Come Over is by far the best Clean Bandit song.

Posted by: Davidson 11th April 2015, 09:54 PM

Marina might actually get a hit? Who'd have thunk it.

My 2nd fave after Extraordinary but they've yet to release anything less than good so far!

This could have the potential to be VERY good.

Please don't disappoint.

I saw the Coachella performance and this sounds so good! Ahhh! I'm stoked. wub.gif

Posted by: Joe. 11th April 2015, 11:15 PM

I did too and it sounds so strong!

Posted by: jark 11th April 2015, 11:16 PM

From the full performance it's actually a bit disappointing to me. Never goes anywhere, chorus is an anti climax, it's all very Forget but with less breezy euphoria. And it def doesn't sound like a hit.

We'll see.

Posted by: Nelly. S 11th April 2015, 11:29 PM

Posted by: Davidson 11th April 2015, 11:35 PM

Yeah, it really doesn't sound massively different from anything on her album tbh. I really like it and think it sounds very strong, but can't see it being another big Clean Bandit hit. It just doesn't sound like one.

Posted by: ♡ Heezus Froot ♡ 11th April 2015, 11:41 PM

I love it heart.gif heart.gif heart.gif

Posted by: Cody Slayberry 11th April 2015, 11:49 PM

This sounds so 70's!

Posted by: Umi 12th April 2015, 12:03 AM

Not a big fan. I don't really care for Clean Bandit in general so I'm not too surprised but was hoping it'd be better.

Posted by: JVSH 12th April 2015, 12:05 AM

I am in LOVE with the verses, but yeah the chorus is slightly disappointing but I think it's a very production and beat focused one and so I'm sure it will sound a lot greater in HQ.

What on her album sounds like it?

Posted by: ♡ Heezus Froot ♡ 12th April 2015, 12:27 AM

I don't think it sounds like anything on FROOT, but it wouldn't sound much out of place had it been on it. I would have easily placed it among the first half, probably between Froot & I'm a Ruin.

Posted by: mr_aly 12th April 2015, 12:35 AM

I know it's hard to say at this stage, but I have a feeling when the HQ surfaces this will reveal itself to be the best thing Clean Bandit have ever turned their hand to.

Maybe she should join as a permanent band member?

Posted by: mr_aly 12th April 2015, 02:49 AM

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm getting 2K15 'Get Lucky' vibes from this. heart.gif

It's very radio friendly and I think the catchy production and Marina's vocal hooks will be more prominent in the studio version

It's so hard to properly judge something when the first version you hear is a live version. It has potential to be big I reckon, the chorus seems quite earwormy. If it really is Clean Bandit's lead-in single for their 2nd album it'll be sure to be a top 10 for Marina at very least. Let's just hope commercial radios don't do a Pray to God and avoid it because it has an indie-singer as a feature.

Posted by: Kath ♡ 12th April 2015, 08:14 AM

Did anyone watch Clean Bandit's whole set? The girl who sang SLAYED, is she a member of the band? All their singles sound so much better with her vocals

Most of their songs feature someone so she tours with them to sing their songs basically.

Agreed.

I don't think it sounds like any songs in particular, but it just sounds like it could easily slot in the album and not really be any change in style. I don't think the chorus on this is much more radio friendly than those on FROOT either.

Posted by: Joe. 12th April 2015, 02:11 PM

The 'I go out all night, I got home alone' lyric - feels very frooty.

Also, 'I've been calling exes' - feels like a nod to 'Weeds'.

While the structure of the song is very Clean Bandit, I like that Marina's identity is within the song and lyrics, it feels like a real collaboration, because they wrote it together. 'Changing' didn't feel very Paloma to me. I'm sure more of the Clean Bandit elements will be prominent when we hear the proper version.

Posted by: Sean. 12th April 2015, 03:14 PM

What is she wearing though laugh.gif

https://vimeo.com/124720342

Posted by: JVSH 12th April 2015, 03:51 PM

I just wish the chorus was actually just a pre-chrous or part one of a two-part chorus with an euphoric break into a more upbeat refrain like Rather Be or Real Love. Still adoring the verses though, and the actual chorus is a damn good ear worm but yeah just not as !!! as I would've liked and come to expect from a Clean Bandit single.

Posted by: Kath ♡ 12th April 2015, 04:39 PM

Her voice gives me goosebumps

Omg I love her so much

Posted by: Rabbit Froot 13th April 2015, 04:34 PM

I love how it still remains a Marina song rather than how 'Changing' was completely different to what Paloma had done before. While I think that suited Paloma, I'm not sure it would suit Marina as well.

I think it's a great song and I particularly love the verses, and with every Marina song, the lyrics. It's not a hit though, no moreso than the obvious could-be singles from 'Froot'. It doesn't have that BIG chorus like 'Real Love' or 'Rather Be' have.

Posted by: mr_aly 13th April 2015, 04:42 PM

I think the chorus on this is stronger and punchier than the one on 'Real Love'.

I mean, all that essentially is, is just "this is real, real, real, real loooove".

