BuzzJack Music Forum _ Britney Spears _ FEMME FATALE - ALBUM RATE

Welcome to Buzzjack's second official rate of Britney's "Femme Fatale" album. Here are some rules;

-Do NOT leave a track unrated. The album is available on all streaming services, YouTube, soundcloud, etc. We all want a clear result. And let's face it, some of Britney's best music comes from bonus tracks and non singles. If you are a fan of pop music, widen your (soon to be even more) awesome playlists.
-You may give your favorite (ONE) track an 11.
-You may give your least favorite (ONE) track a negative one.
-Do NOT edit your rates after an hour of posting them. That leaves you an hour to correct mis types and change your scores. If edited after the first hour, your original scores will not be changed. I'm recording the votes as they get posted so let's keep this simple.

-THOSE WHO LEAVE A COMMENTARY (2-3 sentences for at least every track) will be entered into winning a free copy of Britney's upcoming album, when released or made available for pre-order. I'll be picking a winner for each comp that happens until the release. If you use a streaming service on Spotify or iTunes I will also buy a month membership for one of those sites, if preferred.

How on EARTH her label sat on 'Up & Down' when it was screaming for a UK release is beyond me.
I well and truly believe that it would have smashed here, I still listen to it a lot. Love this album. Criminal was a terrible choice for a single though.

Just reminding everyone that Tyler has very kindly decided to buy someone a copy of "B9" (or a month's subscription to iTunes/Spotify if preferred - BUT I'm going to add this little tidbit, you MUST stream Britney's album, FIRST! (and obviously as many times throughout the week as you can) kink.gif) if they write some commentary for the tracks.

Even though this is a rate, we would still like some discussion! biggrin.gif

(Those who have already rated, you can edit in your commentary whenever you're free to do so! Just a couple of tracks a day is ok if you prefer!)

Going to edit with some comments tomorrow when I've got more time! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Kye 6th June 2016, 09:44 PM

Sorry I took the full stops out of mine so I'll go back and do that and I'll add commentary in tomorrow.

Yes! Thanks for elaborating on that. Feel free to use the service for any other artist, but, your first play must be a complete run through of 'B9'. If you only listen to it once (please stream 500x though) that's fine. But, yeah thanks for adding that! <3

And yes, feel free to add commentary to your scores at any point. You can even copy and paste your final commentary into a new post to bring more attention to it, AS LONG AS THE SCORES REMAIN THE SAME! Thank you guys for participating!

Commentary will come tomorrow/Wednesday! But for now, here's my rating!

09.0 Till The World Ends
>> What an anthem, hey? It's clear to see why this is the closing song for her Vegas set. I think a couple of years ago I would've given this a "10", but I think I've tired of it myself, slightly. Still an utter jam though and I completely GET it's appeal. <<

10.0 Hold It Against Me
>> I find this really under appreciated and underrated nowadays. I prefer it to TTWE, personally and I think it's aged pretty well. The video is a masterpiece too. It's a forgotten gem and deserves to perform better than I fear it will. <<

07.5 Inside Out
>> As I said below, I've actually come around to this song so much since I've been relistening to the album recently. I've always "liked" it, I've just never "loved" or even got the love for it. The chorus opens with a HUGE "SO COME AAAAAWWWNNN..." and I just can't help but feel disappointed that it doesn't quite live up to the power that the beginning of it promises us. <<

08.0 I Wanna Go
>> Very good song. I did tire of this pretty quickly though. Probably the song I tired of the quickest, so as it was announced as a single I was always a little hesitant about it's performance, but I was really wrong on that, for America at least. I think I can see why it was such a huge radio hit in the US (her biggest ever!) but I can't help but feel the video sold this song more than the actual song did. <<

10.0 How I Roll
>> OH HOW I LOVE THIS. It's ALWAYS been a fave of mine. I always imagined quite a dark and gritty video for this, so to see the performance of it on the 'Femme Fatale' tour and it being performed to bright, pink and vibrant colours shocked me, but I was actually impressed and it actually really worked and all I wanted from there on in was a video and for it to be a single. </3 I still think this is actually the closest we have got to 'Blackout'. <<

