Voting has now closed so let's get on with the results. What has been crowned the best single to miss the top 10 this year? Well it certainly isn't one of these.
#42. Chris & Kem - Little Bit Leave It [-03 points] {15}-21-37-63->4 After "winning" the title of most hated song of 2017, it unsurprisingly finishes bottom here. With seven sets of negative points, not even its eleven positive points could save it. Last year the losing song scored 15 points but due to the lack of quality this time around we are left with 15 songs not even making it into double figures. #41. Eminem - In Your Head [-02 points] {19}-73->2 Eminem hasn't exactly had the best received era this time around with most people agreeing that he used to be a lot better in the past, including Eminem himself probably. That didn't stop him from getting a #1 hit with 'River' though as well as getting this album track into the top 20, sampling 'Zombie' by The Cranberries, just weeks before that band's lead singer's unfortunate and surprising death. Except it actually shouldn't have got anywhere near there in the first place as this charting was fully because of an error at either the label or OCC's end. Oops. It received no positive points and one set of negative points. #40. Ed Sheeran - Save Myself [-01 points] {19}-29-57-65->4 Of course we get a load of Ed Sheeran album tracks eligible for this rundown, but unsurprisingly none of them do particularly well. The lowest charting of them was 'Save Myself' which only made it to #19 (what a flop) which also performs the worst here with one set of negative votes and a single positive vote. =#36. Michael Bublé - It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas [±00 points] 63-61-49-59R(50)-50-41-39R(50)-44-38-27-45R(49)-18-22-{13}->14 Poor Michael Bublé aka the King of Christmas received not a single vote for his cover version of the 50s Perry Como classic which thanks to the magic of streaming finally made it to the top 20 this year, peaking at #27 the previous year. Perhaps in 2018 he'll finally make the top 10? =#36. Ed Sheeran - Hearts Don't Break Around Here [±00 points] {15}-22-45-50-59-74->6 Yet another Ed Sheeran album track now and there's three of them that finish with absolute zero. I haven't even listened to this properly but from what I heard it sounds like a painfully boring acoustic guitar ballad. =#36. Ed Sheeran - Eraser [±00 points] {14}-26-49-54-62-73->6 And this one had Ed attempting to rap again, clearly that didn't go down too well as despite being track 1 on the album it failed to reach the top ten. =#36. Ed Sheeran - Barcelona [±00 points] {12}-13-26-33-41-45-53-55-58-61->10 This one isn't too bad actually, but still not worth much and I can't be upset this finished with nothing either. This is the one with Ed singing in Spanish for about a third of the song, even before Despacito was a thing. =#34. Chris Brown - Questions [+02 points] 21-19-16-13-{12}-15-17-15-17-38-41-45-46-52-56->15 Because Chris Brown can still get a hit single when he wants to somehow, but only when he butchers a 00s classic for it. =#34. Andy Williams - It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year [+02 points] 43-25-21-21-64-63R(50)-71-74R(312)-61R(2)-61R(52)-55R(50)-50-41-24-37R(50)-37-{17}->17 As if this only got two points? Maybe if it was December you'd be kinder to it. A few more Christmas songs are yet to appear though. This one got stuck at #21 in 2007 after being used in an advert but finally made the top 20 this year thanks to streaming. #33. Ed Sheeran - Nancy Mulligan [+04 points] {13}-15-29-35-43-48-64-67-74->9 Oh hi Ed again. Couldn't bring myself to listen to more than about 10 seconds of this one. #32. Rag'n'Bone Man - Skin [+04 points {more positive votes}] 35-51-25-20-18-37-42-60-30-23-18-17-16-{13}-15-14-24-26-28-34-40-39-53-58-65->25 Surprised this one's so low as it was quite a big hit. Though I suppose Buzzjack aren't very big on RnB Man. I don't care for this one at all anyway, at least it didn't get as overexposed as 'Human'. #31. James Arthur - Naked [+06 points] {11}-20-21-24-36-14-19-22-28-28->10 A song giving the mental image of James Arthur naked is definitely something nobody needed. |

I nearly gave a point to 'Eraser' IIRC! 'Save Myself' and 'Hearts Don't Break Around Here' deserve the non-reaction as they were among the more tedious songs on the album but that and to a lesser extent 'Barcelona' are pretty good. I actually did vote for 'Nancy Mulligan' too (was I the only one? I forget lol).