Posted by: Kath ♡ 13th April 2015, 04:50 PM

I think what makes this most striking is that it's more complex with varying hooks and ad-libs instead of the typical verse-big choru
s form

The ad-libs are the absolute highlight for me

Posted by: Juranamo 13th April 2015, 07:37 PM

This sounds great on first listen! Can't wait for studio version. wub.gif

Posted by: James1987 13th April 2015, 08:10 PM

Really can't wait to hear this properly, I can see this doing well if Radio 1 back it and given its a Clean Bandit track and not a Marina track I can see them getting behind it!

Posted by: Hurricane 18th April 2015, 07:05 AM

I think the vocals production will be better on the actual version and thus it will probably sound better as it seems to rest a lot on Marina's voice and gimmicks to carry the hook.

Overall, it doesn't exactly sound like the hit she needs, but if they make it a single and somehow get radio support for it, it should make the top 10, even if just to drop out like a stone the week after. I'll still take that over a total flop.

When are we going to hear this in studio quality?

I don't get why some people don't see the potential this has to be massive. The production alone sounds fantastic and that's judging by the live version.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 19th April 2015, 02:45 AM

The production sounds fantastic but I always feel underwhelmed by the vocal of Marina and The Diamonds.

Posted by: PAJ88 13th May 2015, 05:27 AM

Has a release date for this been announced yet?

Posted by: Joe. 13th May 2015, 08:39 AM

No, but since Stronger will be heading out of the top 40 within the next couple of weeks, I expect to hear something soon.

I'm hoping for an August release, with the video out in July.

Posted by: mdh 22nd June 2017, 07:57 PM

YAY. I wonder how high this can debut - I mean Marina isn't the biggest collab in the world but I'd reckon it could have a top 20 debut based on hype...? Opinions?

It could be that she's performing with them at Glasto this afternoon though.

I hope this is better than the live version that was a bit flat, but I have been waiting for something from Marina so I'm hyped. The Sam Smith collab is the next single, but I assume it could still become a post-album single at some point if people like it!

No way!

I think this is easily the best thing they've ever done by a clear country mile. So good.

Posted by: Joe. 23rd June 2017, 02:15 PM

I get the feeling this isn't a single nor is it on their album and is just being released now as a gift to fans.

Posted by: Ryan. 23rd June 2017, 02:16 PM

I was just about to say exactly the same, they've probably finalised the track listing and know they'd get loads of hate if this wasn't on there so they've got it out there before that happens.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 23rd June 2017, 02:19 PM

Have they not confirmed numerous times it is on their album though?

Posted by: Joe. 23rd June 2017, 02:20 PM

They said in an interview before that they tried to change the production to make it pop, but went back to the original in the end. It is very flat, sadly.

It's pretty good, no chance of #1 though but that was unlikely anyway.

sounding good on first listen (didn't bother listening to the live version when that was floating around), agree that it doesn't sound like a hit but I don't think it's meant to be a commercial release. wouldn't surprise me if the above theory of it just being a fan single is correct (though I'd like it to appear on the album personally).

Totally bemused by the lukewarm reaction to this.

It does sound a bit bland, but it fits with the theme of "Disconnect", as in wanting to extract yourself from the reality for the time being.

I really like it, it is much better than Symphony and definitely better than Rockabye. I am a fan of Marina's operatic melodramatic voice and the progressive style of the track complete with the trance/progressive house style arpeggios in the second verse, since Avicii went country-dance and stopped using them in his chart hits they are not in chart dance songs nearly enough these days.

QUOTE

Thank god they didn't change it to 'make it pop', which would have probably meant it would become yet another tropical pop song or a Chainsmokers clone.

Posted by: 360Jupiter 23rd June 2017, 04:48 PM

Not bad, but definitely sounds like a grat. Also it feels like they branched away from this kind of thing earlier. This sounds like the kind of tune they might've released in place of the poppier 'Stronger', instead of going down that direction (which was probably more lucrative).

Posted by: djquavdemon 23rd June 2017, 04:57 PM

This isn't as good as their last three (or four including Stronger actually) singles, but it's pretty nice anyway. Not sure I'd be keen on it being a proper single but I do hope it's on the album.

Love it so so so much!! My Queen is back!!

Something about this seems incomplete...

marina on stage with clean bandit at glasto rn! looking and sounding fab *.*

Posted by: Liаm 23rd June 2017, 08:51 PM

This is a nice bop, but I agree it's not the smash it needs to be as a single laugh.gif It's fab to finally have it though and I do really like it, but it has nothing on Tears, Symphony or Rockabye which were of course absolute bangers.

I know it's only a grat but not even top 40 on iTunes ohmy.gif

Posted by: slowdown73 23rd June 2017, 09:32 PM

Just heard this. It's definitely not as strong as their last three songs. I think this will struggle. It just isn't that good.

Not a grat, it's a promo single. We don't even know if it's on the album either. Not surprised it's not doing much chart wise as it's not being given any sort of push.

Posted by: Liаm 23rd June 2017, 10:38 PM

I think they've legit just put it out to shut up the Marina fans who keep asking about it, as something nice until the album laugh.gif

Posted by: Cody S. Berry 23rd June 2017, 10:39 PM

This album announcement better be coming soon then

Posted by: Klaus 23rd June 2017, 11:25 PM

Oh the production is a lot more different to what I was expecting considering people were saying it was the same as the live perfomrance but I don't think so!