08.5 (Drop Dead) Beautiful [Ft. Sabi]
>> I had no idea that this wasn't really a favourite. For some reason I always thought it'd be the under dog of the album. Extremely catchy and quotable! "Steamin' like a pot full of vegetables". ICONIC. Sabi was a great feature. Britney forever lending a helping hand to the unknowns <3 <<

07.0 Seal It With A Kiss
>> I feel I should like this a whole lot more than I actually do. It HAS been growing on me since this rate though (and I'd probably rate it slightly higher now) it's very catchy ofc, but also a little annoying. <<

08.5 Big Fat Bass [Ft. Will.I.Am.]
>> will.i.am actually does GOOD for Brit *.* I still absolutely love this. The bassline is incredible. "I can be the treble baby you can be the bass". I really think this would've made a great single choice and would have made an interesting video concept! <<

08.0 Trouble For Me
>> First listen, this was "10 out of 10". It's been dwindling in popularity for me ever since, but I think I've found common ground with it now. A lovely little number, but that's it really. <<

11.0 Trip To Your Heart
>> I think my love for this is well documented in this forum so I'm not going to go into it too much more, even though I am one of only 2 people to actually adore it (R.I.P. Luciano mate <3 Missing you). I love the pulsating production throughout and I think the lyrics are really cute and sweet. Then we have the Aleko's Retrovirus Club Mix... OUTSTANDING. (No video link available though </3 Booooo) <<

08.0 Gasoline
>> This song is really good. It would have made a much more interesting single choice over 'Criminal' and I actually think it could've been a surprise hit all over! So much fiyah and personality and attitude. Something that's been lacking in Britney singles for a while! I think the video could've been explosive (literally) too! <<

06.5 Criminal
>> Never really got this and it being announced as a single was upsetting tbh. Especially over a lot of what was left to choose from. I did think it'd be a bigger hit than it was though. Especially in Europe. <<

08.0 Up n' Down
>> Britney throwing us back to some 90's EuroDance *.* This is so much fun and really funky. Would've made for another interesting single choice. Not sure if it'd have done better or worse than 'Criminal', but I imagine it would've done something more in Europe? <<

09.0 He About To Lose Me
>> The single that never was? There was still hope for all of us after Nicki Minaj chose to release 'Super Bass' as a single, despite it being a bonus track (and having HUGE success with it) I think this would have been a big hit for her. Especially on radio. I think it's the sort of song she needs to release in the UK in order to get a genuine hit again. <<

06.0 Selfish
>> Always has been my least favourite from the album, despite finding it fun I also don't think there's a whole lot to it. Glad it's just a bonus track as this is literally "bonus track fodder" to me. <<

06.5 Don't Keep Me Waiting
>> She did the hard-pop/soft-rock thing better, earlier in the album ('Trouble For Me'). This track is slightly annoying and I think 'Rock Me In' from 'Circus' is better than this too, despite this being ok.

Relistened to this album twice today, I think I'm (finally) coming round to 'Inside Out' (still hella overrated though) :') and 'Criminal' has never been anywhere near my favourite, and I was disappointed they chose that as a single over about 50% of the choices that were left sad.gif

Posted by: Tyler 6th June 2016, 11:50 PM

FINALLY! I'm glad you are finally starting to see the beauty of 'Inside Out'. I'm totally content with you giving it a 7.5 after all these years! Lol.

11. Till The World Ends
One of my all time favorite Brit songs. Since I heard it it has be jamming out and I turn it all the way up whenever it comes on. From the synth beats to the awesome lyrical chorus... It remains on my playlist.
10. Hold It Against Me
One of her strongest lead singles. Still not as awesome as the lead track on the album, but still an amazing addition to her single collection.
08. Inside Out
Good show on the vocals but I'm not a huge fan of ballads. Still a good showcase to remind people that she can sing.
10. I Wanna Go
Great third single ... It really propelled Brit again
08. How I Roll
Not a single I would have toured with .. But still a catchy tune
10. (Drop Dead) Beautiful [Ft. Sabi]
This would have been a better single than Criminal. Such a fun and catchy song.