#30. Drake (feat. Giggs) - No Long Talk [+08 points]
{17}-37-57-75->4 Just one voter for this one but their eight points was enough to get this to avoid the bottom ten. Fairly standard for a Drake album track really, it was good to see him work with Giggs but they also had 'KMT' together which was better so this one's a bit pointless. #29. John Legend - Love Me Now [+08 points {more positive votes}] 75-49R(2)-58-64-45-37-33-30-33-34-38-{17}-21-23-27-30-37-44-55->19 Another soppy love borefest from John Legend. At least 'All Of Me' had a fair bit of emotion to it, this one is just there and it's quite baffling that this did as well as it did. #28. Ed Sheeran - Bibia Be Ye Ye [+09 points] {18}-24-46-49-56-70->6 That's the last of the Ed Sheeran now, for whatever reason this one is deemed to be better than the others. #27. Drake - Signs [+14 points] 22-{14}-15-15-18-19-23-26-28-63->10 Because a 20+ track album wasn't enough we got a standalone Drake single midway through the year which I enjoyed but isn't one of his best really. This wasn't even a promoted single but streamers are always hungry for new Drake material which was enough to keep this going until the ACR hit. #26. The Script - Rain [+14 points {same voters, more 12s}] 26-44-31-17-18-19-18-{15}-19-19-22-26-34-60-69->15 The Script just keep getting worse as time goes on, and this may be their blandest song to date, which for some reason was a big hit despite that. #25. Sage The Gemini - Now and Later [+15 points] 51-43-32-20-21-{17}-20-29-51-64-72->11 Remember Sage The Gemini anyone? He had a top 20 hit this time last year believe it or not. #24. Take That - Giants [+16 points] {13}->1 It's the streaming era now which means Take That can only get in the top 20 from fan buys before plummeting. This song deserved a little more than that but I'm not surprised or really disappointed, it wasn't an essential of theirs. #23. Maroon 5 (feat. SZA) - What Lovers Do [+20 points] 23-24-25-18-18-{12}-12-12-15-13-15-22-28-54-60R(4)-68->16 Remember when Maroon 5 didn't have to rely on guest urban artists to get hits? It wasn't that long ago actually. #22. ALMA - Chasing Highs [+24 points] 45-59-54-30-28-25-24-{18}-21-19-20-22-25-49-56-73->16 Now this is an amazing song, can't believe it only finishes in 22nd here what are y'all on? #21. Post Malone - I Fall Apart [+26 points] 40-22-{19}-19-21-20-24-24-40-47-67-68-52R(2)-50-55-54-52->17 Post Malone got really big this year and took full advantage of 'rockstar's success to release this as a single just weeks later. Not that bad of a song but I grew off it fast. |

I even gave it a pity vote so that it wouldn't just be a pile of non-appraised Ed tracks on nil...and then the next voter gave it minus points |

How exactly did Love Me Now take off? John Legend is a big name but not really the sort of name which guarantees you a hit.
Lots of good-ish songs out so far, although nothing spectacular and even the better songs are overrated imo. Rain is decent but The Script have done way better (which is saying something let’s be honest ) |

