BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Anne-Marie - Speak Your Mind

Posted by: lewistgreen 18th February 2016, 10:13 AM

Essex born Anne-Marie, known for her collaborations with Rudimental (spending two years on tour with them), Wretch 32 and Gorgon City, is set to release her debut album in 2016.

Lead single 'Do It Right' has already received support from Radio 1, 1Xtra and Kiss.

2015 saw the release of taster tracks 'Boy' and 'Karate'.

Posted by: Davidson 18th February 2016, 10:29 AM

'Do It Right' and 'Boy' are my tunes. I love her voice so much.

Would really love 'Do It Right' to properly smash, it's such a strong song wub.gif

Posted by: Steve201 18th February 2016, 10:55 PM

Boy was Brillant.

If Lily Allen returned with that kind of track it'd be an instant no1!

Posted by: Liаm 18th February 2016, 11:36 PM

I agree Boy and Do It Right, especially the former, are tunes wub.gif She needs to be massive this year.

Posted by: lewistgreen 13th May 2016, 02:16 PM

New single 'Alarm' out May 20th. HYPE.

Posted by: Steve201 13th May 2016, 02:58 PM

hOPE THIS IS AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TWO!

I am loving Alarm, my favourite song she has done yet and a fantastic track ❤️

Posted by: (Zach) 29th May 2016, 01:33 AM

Really feeling Alarm. Is this her first song to chart? I've never heard of her.

Posted by: Liаm 29th May 2016, 02:16 AM

Do It Right did fairly well on iTunes (I think it might have snuck top 40 on there briefly? If not then it only stalled just outside), and for me it's her best to date wub.gif

Posted by: Davidson 24th July 2016, 06:03 PM

Glad 'Alarm' is doing decently on iTunes. I feel like it will just stall outside the top 40 though officially which will be a shame.

It's grown on me massively over the last few weeks.

Posted by: JosephStyles 25th July 2016, 02:29 PM

It's looking good for top 40 this week!

I'm really into Alarm right now, best thing I've heard from her so far wub.gif

Posted by: Liаm 9th August 2016, 01:38 PM

Breathing Fire out 30th September, can't wait as Alarm has really hit me wub.gif Hopefully the album follows soon after because she's such a promising new artist.

Posted by: JosephStyles 9th August 2016, 03:03 PM

Really excited for this!! Alarm is just so good, glad it's bee a bit of a hit for her wub.gif

Posted by: ML Hammer95 9th August 2016, 04:00 PM

According to live reviews, it sounds like 'Rihanna-style pop erotica'... make of that what you will. laugh.gif

Posted by: Davidson 9th August 2016, 04:17 PM

Stunning album cover. Only thing I would say is that her name should probably stand out more seeing as she's a new artist.

'Alarm' has a slight Rihanna vibe so I'm expecting the album to be along the same lines. She's been compared slightly the Zara Larsson but I find Anne-Marie to be far more interesting.

Can't wait for this.

Posted by: lewistgreen 3rd October 2016, 07:42 PM

It seems Breathing Fire's release has been postponed for now, probably due to Alarm's success!

Posted by: Davidson 6th October 2016, 05:11 PM

Sounds derivative.

Posted by: JosephStyles 6th October 2016, 05:26 PM

Breathing Fire sounds incredible from that snippet and the live performances she's done, really excited. Sounds like a hit too!

Delighted by how well Alarm is doing still, never expected it to have such top 20 longevity ohmy.gif

Posted by: lewistgreen 18th November 2016, 05:15 PM

Just a little something to tide us over until Breathing Fire actually emerges.

Posted by: Liаm 20th November 2016, 01:14 PM

Peak is stunning, can't wait for Breathing Fire wub.gif

Posted by: Hadji 23rd November 2016, 09:57 PM

Release date for "Breathing Fire" has been pushed back to 17th March for no reason. If it's because they're waiting for "Alarm" to die down, that's a stupid reason as by then, "Alarm" will be long gone from the charts

Posted by: JosephStyles 23rd November 2016, 10:02 PM

OK that really is ridiculous! laugh.gif 30th December was starting to make sense due to Rockabye's success but March mellow.gif

She tweeted the other day that it's not a single, just something personal that she wanted to release. I'd imagine the push back is now because of Rockabye which would be silly as it's only a feature and it's not a bad thing to have another song out alongside it.

