in the UK, and when this season ends she would love to go back to acting. In Fresh Meat, she played student Kingsley’s older lover and I ask if the parts are getting fewer and less glamorous as she approaches 40. ‘I’m sure they are, but I have always wanted to be the funny girl not the glamour girl,’ says Ayda. ‘And I kind of think it’s funny when I’m cast as a woman past her prime. You’ve gotta be able to laugh at yourself. Rob and I constantly laugh at ourselves. And each other.’

‘The X Factor’ begins on ITV on Saturday 1 September

X-TRA SPECIAL X Factor fans ‘excited’ for new series and hail ‘best judging panel ever’ as Robbie Williams takes centre stage
THE new series kicked off with an almost all-new judging panel

Posted by: Sydney11 2nd September 2018, 05:30 AM

You see I hate the X Factor formula & after watching it last night nothing happened to change my mind, the contestants were dreadful , they had about two or three decent singers that went through , they should get rid of the 'overs' category as their sell by date is well gone past in terms of a music career sleep.gif , I think all the silly carry on overs the years has spoilt the show, they depend too much on the judges to keep the show entertaining which it's not. I think the XF lacks something, is the formula of a show where people just come out on stage & sing over , I find Britiains' Got Talent a way better show & they have singers but it just works better, maybe XF will improve as the weeks go by , I hope so smile.gif

I love Robbie & would always watch him, I thought Ayda did well, Louis was actually very good & Simon was Simon tongue.gif , still there still seems to be an audience for the XF if the press reviews are anything to go by. The XF is gonna be a bit of fun for Robbie & he seems to be thorough;y enjoying the experience , especially having the lovely Ayda by his side & I have no doubt he will go back to doing what he does best once this is over & get back to his day job . Did I read somewhere that he has got the boy groups , it will be interesting to see what he is like as a mentor

SCD ( which I love ) starts next weekend which I know I will be watching live & will be hitting the record button for the XF ...

It had the feel good factor last night and I really enjoyed seeing RW and to a lesser extent Ayda but I definitely wouldn't watch it if they weren't on it.

I'm going to persevere through the whole series though wacko.gif because Robbie is on. Thought he came over really well last night. Very kind, compassionate, articulate and sweet as always.

There seemed to be a lot of negativity towards the "chemistry" of the panel which I thought was ironic given that two are married, they're all friends and have known each other a good many years. Maybe because it was week one and they are finding their feet.

I still think RW will be excellent on it throughout the series. It remains to be seen what the general public make of it. as with everything - time will tell. smile.gif

I have to say that I agree with this review but in fairness I do not think we were expecting it would be any different .. it was ok though & last night was an improvement, the reviews could have been a hell of a lt worse, hopefully th equality of the contestants will improve as the weeks go by but I think SCD will slaughter it in the ratings next week . I cannot see the XF as a show lasting too many more years, ITV must still be getting s lot of revenue from advertising. Are there are a lot of ads in the ITV version, we get it through Virgin Media here & there are tons of breaks for ads, drives me nuts/

I feel exactly the same way Laura , I will watch it painful as it is ...my record button will be busy next Saturday night tongue.gif

I think they need to get rid of that show , BGT has in fairness replaced it long ago & I think the best singers out there are holding out for that show & not really auditioning for XF ...maybe the talent will improve as the weeks go by ...

Posted by: Laura130262 4th September 2018, 11:03 PM

I don't watch BGT anymore either. Nor Saturday Night Takeway, nor I'm a Celebrity.

I've loved them all at some point but I can't keep watching the same thing for ten years. I get bored.

I love Strictly. We didn't watch that from the start. We're relatively new to that. Only about five or six series in. I'm not bored of that yet and last year was my favourite series ever but everything has a shelf life and that will peak too and decline just as XF has.

It will be interesting to see how XF evolves over the next few weeks.

I read that there are only to be six live shows (don't know if this is true) but if it is, I can understand why RW is gutted to be missing two of them.

Posted by: elisabeth1974 5th September 2018, 03:54 AM

if they really got the colported 10million it is a stint well payed and despite those who will hate him willhate him more those who love him will love him more. I can imagine that new chances are infor TV, then UTR3, the David Walliams musical...