I can kind of tell that they had difficulties trying to find the right production and I don't think the final result is perfect. BUT I'M SO HAPPY THAT WE FINALLY HAVE A STUDIO VERSION after all this time <3

Posted by: PAJ88 23rd June 2017, 11:34 PM

Isn't what I was expecting, but I still love it!

Thanks Clean Bandit!

Agreed that this is good but not great, would be a worthy album track but never a single without a rework.

Posted by: Parallel Reality 24th June 2017, 01:00 AM

I think it sounds lovely and summery! And it's growing on me with each listen.

Posted by: jjake 24th June 2017, 01:02 AM

i think this is utterly SPELLBINDING

f*** me, it's a tall order to create something like this...

bandit and marina are perfection together; no surprise she's dating one of those lads!

pop really doesn't get better than this

I would like to see a deep progressive house/trance remix of this rather like the Arty one of London Grammar's Hey Now, I think that would go best with an atmospheric song like this with a progressive structure already there.

Posted by: Ryan. 24th June 2017, 06:38 AM

I think something like that is what it needs, I'd say that this peaks in the first 90 seconds and then just sort of meanders it's way to the end from there. That said I do keep playing this (and I was never obsessed with the live version) so something's very good about it!

She's what?!!!!!

So glad Marina is on a track for the first time in ages, I think regardless of opinion I think we can all agree on that.

I think this is quite the jam actually wub.gif

Posted by: andeeeeyhart 24th June 2017, 05:58 PM

I'm surprised by the lukewarm reception to this from some on here. This is one of their best for me.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 24th June 2017, 06:03 PM

I much prefer this to Symphony, which I thought was a bit generic!

This, to me, is very much a signature sound of their New Eyes album and wouldn't have sounded out of place on there. If I'm honest it would've made a perfect bridge single between the two eras to tide people over. Nonetheless, the song is still amazing

Agree with this.

I might end up liking this more than Symphony, especially if they get some good remixes.

she's dating jack! pretty sure it's been a thing for 1-2 years now ohmy.gif

This works in theory, but the track just goes nowhere, despite great vocals from Marina and good production from Clean Bandit. I really wanted everyone and myself to love it though and for Marina to have some sort of hit. Can they go in a record a new song please?

It kind of feels like they've already brushed this under the rug. It wasn't added to hot songs and they didn't even bother changing the tag from 2015 to 2017 on Spotify, so it remains burried on there.

Posted by: Jason 26th June 2017, 09:40 PM

I'm still shocked it's not top 100 in the first set of the midweeks. sad.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 26th June 2017, 10:52 PM

I definitely think this was released to shut up Marina fans laugh.gif

It's good and Marina sounds incredible on it. I just feel like it should be a lot stronger than what it currently is.

Posted by: Dobbo 27th June 2017, 04:14 PM

I can now see why this was never seen as a serious single, just lacking any punch unlike the majority of their hits.

Posted by: White Mustang 25th July 2017, 02:04 PM

Sad that after years of waiting this finally came out, was met by disappointed opinions from most and did absolutely nothing despite Clean Bandit just coming off the back of 3 humongous hits and has been swept under the carpet.

It'd be good if Marina could collab with them again on something a bit better. I'd love her to get a hit.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 25th July 2017, 02:34 PM

Was it even meant to do anything though? It kind of felt to me that they just put it out there to shut the people up who'd been moaning at them for years, kind of almost like it got the same treatment as an instant grat or something.

I think it is a seriously brilliant song, but in hindsight it was missing key elements from the live Coachella version. Like, more funk guitars in the verses, more strings in the chorus, the more upbeat disco-esque build-up to the chorus.

Yeah that's basically my point, they talked about it originally 2 years ago as if it would be their big new single, and obviously got cold feet when they realised it didn't work as time went on so clearly got it out there in as low key a manor as possible.

Doubt Disconnect will be on their album.

Posted by: Rob S~ 25th July 2017, 04:54 PM

Wasn't really too sure about this at first but I find myself playing it a lot on Spotify and I think it's grown to be a lovely track & up there with their best now imo. Maybe it's something that would have perhaps done a bit better 3 years ago.

Because it's nothing like the other release. The lyrics are unmemorable. The whole song needs a bit more punch. So bad but it sounds like FORGET.

Posted by: 360Jupiter 26th July 2017, 09:53 PM

Agree. Also it was very obviously made in 2015, and is stalling on the charts. Clean Bandit have been going poppier and poppier with their latest releases and it's been paying dividends in #1s. This track, much as I personally like it, is just not as pop or on-trend as Rockabye or Symphony.

If they've got collabs with Jess Glynne and Sam Smith in the works, there's no way I can see it being a good idea to promote this instead. Marina's not exactly a big name draw compared.

Well I am usually an advocate of funky house production but I prefer the new version, Marina's voice suits atmospheric production I think and not nu disco.

Her singing on the verses with those fast trance style synths makes me realise she would sound great on a vocal trance track, if trance ever comes back into mainstream popularity.