07. Seal It With A Kiss
Ok track. Not the strongest but still enjoyable.
10. Big Fat Bass [Ft. Will.I.Am.]
Awesome follow up with Will I Am. Catchy and fun and awesome beat. Great workout song.
08. Trouble For Me
Ok song. Could have been swapped for another track in the cut list.
06. Trip To Your Heart
Not her strongest track but still a good contender. Would have served better as a bonus track on the album.
09. Gasoline
Fun and Dancy. Makes me excited when I hear it - deserved a release
08. Criminal
Not my favorite but still a good song nonetheless .
09. Up n' Down
Good choice to wound oit the album. Would have served good as a single but goood choice including it in the tour.
10. He About To Lose Me
When I'm feeling the need to connect with my inner beauty I play this. He about to lose me for real - who hasn't felt these lyrics?
10. Selfish
Another track that would have served better as a single. When I'm feeling ignored and spunky I throw this track on and get ready to head out.
06. Don't Keep Me Waiting
Good song but ultimately not one I would have released.

07.5 Till The World Ends

Great Party track gets you up in the mood, its very Kesha-esque but Britney does make it her own. However like most Kesha penned tracks it does get quite tiresome after about 10 listens. The production is on point in places but patchy in some.

10.0 Hold It Against Me

Well it was the first single for a reason the breakdown still KILLS me not even kidding this is EPIC pop and it was so succesful for a reason tongue.gif Still cant get over the breakdown and the killer beats and her voice. The slow chorus works amazingly well its so cohesive.

11.0 Inside Out

This song is Hot. Its just brilliant, its a real mid tempo but you could bust some serious moves with it. Production is flawless and I love the vocal distortion in the chorus. Apparently, Make Me sounds like this which is great news if its true!

08.0 I Wanna Go

Production is kind of generic but it such feel good song and although I haven't heard it in a club, I can imagine it being incredible! Such a strong catchy chorus. Also love the video, F** YOU, F*** YOU!

09.0 How I Roll

Very K-POP, always remind me of like Bubble Pop or something similar. I loved the snippet of this when it first came out and I still love the full song. Its so slick and the production is amazing! So many things going on at once but still blending as one into a cohesive sound.

08.0 (Drop Dead) Beautiful

I was never sure on this one at first to be honest but I have grown to really like it over the years. Sabi's verse (or should I say Kesha) is actually not that bad. Thee chorus after the drop dead bit is epic an enjoyable one at that.

07.0 Seal It With A Kiss

Not amazing like some of the other songs on the album but very enjoyable nevertheless. I love the "Uh Uh Ooohhhh"s in the chorus and the "Ah Hah"'s throughout the song are probably my favourite parts. Slightly generic chorus but it has a strong melody meaning it becomes quite addictive.

01.0 Big Fat Bass

I honestly hate this song. I have a very love-hate relationship with will.u.not to begin with but this song is dire. I guess if it was a solo song then it would be listenable but I can't stand the distortion that will.i.am places on his vocals. So annoying!

06.5 Trouble For Me

The instrumental to this day has reminded me of something but I still can't think what it is. It's a good song and quite a different to the other songs on the album. If i'm honest, it's one of the weaker songs on the album because it lacks a strong melody for me and the melody that is has feels really forced and awkward.

06.0 Trip To Your Heart

Always reminded me of Heaven On Earth this one which is a good thing. I love the transition from the verse and chorus but I find the chorus slightly disappointing and weak. It's very childish, almost like it was from a nursery song or something laugh.gif Maybe it's the instrumental which is like a triangle or something similar.

10.0 Gasoline

I can't believe this was never a single! Such a waste! This song is incredible, such a powerful chorus with an incredible catchy melody and powerful beat. I love the almost grit-like vocals during the chorus and then the heavenly high notes. Even the verses are catchy! Love it!