What might backfire fan wise is the Ayda invo;vement. She is good but better he supports her in an independent acting career to make herself a name. She is able to do that. There have been a lot of exampled of double packs and they seldom pay off. Well, he had not done x-actor otherwise, I know, at least this is the story they tell.

Posted by: Laura130262 5th September 2018, 11:06 PM

I'm seeing a lot of criticism of Ayda sleep.gif

But like I said - they're professionals. They will have to keep trying and see if they can turn it around.

They will have known what to expect. This weekend will be another blow when they lose against SCD.
But they might have expected this too.

I am hoping that RW is on the TT album.

Posted by: Sydney11 6th September 2018, 06:08 AM

The XF has it's following, some folk love it , it's a great opportunity for Ayda to get herself known . I like to see Robbie working in the UK on something other than than his day job which we know he will head back , I would like to have seen him on BGT's show as a judge but Ayda would never have got that slot I think . In fairness Simon has put a lot of time & effort into the XF & he will know when it's had it's day & that will be that. The show will get more interesting once the better singers start filtering through but I worry that Ayda will be out of her depth as a mentor , she lacks experience in that area , being married to a superstar who makes his own choices at the end of the day is not quite the same as mentoring someone who is only starting out in the music industry, the criticisms overall have not been that bad, at least they did not get totally slated by the press so that has to be encouraging. The ratings will drop this weekend as Strictly starts & that continues to be a big favourite tp draw in the viewers ...

There were two acts on there I actually cared about tonight.

Tommy the guitar guy was at the Six Chair Challenge I saw. I love his quirky lyrics. He's my favourite f all four auditions so far. He actually fell off the stage in his excitement on the night we were there ohmy.gif

I'm rooting for Scarlett too because she's from Epsom. smile.gif

Programme was OK again for me tonight. Not great but OK.

I am wondering how this will turn out at the end for Robbie. With his personality everything becomes the RW show at one point. But when he was on his peak people in the majority loved it, now it seems to turn the majority off. It is all very PC these days, anything he isn't. At least the x-factor gets a lot of headlines everywhere.

Very true what you say Elisabeth , Robbie will go back to his day job , I doubt this will have any impact on his own career , some folk love him , others do not & that has always been the case . I guess they are having family time now with the new baby & then it starts again with the XF & his tour. How many of the live shows is he doing , I see nothing definite about it except that Sharon O is stepping in for him , is he going to miss them all , the live shows are always better than the auditions as the silly acts are well gone by then , I would not mind seeing him on those

Nice pic from Metro.uk

Posted by: elisabeth1974 10th September 2018, 09:16 AM

I think Sharon is an additional judge. he will miss two live shows out of six.
I have not watched the x-factor yet, but I assume that they have cut it so that it is controversial and who is giving this away better than 'without filter' Rob.
Let's see where this will end.
I have to say that I am wondering - curious me - if indeed Teddy will be a flower girl at this wedding and if he will then stop the protection of her at least. Somehow I cannot believe this after the post of Ayda about Coco.

Quite enjoyed it tonight. Really liked the choir and Georgia the blonde girl.

I had a conversation with my youngest daughter about XF today as she said she was looking forward to watching it tonight. I asked her what she thought about the new panel.

She thought Robbie and Louis "lovely" but wasn't warming to Ayda.

I asked her why and she said 1. She was a big fan of Nicole Scherzinger and missed her on there. 2. She felt Ayda would have nothing to say if her husband were not sitting next to her. She felt she referenced him too much.

I don't think that Ayda is coming across as well as I thought she would on screen. I'm a bit surprised I have to say.

I'll be interested to watch the live shows and if they capture her personality. Especially the ones Robbie won't be at.