#20. Major Lazer (feat. Travis Scott, Camila Cabello & Quavo) - Know No Better [+20 points {more voters}]
48-35-31-31-26-19-17-{15}-15-18-20-22-51-66->14 I expected this to do better of the two Major Lazer songs, and at first it did. My personal favourite of the two anyway, even not taking into account the iconic obligatory Quavo guest verse. #19. Chris Rea - Driving Home For Christmas [+30 points] 51-35-33-70R(50)-53-59-70-63R(50)-63-40-67R(52)-59R(50)-53-36-54R(50)-53-36-72R(50)-61-53-67R(50)-60-53-43-67R(50)-51-29-46R(50)-37-26-68R(50)-23-20-{14}->34 Well this classic finally made the top 20 last Christmas and I'm very glad it did, it's one of the best. It does fairly well for itself here despite us being in February now. #18. Elton John - Step Into Christmas [+32 points] 65-53-64R(207)-75R(52)-58R(159)-68R(50)-62-47-37-63R(49)-19-18-{11}->13 And this one also finally got itself a top 20 peak, and nearly made the top ten too. He has 32 top 10 hits though, and more importantly a lot of money, so I'm sure he's not too annoyed about that. Another great Christmas song. #17. Taylor Swift - Gorgeous [+43 points] {15}-31-47-41-54-66-52-61R(4)-67-72->10 Taylor's fanbase was strong enough to get this into the top 20 but it wasn't to last, though it had an alright chart run outside of the top 40 largely thanks to good airplay. #16. Machine Gun Kelly & Camila Cabello - Bad Things [+43 points {more voters}] 52-23-{16}-17-18-21-24-33-50-67->10 This (alongside her Shawn Mendes duet) was the start of the obvious attempt to push Camila as the breakout solo star of Fifth Harmony, which worked well for her in the end, but that doesn't excuse this song being quite bad. #15. Major Lazer (feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR & Nicki Minaj) - Run Up [+48 points] {20}-20-22-25-28-40-40-64-63-55-49-65-61-53-54->15 The much hyped Major Lazer follow-up to 'Cold Water', though mostly for it being Nicki Minaj's first feature in a while, ended up falling a bit flat though it sold well enough to make the top 20. And we still don't have the 4th album she promised in her verse. #14. Khalid - Young Dumb & Broke [+50 points] 69-61-60-52-38-25-21-18-19-{17}-18-17-17-18-24-60-53-33-44-52-58-68->22 Breaking out on singles by Marshmello and Logic it wasn't long before he gave us a song by himself and with the song title being very relatable to many Spotify users of course it was a hit. #13. Imagine Dragons - Thunder [+51 points] 68-49R(3)-47-49-38-36-26-21-24-{20}-54-56-58-62-75->15 They had a surprisingly successful era this time around with this giving them their first top 20 hit since 2013, ignoring 'Sucker For Pain' last year. This is far from their best though. #12. Bruno Mars - That's What I Like [+58 points] 72-47-42-35-25-15-14-13-13-{12}-15-13-17-21-24-27-27-34-37-37-43-73R(2)->22 Bleh, I'm glad this missed the top 10, and missed it again in this rundown. Don't get this at all, like many of his songs. #11. Little Mix (feat. Machine Gun Kelly) - No More Sad Songs [+59 points] 39-64-51R(2)-17-16-16-{15}-20-27-29-32-32-37-36-54-61-71->17 Surprisingly Little Mix don't even make the top 10 in this rundown, though this does seem to be one of the least well-received songs of theirs of recent years and they really should've got a better rapper than MGK. Which means your top 10 and #1 contenders are... CamelPhat & Elderbrook - Cola Camila Cabello - Crying in the Club Cheat Codes (feat. Demi Lovato) - No Promises Disciples - On My Mind Jax Jones (feat. Demi Lovato & Stefflon Don) - Instruction Kendrick Lamar - DNA. Lady Gaga - The Cure Lorde - Green Light Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa - Scared To Be Lonely Miley Cyrus - Malibu Any surprises? Predictions? |

Rooting for Disciples of course!
That's not a great top 10 at all though. Only other tracks I like are Camila's, Lorde's & Garrix's and I wouldn't say I love any of them. Oh and for a prediction, Green Light is going to absolutely storm this, probably with a greater winning margin than Ariana last year. |

Post Malone finishing higher than ALMA is a surprise! What's ACR? Accelerated chart ratio, one of the new chart rules from last year. (Refer to this post if you're still not familiar)