10.0 Criminal

I actually think this was a good single but I can't say I'm surprised it never set the charts on fire. It's almost chill and laid back and thats what I like about it. Lyrically, I quite like the song, I guess a lot of people can relate laugh.gif The chorus is quite infection for a song that doesn't have a powerful beat or rhythm.

05.5 Up n' Down

Never really got this one, I've noticed a lot of people love this and wanted it to be a single but it's a fairly average song to me. The chorus is catchy but it irritates me that it's not sung entirely by Britney and instead is this random males voice. It's quite repetitive and I get bored of it quickly.

09.0 He About To Lose Me

Now this is good song! There is something about the way she sings in the chorus but I absolutely love it! (Probably because it's not Britney! laugh.gif ) The verses are nearly as catchy as the chorus who those "Ah eh eh eh" at the end of each line.

9.0 Selfish

I can never decide between this or HATLM as to which is my favourite deluxe track. Now first let's talk about that intro! Already epic! I love the La La La's during the verses, I'm always a sucker for those. The guitar during the chorus is probably my favourite part of the whole song, love it! The chorus is infectious, just can't help getting the melody stuck in your head.

07.0 Don't Keep Me Waiting

I appreciate that she tried something different with this song and kind of went more Rock-Pop but I prefer a lot of the other tracks frankly. I must admit that the pre-chrous is incredible and honestly one of my favourite parts on the album. The vocals during the chorus also remind of Britney/ITZ which I appreciate. Also when I'm impatient I can use this song to make a reference which I always enjoy doing hah! tongue.gif

I must say I really admire the passion and ideas in this AF right now!

I shall get round to doing this soon.

Posting again with commentary...

10. Till The World Ends - Absolutely love this track. Should have been the lead single. Great video too, very 'Slave 4 U'.

09. Hold It Against Me - Another dance banger, I adored this song when it was first released, but my love for it soon faded, although I still enjoy listening to it. The video has some great moments, but overall I think Britney looks uncomfortable and its my least favourite video from her lead singles.

09. Inside Out - What a jam. Her vocal are on point and I love all the references to her old songs like 'Crazy' and 'Baby One More Time'.

10. I Wanna Go - Great choice of 3rd single from Britney, although it bombed in the UK strangely. Sounds great in the car with the windows down. Oh and I LOVE the video!

08. How I Roll - Rapney! I swear she says 'You can be my F**k tonight' or is that just me? laugh.gif This or 'Inside Out' should have been single #4.

07. (Drop Dead) Beautiful [Ft. Sabi] - Loved this for about two years, played it everyday in the car until 'Work Bitch' came out and now it's not really a song I listen to. That vegetables line tho. I heard this was a Chris Brown reject? laugh.gif

07. Seal It With A Kiss - This is the boyfriends favourite track from FF. Sounds really Summery and I can imagine if this had been released as a single, Britney would have been really sweaty with a drink round the pool. cool.gif

07. Big Fat Bass [Ft. Will.I.Am.] - Despite the auto-tune (although not as bad as BJ) it's a great track. It probably would have smashed as single in the UK. The video would have been HUGE.

08. Trouble For Me - Basically Meghan Trainor has covered this and her version is far inferior to Britney's. I love the tune and Britney sounds really sexy, despite the auto-tune.

07. Trip To Your Heart - Looking past the auto-tune, this is a really cool track, a very spacey vibe. I like how she reads out all the parts of the body she's gonna take a trip to - including someone's balls? laugh.gif huh.gif

10. Gasoline - I ABSOLUTELY love this song. It's basically Toxic Pt 2 for me and one of my favourite album tracks from Britney. It's definitely one of the tracks that if it comes on in the car it immediately gets put on repeat.

07. Criminal - Didn't get the love for this song at first, but something just clicked when I was listening to this song on holiday in Greece. The video was AMAZING of course as it was filmed in my home town of London. Flopped horribly in the UK but the album had been out over 6 months when this was released and she didn't even perform it on the FF tour.