In fairness I doubt Ayda would have got the job without Robbie , they desperately wanted Robbie , I worry for her on the live shows as the mentors really have to do their job then to get the best out of their protege's & Ayda does not have that experience , she is doing ok up to now & she is very nice to the contestants but nice will not be enough going forward, the only thing is that the cameras will be focused a lot on Sharon as she makes good tv. I like Louis , he is really good as a judge. The guy taking off his shirt made me laugh, talking about showing off & it all going wrong & Robbie telling him to tone it down laugh.gif

The contestants were better this week , they have had very little groups on so far so I am guessing we will see more of those fairly soon as that is the category Robbie has . I it will be interesting to see if Robbie will get a bit more passionate abut the process when they have to start eliminating acts, right now he looks very laid back about the whole thing tongue.gif

Not really XF related but the story is told via the show so I am posting it here sleep.gif

Ayda Field reveals Robbie Williams dumped her three times: ‘I was heartbroken’

Ayda Field has said that her husband Robbie Williams ‘put me through heartbreak’ by dumping her three times. She opened up about the early days in her relationship with Robbie during the final round of X Factor auditions. In tonight’s episode, contestant Chloe Jane McAllister, 18, tells the judges she will be singing Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware because she likes ’emotional music’. She says: ‘I love emotional music, something that means something. And everyone’s been through heartache.’ Ayda replies: ‘Rob put me through some. Rob dumped me three times. I might feel this.’ When Simon Cowell expressed his shock, Ayda said: ‘What a bad man. I know we’re all thinking it.’ Chloe performs the song while playing the piano, and her moving audition definitely gets to Ayda. Chloe gives a beautiful audition , ‘I felt the heartbreak,’ she tells her. ‘I felt it so much that Rob will be sleeping on the couch tonight because it made me remember what an awful human he was to me.’
Robbie stuns Simon with a story about his daughter. He says: ‘Do you know what? I’ve got a daughter and her name is Theodora Rose Williams and she’s five years old and she is my life. ‘I go to piano lessons with her every Friday and I’m thinking about you being that same person, learning your craft, and I wanna show the person who means the most to me in the world exactly what they can achieve when they put their mind to it and they practice, because you’re the person that I want my daughter to be like.’

Will their fellow judges Simon and Louis Tomlinson be equally impressed by her? Well Simon does label her ‘boring’… The X Factor airs tonight at 8pm on ITV

Though he's never out on time
Night after night
Line after line
He'll be fine

The famous Mr. Jones

He really should relax
He's due a heart attack
Though there's no heart to attack
Is it an act?
No one knows
The naughty Mr. Jones

In a world full of weird, you're the oddest ever
Heard you brought everyone here so much pleasure, clever
We all know that you know you're a national treasure
Mrs. Jones you made the best boy ever, ever
E-V-E-R

He's careful with his weight
Pushes food around the plate
He can never pass as straight
Ask his mates
How it goes
The careful Mr. Jones

Even his mother thinks he's odd
He hasn't got a proper job
But he says neither did God
And he's the Lord
As it goes
The mighty Mr. Jones

In a world full of weird, you're the oddest ever
Heard you brought everyone here so much pleasure, clever

I think with the XF thing - you take on the job and maybe you underestimate how hard it will be. As it starts going through the weeks and you begin to get to know the acts and who you're mentoring - then you start to care on a personal level.

Then you have to start crushing people's dreams - no one would find that easy. Unless you were an automaton anyway.

Add a new baby into the mix with all the feelings that brings. It would get emotional. sleep.gif

they are quite unspectaculair this time with the guest judges so far. David Walliams for Rob, the 50 whoever guest judges for Simon including ex girl friends, and Stacey whoever for Ayda? Other than her I think the girls group is very strong.

We know David here in the Netherlands when we watch BGT. But who is not watching UK shows will not know him. I also only know him because he is linked to Rob just as James Corden in the past.
To be honest, there are not even many people who know Simon Cowell outside the UK and the US. In Germany the equivalent to x-factor is called Germany seeks the superstar. Their Simon Cowell is the founder and ex-leadsinger of Modern Talking who is producing almost every huge star in Germany. His name is Dieter Bohlen. He could be as mean as Simon. But the last season e mellowed. I watch this sometimes during ironing (Holland also broadcasts German TV). And since ten years they say the show is over and done. But then the next year it starts again and again people queue in the hope of fame. After one number one single 99% are gone

As a show I cannot warm to the XF.. i doubt it will be on must sees for 2019 😄
Nice that Robbie is showing the serious side of himself which is good and not what people are used to seeing so that is refreshing

Whether it was contrived or not - it was a lovely moment. I love that Mr Williams. He's such a sweetheart. wub.gif

Watching the boys Six Chair Challenge on TV compared to seeing it in real life confirmed two things:

1. They are cutting down the song time from three minutes to twenty seconds and that makes for a very choppy show.

2. Other than Tommy the guy who fell off stage - I think the boys group is very weak and there's no one there that I could imagine winning.