#10. Kendrick Lamar - DNA. [+63 points]
{18}-33-42-46-52-65->6 Surprised this got top 10, as it wasn't even very big here after the first week album boost, seems Kendrick has a bit of a fanbase here. Quite good but didn't make that much of an impression on me. #09. Cheat Codes (feat. Demi Lovato) - No Promises [+63 points {more voters}] 54-51-48-39-26-24-25-{18}-18-19-24-27-32-28-31-55-58-59-60-66->20 Getting Cheat Codes their 2nd top 20 hit was this which was another good song of theirs, they've gone a bit downhill since though and as such haven't charted again. #08. Miley Cyrus - Malibu [+75 points] {11}-15-16-15-16-19-24-19-16-14-21-23-45-53-62-75->16 Miley returned to her favourite chart position of #11 with this comeback single, which was unexpectedly mature for her. It's not to my taste but it's at least less embarrassing than 'We Can't Stop'. #07. Camila Cabello - Crying in the Club [+85 points] 48-46-23-23-20-18-16-14-13-{12}-13-15-17-47-44-54-69->17 Well she's seemingly disowned this song but Buzzjack still like it. It became her first solo top 20 hit giving her a good start to her own career. #06. Lady Gaga - The Cure [+90 points] 23-{19}-23-22-20-20-31-31-41-67->10 This surprise single for the fans turned out to be a bigger hit for her than any of her 'Joanne' era efforts, proving that she isn't done as a chart force just yet. #05. CamelPhat & Elderbrook - Cola [+97 points] 58-53-54-49-38-25-23-{18}-19-19-20-18-22-60-62-74-39-46-57-59-70->21 The biggest club song of the summer, 'Cola' turned into a big chart hit by the end of the year becoming one of the most unique hit singles of recent. It only just made the top 20 but stayed there for five weeks and had an all-round excellent chart run. #04. Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa - Scared To Be Lonely [+104 points] 23-{14}-14-16-15-27-25-30-20-18-21-28-30-35-35-39-47-48-53-54-70->21 Teaming with Dua Lipa, this got Martin Garrix another big hit and followed the future bass direction he went in with 'Name Of Love'. Though it didn't quite make the top 10 it boosted Dua's profile and became his 2nd-longest running hit. #03. Disciples - On My Mind [+130 points] 34-31-28-27-23-{15}-16-20-18-21-24-29-38-42-49-52-61-62-72->19 Disciples had a very strong song in 'On My Mind' and were rewarded well with it becoming their second top 20 hit, and first all by themselves. Very pleased that this makes the top 3 here. #02. Jax Jones (feat. Demi Lovato & Stefflon Don) - Instruction [+149 points] 46-59-47-38-32-32-22-16-{13}-15-16-17-41-46-56-59->16 Following massive hit 'You Don't Know Me', Jax released this which really should've been another top 10 for him but it wasn't to be. He did get there again with 'Breathe' though. I of course love this so #2 is a great outcome for it here, #1 would've been nice but there was only going to be one song that would win... #01. Lorde - Green Light [+170 points] 28-34-40-26-27-{20}-21-26-33-37-42-44-43-50-66-61-65->17 So your favourite non-top 10 hit of the year is 'Green Light'! The song was the long awaited return of Lorde and the lead single to 'Melodrama' which was very much raved about on Buzzjack. It became her 2nd top 20 hit following #1 hit 'Royals'. Full results: 01 170 Lorde - Green Light 02 149 Jax Jones (feat. Demi Lovato & Stefflon Don) - Instruction 03 130 Disciples - On My Mind 04 104 Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa - Scared To Be Lonely 05 97 CamelPhat & Elderbrook - Cola 06 90 Lady Gaga - The Cure 07 85 Camila Cabello - Crying in the Club 08 75 Miley Cyrus - Malibu 09 63 Cheat Codes (feat. Demi Lovato) - No Promises 10 63 Kendrick Lamar - DNA. 11 59 Little Mix (feat. Machine Gun Kelly) - No More Sad Songs 12 58 Bruno Mars - That's What I Like 13 51 Imagine Dragons - Thunder 14 50 Khalid - Young Dumb & Broke 15 48 Major Lazer (feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR & Nicki Minaj) - Run Up 16 43 Machine Gun Kelly & Camila Cabello - Bad Things 17 43 Taylor Swift - Gorgeous 18 32 Elton John - Step Into Christmas 19 30 Chris Rea - Driving Home For Christmas 20 26 Major Lazer (feat. SZA) - What Lovers Do 24 16 Take That - Giants 25 15 Sage The Gemini - Now and Later 26 14 The Script - Rain 27 14 Drake - Signs 28 09 Ed Sheeran - Bibia Be Ye Ye 29 08 John Legend - Love Me Now 30 08 Drake (feat. Giggs) - No Long Talk 31 06 James Arthur - Naked 32 04 Rag'n'Bone Man - Skin 33 04 Ed Sheeran - Nancy Mulligan 34 02 Andy Williams - It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year 34 02 Chris Brown - Questions 36 00 Ed Sheeran - Barcelona 36 00 Ed Sheeran - Eraser 36 00 Ed Sheeran - Hearts Don't Break Around Here 36 00 Michael Bublé - It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas 40 -01 Ed Sheeran - Save Myself 41 -02 Eminem - In Your Head 42 -03 Chris & Kem - Little Bit Leave It |