08. Up n' Down - Another great track, would have made a great single in the US. I love her raspy vocals on this track.

07. He About To Lose Me - I believe this was Kylie's favourite track off FF and I can see why she likes it. Kinda overshadowed by Katy Perry's similar sounding track (Part Of Me, which wasn't very good although got to #1 in the UK.) Brit's vocals are on point tho.

07. Selfish - Never been a massive fan of this one, although I enjoy it more now that I did in 2011. The 'shellfish' GIF always gets me, so I always smile when this song comes on.

05. Don't Keep Me Waiting - My least favourite FF track. Really wouldn't have minded if this had been taken off and replaced with 'Scary'. Its quite different to her usual style and a bit rocky, so maybe that's why I don't enjoy it much? mellow.gif

08 Scary - Prefer this to DKMW, it's very poppy, a bit disco. Reminds me a bit of Cascada? biggrin.gif It's a shame it's not available anywhere in the UK, but I guess it will be another of those tracks the GP don't know about like Pretty Girls. kink.gif

I can't believe this wasn't on the standard edition but it seems like the best songs are always bonus tracks cry.gif I absolutely love the second half of the chorus were her vocals are altered and sped up!

Though I admit it has majorly grown on me. I have gone from detesting it to probably rating it a 7/10.

MORE.

Posted by: JosephOdell 14th June 2016, 04:21 PM

This is actually my second EVER listen to this album ohmy.gif first time since 2011 drama.gif so these will almost be like first impressions to me, for the non-singles!

10.0 Till The World Ends
This still just grows and grows on me strangely! It's such a huge banger and it ends up stuck in my head now. "Keep on dancing till the world ends" is my fave part.

11.0 Hold It Against Me
I remember when this got released almost OA/OS in the UK, it was pretty much unheard of at the time it seemed and it was all over the entertainment news from what I recall! Felt a real sense of excitement about it. I remember downloading it on iTunes too, pretty great memories of this song wub.gif That's what gets it the 11 over Till The World Ends, which I normally find quite hard to separate from this!

10.0 Inside Out
omg YES I am absolutely loving this, I don't remember it at all but that chorus is really great!! Think I'll be revisiting this a bit.

09.5 I Wanna Go
I love the pure joy of this song, the whistling is addictive and not irritating like it can be in many other tracks (looking at you, Maroon 5). Plus I will forever think of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1oGtuIhGLw iconic performance now. If radio got on board with this in the UK, I have no doubt that it would've been a huge smash, incredibly infectious and the UK public seem to love a song with whistling laugh.gif

05.0 How I Roll
Not enjoying this as much as I'd like on first listen, it's got parts I enjoy like the "bum bum bum ba da dee" etc. parts but the male sounding voice is a big no-no, feels a little bit tacky sad.gif

09.0 (Drop Dead) Beautiful [Ft. Sabi]
Loving this chorus, I imagine it would sound incredible in a club setting too! Think this could've made quite a good single actually, surely would've at least charted top 200 in the UK unlike Criminal drama.gif Sabi's part compliments the rest perfectly too I think.

08.5 Seal It With A Kiss
Another strong chorus, although unlike the previous track, I think I'm glad this one remained an album track because I don't think it could've done any better than what we got. It's a very solid album track though, starting to wonder why I never revisited this album after my first listen sad.gif

08.0 Big Fat Bass [Ft. Will.I.Am.]
I think this one may end up as a grower? It's fun and I like it a fair amount but compared to the two before it, in fact, I'm not really sure if I can compare it, they're very different lol. I do like will.i.am normally though and his rap is just as shit as usual and therefore iconic *_* Apparently this was used during S Club 7's comeback tour while they changed between songs at one point laugh.gif Pity I wasn't able to recognise it at the time lol. Having said all that, I ended up bumping it up from 7 to 8 by the end because it will be the album track I remember the most I'm sure, so job done I guess? laugh.gif

07.0 Trouble For Me
Solid album track, it's pretty good, but probably my 2nd least favourite so far. The intro music reminds me slightly of Meghan Trainor's Me Too laugh.gif

09.0 Trip To Your Heart
Liking this one a lot, feels like a nice change of pace after all the bangers we've had so far, but still in-keeping with the dance-pop sound rather than a casual piano ballad in the middle or something haha. A track I'll be returning to a lot I'm sure!