My two favourites are Shan in the girls section and Ricky in the overs.

We get to see the groups next week and Judges Houses.

To be honest what with the time difference and technology - what's to stop RW doing the show live from South America?

After his gigs? He never goes to bed for hours anyway. He could be linked into the show. It would enable him to keep some level of control anyway.

I know a boyband were manufactured for Judges Houses from some of the young lads.

He has great eclectic taste in music so I would like to think he can come up with something original other than normal boyband fare.

I think this story has come about by his mentioning on Upfront that Ayda said to him he should stop reading Twitter.

I was actually wondering whether XF has a duty of care to it's young singers about the affects of Trolls on social media during the show. Specifically tonight I noticed Bella got loads of really awful comments on Twitter - she's only 19 and hasn't had a lifetime to get used to it like RW. If they were my kids I would worry for them. I watched that when it was on. I really like Ayda and she came across really well (very down to earth and honest). I still haven't watched the X-Factor though - I just can't bring myself to watch any reality shows anymore (apart from The Apprentice now and again when I'm feeling really depressed and want something to make me laugh my tits off!).

Posted by: Laura130262 21st October 2018, 06:30 PM

Sorry I've been so late commenting - I was babysitting a six month old and missed loads. laugh.gif I've watched it back on ITV hub to see what I missed.

1. Robbie looked bloody gorgeous wub.gif

2. I think he did really well as a judge - nice and lively, enthusiastic, kind, constructive- clearly having a ball.

3. Can't believe I'm discussing XF either wacko.gif but getting that out the way I quite enjoyed last night.

4. I thought Shan was the best by some margin, enjoyed Dalton too. Thought Danny Tetley did well to get over the hitch. He did better than I thought.

5. Of Robbie's acts I thought the choir were brilliant and Misunderstood good. Was really disappointed with the girls and if the imaging was down to Robbie - he needs to sort it otherwise they'll be out before they've even begun. The boyband were OK if a little bit too goody goody. I heard him say to them last week "I want more anarchy" and I think he's right. I think it was a solid start for his acts.

6. No idea who is going as there seemed to be loads of equal quality.

Ratings are meh though. Less than 5 million compared to double that on Strictly.

Hi Kath

Lovely to see you back , wink.gif

BB has to be about the worst show ever & one I refuse to watch... I am making myself watch the XF , I think Ayda might be the dark horse of the judges tongue.gif

You are right about the two girls, they were lucky last night, I guess they gt the youth vote & UV do not have the right look but neither did 1D until they left the XF & look at what happened at what happened to them.

Oh my goodness I struggled through this tonight wacko.gif

If Robbie weren't in it I would have switched off after fifteen minutes.

There was a big gap between some acts that were good and some that were poor. I was getting so bored in the middle of it - there was no energy there.

I think Rob will lose his boy band tomorrow - they were dire ohmy.gif

Brendan was dire. Janice was dire.

Tomorrow should be better - Kylie is on live.

I was surprised LMA Choir went. I loved them. sleep.gif I was sure the boy band were going.

Also - Louis has over 30 million Twitter followers. Why aren't they voting for his acts? I'm so surprised. He nearly lost another tonight.

I think Brendan could go next week.

Robbie needs to pull something out of the bag for United vibe or whatever they're going to be called. They got a reprieve tonight but need to be so much better next week. Not sure how he can do that when he will be halfway round the world.

Someone asked him on chat if he will be on XF at the weekend and he replied "I'm not sure".

So maybe he is going to try to squeeze it in.

So I just googled:

The first gig is in Santiago, Chile on Monday night. Chile is 7 hours behind London

The flight time to Santiago is 15 hours.

So if he stayed for both weekend shows and left straight after. Got a flight late on Sunday, he would arrive early Monday morning. Could be done.

First class, sleep all the way. It's possible isn't it.

He's flown all the way and back again from LA to Europe for one gig before.