Posted by: JosephStyles 23rd November 2016, 10:39 PM

I think mid-January would've been better really. The schedule's always a bit dead around then, and people are over Christmas/New Year by that point so it's the perfect time to put out a new single to grab the airtime!

Posted by: lewistgreen 5th December 2016, 07:27 PM

Her voice heart.gif

And amazing news with the Critics' Choice nod!

Posted by: gooddelta 3rd January 2017, 03:28 PM

A combination of Anne-Marie's additional exposure through Rockabye and the TOTP performance of Alarm have FINALLY made the latter click with me. Better late than never but this is a late bandwagon jump even for me laugh.gif

Posted by: lewistgreen 3rd January 2017, 04:48 PM

Breathing Gire still for a March 17th release! Was hoping this would change nocheer.gif

Boy & Do It Right were much better for me but I've thought since I first heard her last October she could be a huge uk pop star in the making - has a real attitude to her music!

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🕊 27th January 2017, 08:23 PM

"Ciao, Adios" will be her next single. Despite she tweeted that it's coming next month, it's available for pre-order on iTunes with a March 10 release date, so I assume it's going to be premiered and/or even put on Spotify to get a better peak. The track, which is available for pre-order on iTunes, is going to be released on February 10.

Also, it should be mentioned that "Breathing Fire" is still available for pre-order with a March 17 release date, so it could be pulled out altogether or she will release both tracks in that month.

Posted by: liamk97 16th February 2017, 05:15 PM

Anne-Marie is quite the fan of 90s pop (based on like two examples haha).

Posted by: George.keh 15th August 2017, 03:18 PM

An album should be coming soon I can imagine it looking like a little like this-

1. Alarm
2.
3. Ciao Adios
4. Do It Right
5. Peak
6. Breathing Fire
7. Heavy
8. Then
9. Either Way (Snakehips & Joey Bada$$)
10. Gemini

Deluxe Edition-
11. Rockabye
12.
13. Ciao Adios (stripped)
14. Say You'll Be There from Live Lounge

Shaping up to be an incredible album. Surely better than Zara Larsson's anyway. The spaces after Breathig Fire are where 2 new singles could go

Posted by: JosephStyles 15th August 2017, 03:29 PM

I'd be shocked if she included Boy on the album, she didn't perform it live when she supported Ed Sheeran, and she had a good 10 songs in her set too! Plenty of new material so I think we'll have room for more than just two new songs in that tracklist biggrin.gif

I'm so excited for this anyway, she's not put a foot wrong. I hope she gets on with the next single ASAP, still craving the studio version of Breathing Fire, which sounds like a SMASH wub.gif

Posted by: Jack 15th August 2017, 03:41 PM

She is taking FAR too long to release a new single. Ciao Adios was in Feb!

Posted by: JosephSivan 30th January 2018, 08:46 PM

She's confirmed on Twitter that she has a release date for the album, hopefully she releases a killer single before as it seems like she isn't bothering to promote Then?

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 30th January 2018, 10:46 PM

I don't get why these debut popstars in this era (Zara, Dua and Anne-Marie) delay their debut album for SO long. By which point they're so many singles down the line and either missed the boat or released the album off the back of a disaster single, probably re-recorded the album so much that it's lost any sense of direction it ever had in the beginning and the whole scenario (and album) ends up being a complete mess.

Obviously Dua was incredibly lucky to have 'New Rules', but alas.

Posted by: Cameron 30th January 2018, 10:53 PM

I don’t think Then is a single, I think she just put it out as a present for fans. She needs to get on the hype train again

Posted by: M4NG0 1st February 2018, 10:26 AM

Waiting for her album is beyond frustrating. For me she's one of the most promising new popstars of the last couple of years, more so than Dua, so it's sad to see this campaign becoming such a delayed mess. Ideally she'd have followed up 'Ciao Adios' with 'Then' in the summer, then 'Breathing Fire' in the autumn, leading up to the release of the album in Q4.

It's hard to believe 'Alarm' came out in summer 2016 and we're now into 2018 and she's yet to release her album!

To be fair, there's absolutely no reason they couldn't have thrown the album out after 'Ciao Adios'. I can confidently say whoever is managing her/the campaign are idiots for letting it get to this.