08.5 Gasoline
I wasn't too sure at first but I was positively bopping to that chorus by the end *.*

09.0 Criminal
I feel like this song gets a bit of a hard time in singles rates, it's always been one that stood out from this album for me, sure it's not one of her best ever but amongst her other singles, it stands out in a good way. Her vocals are pretty solid on it too. However, it's not one I've gone back to much recently, and in terms of the flow of the album, it does stick out quite a bit, so it doesn't get the 10 it would've had a while ago.

07.0 Up n' Down
I'm very familiar with this intro purely because of it always starting once I've listened to Criminal laugh.gif The song isn't bad but I think other songs do this kinda thing better on the album for me.

06.0 He About To Lose Me
I prefer the verses to the chorus in this one, the verses feel like they're leading to a much better chorus. Assuming it's not her singing that part either because it sounds nothing like her although I could be wrong! heehee.gif

09.0 Selfish
Really liking this, best bonus track of them all for me. Incredibly infectious chorus and solid production, think it should've been on the standard instead of something like Trouble For Me which is more average.

07.5 Don't Keep Me Waiting
Quite enjoying this and I like the fact it's something slightly different and less dancey than the rest of the album but it's not left a massive mark on me other than "enjoyable".

08.0 Scary
First ever listen for this one! Definitely think it was worthy of at least international deluxe status instead of any of the above four bar Selfish. Pretty great song!

Sorry the comments aren't that perceptive throughout, maybe it'd be better if I were more familiar with it all heehee.gif It will not be 5 years until my next listen though I can assure you!!! Really enjoyed the entire album, just further emphasises that I need to spend time getting familiar with all of her albums.

Love your review! You inspired me to have it bopping at work. Lmfao.

Yay for you loving "Inside Out"! It should have been the fourth single! 'Selfish' is also my favorite bonus track! Everything about it is glorious. Also, "He About To Lose Me" will definitely grow on you... "How I Roll", after another listen or two you will either love it or hate it, that seems to be how it goes.

Such a fantastic album. I almost see it as the yang to 'Blackout'. 'Femme Fatale' being the lighter/joyful and more flirtatious side of Britney, while 'Blackout' is the dark, mysterious, "f*** me in the bathroom and buy me a drink", side of Britney.

laugh.gif my impact *.*

Inside Out is really great, would have made for a great single even if I can kinda see why they picked Criminal, a change of pace etc. He About To Lose Me has potential to grow so I will definitely stick with it! Same for most of the album tbh, I enjoyed it a lot wub.gif

I'm so shit with Britney albums lmao, I've only heard the debut and the most recent two recently. Never heard Blackout or Circus. Really need to devote time to hearing everything properly drama.gif From what I can tell it really does seem like the anti-Blackout though, the singles alone really give it away if you compare both sets heehee.gif

So with you on this! I absolutely love the verses, but the chorus is such a letdown. Still one of my favourites from the album, but just a shame the chorus is so weak compared to the verses.

And you need to check out Blackout and Circus for suuuure heart.gif

Posted by: Tyler 14th June 2016, 06:10 PM

Yes! You need 'Blackout' in your life! 'Circus' is filled with bops as well.

Just know that every Britney album is glorious in its own way except Britney Jean

10.0 | Till The World Ends
Absolutely adored this from the very first listen. The “woah-oh-oh” is so infectious, can’t stop listening. The remix with Kesha and Nicki is hilarious, and I loved that she shut all the haters up by releasing the “dance” video.