Louis is young & trying to be taken seriously but does need to lighten up a bit , I am not an XF fan & would definitely not be watching the show it if the Williams due were not involved but one has to admit that there are many artists ( including Louis ) out there who have the show to thank for their careers . I was listening to Graham Norton talking about his show & the singers that come on his show & he said that is it very difficult for artists nowadays to get the exposure they need to either promote their albums or have the opportunity to perform . Niall Horan from 1D is doing very well with his solo stuff , not sure about the others, Harry has dipped a bit into acting but it cannot be easy for them to carve out solo careers after being in a band ..

I think the right two acts went tonight.

I think Molly will be back when she has a couple more years experience.

She has a maturity beyond her years. Seems like a really lovely girl.

A & A showing spirit too for ones so young. I hope the XF are looking after these youngsters. So much pressure on them.

I think it's tricky for everybody - this touring in the middle of a TV programme. It's not great for his acts and I don't think it's great mentally for him either. I think he would much rather be on XF presently than touring. I think he might be trying to do too much at the minute.

He's got the tour, XF, UTR3, the David Walliams musical. New baby at home. It's a lot of plates to keep spinning.

I think Ayda's two acts are looking pretty secure. Gio especially seems to be going from strength to strength. I see a lot of support for him.

I do not know why he is shocked about UV going , they were not right from the start . I worry for A & A , they are very young & need a lot of support & not sure how hands on Nile Rogers will be with them . It is typical of Robbie thinking he can do everything , I hope now he puts his focus into the SA tour which I am sure he will once he gets on stage , the fans in that part of the world have waited a long time to see him again

When do you think the DW musical will happen , I take it that it will be next year, it's something different for Robbie & Guy to work on together so I am dying to hear the songs . David Walliams books are doing mega at the moment so I think the musical will go down very well . David himself says that kids are the hardest to please & will not be long telling you when something is not accurate so the pressure is on for R & C to step up to the mark tongue.gif

I wondered if he was just being supportive unsure.gif - I certainly wasn't surprised they went - their vocals were awful on Saturday night and there was just no charisma there at all.

A & A do need a lot of support. They're so young. Hopefully Robbie will be able to call them up during his time in SA otherwise he'll be left with no acts left in the competition by the time he returns.

The David Walliams musical must be next year and UTR 3 will be post Christmas we now know. Plus he's saying his studio album will be out for next Christmas. Possible Soccer Aid too (although I don't think Robbie will be involved). Another XF if he's invited back?

So next year is looking as busy as this year. We have been spoilt with all the Robbie action this year. It's been mental hasn't it. He seems to get busier and busier every year.

Do you remember the days when he would tour and then you'd hear nothing from him for the next six months?

I'm not saying he didn't work hard twenty years ago - he got his solo career off into the stratosphere but he's a driven man these days. Which is great for us provided he looks after his health.

I guess that any artist has to work very hard at the beginning, then they have their 'imperial phase' as Robbie calls it & then they have to work hard again to keep fans interested & hopefully gather new fans along the way . I am sure that Robbie finds this phase of his career interesting as it is quite varied.

Believe me Tess - you didn't miss anything.

RW was very lucky not to have lost both his acts tonight.

I'm fairly sure A & A will be out next week.

I feel sad about Misunderstood - they could have been so much better. They lost their way. I don't know whose fault that is but they did.

Ayda giving Gio LMEY to sing was a stroke of genius and he performed it really well. He shouldn't have gone out. I don't understand how Brendan and Anthony are still there other than the One D fans voting for them. Gio is better than them.

I'm hoping once XF finishes I can treat it like the Bobby Ewing shower scene in Dallas all those years ago and pretend it never happened. wacko.gif

I think Robbie's had a mare of a weekend - both here and in Buenos Aires.

WE WERE ROBBED The X Factor’s Misunderstood have admitted they’re gutted to leave and say the show is not the same without Robbie Williams who apologised to them on Skype last night. The duo heaped praise on their mentor even though they were axed while he was away in Argentina

what do you think, will he do it again?
Will they ask him to do it again? Likely not I guess

He seems to be loving it - whether he feels the same way when he comes back and he has no acts remains to be seen.

I think Simon would ask him again and if next year is the final year then it would be a good one to do.

Also depends if he's got time. He's said before that there is a new album out next year (as well as UTR3).