I think so! They're marketing it as a proper joint single between her and Marshmello by the looks of things so I think it's from her album too biggrin.gif

That’s 9 somgs by my count, 10 if you include her solo version of Rockabye. (Which never got a proper release outside of radio)

I wonder if they’ll all make it on.

Posted by: JosephSprayberry 21st February 2018, 06:31 PM

I'd be very surprised if Boy or Karate made it, the rest are all fair guesses but it wouldn't shock me too much to see Do It Right left off either. Rockabye might be a bonus track but I doubt it'd be anything other than the original.

Posted by: cqmerqn 21st February 2018, 07:45 PM

She’d be silly to include anything BEFORE Alarm.

Posted by: JosephSprayberry 21st February 2018, 07:47 PM

Do It Right was an Australian hit tbf, a bigger hit than Ciao Adios was over there. She performed it as part of her set supporting Ed last year too, nothing from before that, so it wouldn't shock me if that were included!

The music video for Do It Right was filmed in Melbourne.

I’d say whenever she started using her watermark in her single covers would be the cutoff mark to what she’ll add onto the album

So everything released after (and including) Alarm

Posted by: Cameron 21st February 2018, 11:37 PM

I’m so ready for this though

Out on April 27. 12 songs in the standard version and 17 in the deluxe.

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🌴 22nd February 2018, 03:02 PM

Track #16 doesn't have a name, so I guess this might be the Ed Sheeran collaboration.

Posted by: cqmerqn 22nd February 2018, 03:10 PM

Good to see they are mostly new songs and that we are FINALLY getting 'Breathing Fire'

Posted by: Liаm 22nd February 2018, 04:34 PM

Out 27th April!

Tracklist:

1. Cry
2. Ciao Adios
3. Alarm
4. Trigger
5. Then
6. Perfect
7. Friends (with Marshmello)
8. Bad Girlfriend
9. Heavy
10. 2002
11. Can I Get Your Number
12. Machine
13. Breathing Fire
14. Some People
15. Used to Love You
16. Track 16
17. Rockabye (feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie) - Clean Bandit

Idk why Track 16 just says track 16 laugh.gif Finally getting to hear Breathing Fire *.*

Posted by: gooddelta 22nd February 2018, 04:40 PM

Posted by: Dexton 22nd February 2018, 04:40 PM

Shame Do It Right missed out sad.gif Also liked her features on Catch 22 & Either Way, her discography is actually full of bops I can’t believe most of her releases have flopped

Posted by: cqmerqn 22nd February 2018, 04:41 PM

I would’ve said track 16 is Ed collab but why would they only put the Ed collab on the deluxe

Posted by: cqmerqn 22nd February 2018, 04:43 PM

Also, this is one of the biggest streamed albums on Spotify by a female artist, and it hasn’t even been released yet laugh.gif

I'm quite surprised 'Do It Right' was left off. I know it's a couple of years old now but as was pointed out it did quite well in Australia and I'd consider it quite an integral part of her story in establishing herself.

Ok the TBA on track 16 is nothing, track 16 is Rockabye and there is no track 17, she has just posted the track list herself. It's a shame Do It Right couldn't be snuck in as it's a bop and as said it did well in Australia but oh well. In the streaming age I'll just queue it as part of the album to alleviate that problem tongue.gif

I like this on first listen but, much like on Dua Lipa’s album, the deluxe edition songs are dull and I probably won’t go back to them bar Rockabye (or Last Dance, both of which are final track #17 funnily enough)

Trigger and Can I Get Your Number seem like standout album tracks so far tbh, possibly singles but I think she’d be best to move on to her next album after 2002 and the next single (if any) have been & gone.

Perfect is so poorly written and full of cliches, worse than 2002 mellow.gif

“I want to take my family to see Eminem coz my Sisters loved him since she was ten” oh ok hun.

Really liking this album on first listen, albeit there’s an awful lot of it we already know so it feels instantly familiar.

Trigger is indeed very good, as is Cry and I like Can I Get Your Number too. Breathing Fire is great but a little more overproduced than I’d have liked, I think it would have stood out more produced as a ballad a la the lovely live version she’s been performing for a while.