09.0 | Hold It Against Me
I originally loved this when it first came out, but I think that might have been my hyping myself over it. I still really enjoy listening to this but I find myself enjoying the video more than the actual song. Still a solid lead single though and it was criminal (see what I did there wink.gif) to see it only get to #6 in the UK. The dubstep middle 8 is life though.

10.0 | Inside Out
This is the one I think I heard first because of the video that went around with part of the instrumental a few months before the album came out. It really intrigued me as it sounded like NOTHING Britney had ever done, even different to anything from Blackout imo. Probably in my top 3 of the album!

11.0 | I Wanna Go
This SCREAMED single when I first heard it, and I’m glad Britney thought the same. It’s a huge shame that she didn’t promote it properly in the UK; I think it would have done a hell of a lot better had she done a live performance somewhere. This is by far the best song on the album for me, uplifting and so much fun. Plus the video is hilarious (those whistling dogs!!!!!! laugh.gif).

07.0 | How I Roll
I still don't know what to think about this one. I like it, don't get me wrong, but it feels like there is something missing. Maybe it's the blokes voice, kinda annoys me! I still laugh though because it sounds like she's saying "where my pussy's at". laugh.gif

04.5 | (Drop Dead) Beautiful (feat. Sabi)
This is, in my opinion, the first "weak" song on the album. I'm not going to sit here and stan the entire album because it definitely has it's low points. Compared to the earlier songs it's just not as good, plain and simple. I also don't know who Sabi is and what they are doing with their life since featuring on this.

06.5 | Seal It With A Kiss
The mini dubstep breakdown saves this for me, it's pretty plain really, which is a shame because I think it could be so much better. I guess it stands out though because of the poorness of the song before and the song afterwards.

01.0 | Big Fat Bass (feat. will.i.am)
This is by far the worst song on the album. It's absolutely horrid and I really don't know what either Britney or will.i.am were thinking even recording this. Her vocals are so over-processed she doesn't sound real, and for what it's worth, I've had bigger, fatter bass for tea on a Friday night.

10.0 | Trouble For Me
This hit me hard from the first listen, absolutely love it so much. The instrumental is to die for, and it would have been a challenger for my 11 but the chorus lets it down ever so slightly for me. Still a phenomenal track and, away from the bonus tracks, is the best album track on the CD. Reminds me of a car revving it's engine! laugh.gif

09.5 | Trip To Your Heart
Now we come to the first "ballad" of the album, and it's freaking amazing. Whenever I listen to it I feel like I'm floating in the sky, so dreamy. happy.gif It's so different from the rest of the album and that's why it stands out. I actually thought this was what she sang on her Billboard megamix but I was getting mixed up with "Touch Of My Hand". The instrumental at the start is channelling COADF as well, which is only a good thing.

09.0 | Gasoline
The "spiritual" successor to Toxic. For the first 6 months of the album being out this was probably my 11, but it's slowly losing out to some of the others. Maybe if it was a single I'd still love it. Still a really good album track and it continues a string of really good songs after BFB.

07.5 | Criminal
I've really fallen out of love with this the more I listen to it. I thought this was truly epic when I first heard it as well. sad.gif Compared to most of the other songs on the album this hasn't really aged well imo and the windpipes sound quite clunky now that I'm reminded of them. laugh.gif

09.5 | Up N Down
This should really have been on the album instead of Big Fat Bass, and then should have been made a single instead of Criminal. Such a funky tune and incredibly strong for a bonus track. Whoever's idea that was needs firing!! laugh.gif I know I noted her robotic voice earlier but it works really well on this song.