In an exclusive chat with The Sun Online, Stephan explained: "It was a difference. Robbie Williams in itself as an entity, he is such a big character.
"So of course if you go somewhere and that person is not there anymore the energy is going to be different."

That's it isn't it - his energy fills the room/stadium and when he's not there you miss him.

It's such a shame about Misunderstood but if they're meant to be stars, they will be.

He's still saying about this "Christmas" album

So next year could be:

UTR3
Las Vegas
David Walliams musical
Soccer Aid (?)
XF (?)
Christmas Album

That seems more than enough for one year ohmy.gif

I sat through it tonight up until Robbie's girls came on, then I switched over. I can't stand watching it if he's not in it.

I actually thought they did OK tonight - the best they have in the live shows. They didn't stick to the Big Band theme though which is a shame, but then hardly anybody else did either. laugh.gif

I still think it's very likely they will go tomorrow.

Enjoyed the final. I would have been happy with either Dalton or Scarlett winning.

Really enjoyed the Scarlett/Leona duet. The Dalton duet would have been much better with Holly Johnson. I don't understand what James Arthur has to do with that song other than being in Simon's stable. I think the single will do well.

Good luck to Dalton in the future.

The final both days was very Robbie centric which for me as a fan was brilliant and I think he did really well on all occasions. X Factor has been a bit of a graveyard to him over the years with live performances but he was really good all three times. Obviously relaxed and enjoying himself. happy.gif Hopefully for those who aren't RW fans, there was enough other stuff going on to keep them occupied/happy.

I wonder why Louis didn't get up and sing?

I hate that XF, I would love to see Robbie do BGT but I doubt he will get that gig , I think the current lineup love it too much so little chance of a slot coming up & I doubt Robbie would do it without Ayda

Got to sit through it another year if he's on it. tongue.gif

Aww that's cute, Danny has an amazing voice!

Having read the article, it looks like Robbie has written songs for him but he isn't necessarily gonna feature on the track

He is always nice to people he meets on these shows so I guess it's not surprising .. I only put up with the XF because RW was on it so I get no excitement with that show overall

On one of the Live Insta's he was talking to the Misunderstood lads and they were going to meet up.

I don't think it's just for the cameras.

X Factor 'over as we know it' as Simon Cowell plots dramatic celebrity revamp
After the ITV singing contest has suffered falling ratings, ITV bosses are hoping to inject new life into the traditional format - but they deny it's being axed

Simon Cowell is in talks with ITV about completely overhauling X Factor - and replacing it with a celebrity version.

The music mogul wants to inject “new energy” into the long-running series by casting stars such as soap actors, newsreaders and comedians.

One source said: “Imagine Strictly but with singers. That's the plan being talked about at present. There is no doubt the X Factor format needs freshening up – this is it.”

He hopes to implement the changes for the upcoming series later this year - meaning the end of auditions for the public as we know it.

Dalton Harris scored a hit single after winning the show, but ratings have been plummeting
A source close to the judge said: “Bradley Walsh was the biggest selling artist of 2016. They could find a similar type of celebrity not known for their musical skills – and make them even more of a star.”

Within the series, there will also be a separate X Factor champions segment – featuring stars from X Factor shows around the world.

Despite X Factor’s falling ratings, ITV boss Kevin Lygo said last week he had no plans to axe the show, preferring to try and “make it leap again”.

He added: “That will be great if we could find that thing for X Factor.”

The 15th series of the show was won by Dalton Harris, whose victory was watched by a peak audience of 7.5 million viewers, up from 500,000 the previous year, according to ITV.

Lygo said: "The audition shows do incredibly well, eight million (viewers) or something and then it does tail off a bit during the lives".

He praised the show's head judge, Cowell, who he said "just generates this attention and heat in a good way. And I thought it was great to try Robbie (Williams) and you couldn't, on paper, think of a bigger, better judge for a show like X Factor. So it's not as if the producers and Simon aren't trying everything to keep it refreshed and so forth".

Another source close to Cowell insisted there are still plans to return to the original format in 2020.

Just read something similar on the Sun website.

Maybe there's an element of truth to it.

Yes - I'm sure I saw him talking about it on the Insta live

I'm positive they will both be back. If there's to be a new format - then that will be a good thing.