Lyrically it’s rather crap though in places (Perfect, Bad Girlfriend) so I’m sure Ed wasn’t entirely to blame for the 2002 lyrics laugh.gif

‘Trigger’ reminds me of OctaHate by Ryn Weaver a little bit!

Either way, I can see it being a big top 10 hit!

~~~
Perfect reminds me of a Lily Allen album track.
I did say OctaHate by Ryn Weaver a couple of posts back, is it that? ohmy.gif
No I think it's an Imagine Dragons song. It's only the "we don't have to pull the trigger' part, like the melody of that
07 Cry
08 Ciao Adios (I like this more now than I did 12 months ago tbh)
11 Alarm
10 Trigger
08 Then
06 Perfect
10 FRIENDS
06 Bad Girlfriend
06 Heavy
10 2002
09 Can I Get Your Number
06 Machine
07 Breathing Fire
07 Some People
06 Used To Love You
07 Peak
10 Rockabye
Trails off a bit towards the end but Rockabye is a nice way to finish. Do It Right would’ve fit nice behind Breathing Fire and Some Peoplw I think. Heavy is still such a bore to listen to but Then & Ciao Adios have grown on me with the album. Alarm remains an Anne-Marie fave though
‘Peak’ is the most perfect track here.
Posted by: Liаm 28th April 2018, 04:38 PM
Peak is stunning, it shows the tone to her voice so well wub.gif
‘trigger’ is v good
surely next single
I can imagine a nice Ryan Riback remix of Trigger if that’s the next single... dance.gif
08.5 Cry
11.0 Ciao Adios (among the best of the last few years)
09.5 Alarm
09.0 Trigger
08.0 Then
09.0 Perfect
10.0 FRIENDS
09.0 Bad Girlfriend
07.5 Heavy
09.5 2002
08.5 Can I Get Your Number
07.0 Machine
10.0 Breathing Fire
06.0 Some People
09.5 Used to Love You
08.5 Peak
10.0 Rockabye
An ALBUM. Breathing Fire and Used to Love You deserve more than to be deluxe-only tracks! She was an absolute sweetheart at her album signing on Saturday too, I got a hug wub.gif disappointed in the photo I received as the HMV employee who took it did a shoddy job, but thankfully it looks https://www.instagram.com/p/BiHkrBOnKVO/?taken-by=josephstyles11 with a couple of Instagram touch-ups.
"trigger" is very, very good
Posted by: Adam 3rd May 2018, 05:18 AM
Maybe I need to listen more but as an A-M staaaaan I was not impressed with the stuff I hadn't heard. Very midtempo (I love some of her mid so that's not necessarily awful) but uninspiring.
I think the only potential singles for me are Cry or Trigger. Honestly though, I'd go back to Then and give that a push, that's the real jewel in the crown here.
I can live with the writing on 2002 and it is somewhat a bop but Perfect cringes me out. I've seen a lot of people tweeting her saying how important the song is, so I fear they may try to release that.
Posted by: mdh 3rd May 2018, 12:16 PM
'Trigger' is possibly the best thing she's put out.
Posted by: ſnlᴉɐuo 6th May 2018, 11:09 PM
For Me 'Can I Get Your Number' is the best non-single track by a mile.
Posted by: jjake 7th May 2018, 12:13 AM
‘trigger is fun but it’s v non-descript cookiecutter throwaway no identity kind of track
Posted by: jjake 7th May 2018, 12:17 AM
i like anne-marie a fair bit (‘ciao’ was a banger) but this record is a textbook example of record politics...3,000 different producers and writers, an overlong record which is well overdue
theres no statement of intent, identity or coherency
from ‘ciao’ to bandwagon marshmello to shite ed sheeran co-write
it’s various forms of shite
Yes.
There's plenty to use here. It's not clever or original and the lyrics are universally shit, but the bops are very much present. Cry and Number are doing it for me, and Ciao Adios really knocks.
Posted by: Andrew. 14th May 2018, 01:08 AM
Having just listened for the first time, there’s a lot of good stuff on the album but I just CAN’T get behind her as an artist as with songs like ‘2002’ and ‘Perfect’ it all feels so Ed Sheeran style-insincerity and it’s very generic....tbh it’s packed with bops so 💁🏾‍♀️