10.0 | He About To Lose Me
If only I Wanna Go wasn't on the album, this would get my 11. I love this so much and it is a clear highlight for me. I don't even care that it's not all her voice in the chorus, it's just makes me so emotional listening to it. The instrumental is amazing, the lyrics are amazing, everything about it is amazing. I'm worried it's going to do badly here though which would be so upsetting. sad.gif

06.5 | Selfish
Only the second or third time listening to Selfish and I kinda like it. It's not as good as either UnD or HATLM and I can understand why it's a bonus track and not on the standard album. I don't really have anything else to say though, it's just....there? unsure.gif

08.0 | Don't Keep Me Waiting
This is a weird one. On one hand, I really like this and would have loved to see it on the album, but on the other I can totally understand the fact it sounds nothing like anything else on the album and would have sounded quite out of place on the standard album. Still, a different side of Britney on this album and it's definitely a good one.

08.5 | Scary
This is the first time I've heard this as I've never got around to listening. This is very unexpected, for some reason I full expected this to be a really sombre ballad. You should have seen my face when this started! laugh.gif. Lucky Japanese getting this to themselves is all I can say. tongue.gif

Another great commentary! Really showing how strong the album is to even non stans.

I really love 'Big Fat Bass'. I remember when the album dropped and hearing it in the club before the album was even released. It instantly reminds me of being 21, care free and just dancing like an idiot with a group of the most amazing drag queens. Agh, I live for those Britney blaring in the gay club moments.

Ps- did you want to keep your score for 'Trouble For Me' at a ten? Your commentary suggests maybe a 9 or 9.5?

Sorry Tyler I wrote that then changed the score because I felt it was stronger than TTYH but I didn't want to give that less than 9.5. laugh.gif

I'm listening and rating tomorrow. Gonna have a BRITNEY DAY I've decided ~

(Drop Dead) Beautiful needs me </3

Posted by: Tyler 15th June 2016, 04:31 PM

10. Till The World Ends
- This track is the perfect opener for the album. It is pop magic at its absolute finest. The slow build up to the last chorus along with that classic anthemic Britney feel, makes this track one of Britney's best. And even though the remix with Nicki Minaj and co-writer Kesha is also great, the original is still definitely sicker than the remix

09. Hold It Against Me
- Britney is responsible for bringing dub step to the mainstream circuit with the lead single off this album, even though she had dabbled with its use all the way back in 2007, with 'Freakshow'. The breakdown at the end is what really takes the song to the next level, IMO. POP IT LIKE A HOOD AND SHOW ME HOW YOU WORK IT OUT. Also, the music video is supremely underrated. That fight scene, what is air?

11. Inside Out
- THE SINGLE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. This would have slayed in America as the follow up release to 'I Wanna Go'. The production is absolutely mesmerizing, the vocals are outstanding. But, I'm an absolute sucker for Britney doing anything mid tempo and r&b influenced. I also have seen a couple people state the chorus just isn't as great as the verses and I couldn't disagree more.

10. I Wanna Go
- Britney's biggest radio hit in America and understandably so. I absolutely love the instrumental to this track. The guitar strumming behind her vocals is so simple yet so effective. SHAME ON MEEEE. Also, LOVE the video. That marked the beginning of her returning to showing off her fun side since her breakdown. And I think we can all agree she has slowly gotten more confident with herself since this single. It really shows when Britney loves one of her songs. She is not very good at faking it, is she?

09. How I Roll
- I think I'm one of the few people to absolutely adore everything about this song. It's so odd but, it works so well. Produced by one of Britney's staple producers, Bloodshy & Avant. Reminds me of drinking a margarita and laying out by the beach. I also choose to believe she sings, "You can be my f*** tonight."

08. (Drop Dead) Beautiful (Ft. Sabi)
- WHOEVER SAID THAT BEAUTY'S ON THE I SIDE IS A LIAR. TRACK #6 and the bops just don't stop. I'm starting to think ' Femme Fatale' might be tied with my second favorite album with 'In The Zone'. 'Blackout' still winning though. PS - RIP SABI AND HER VEGETABLES.

08.Seal It With A Kiss
- This track would be a 10, if the chorus had just a little bit more UMPH. The verses are perfect though, and I love the "oh oohs" throughout the song. I am now realizing that this album is the soundtrack of my early 20's, so many good memories attached to these songs. ALSO, I appreciate the subtle use of dubstep used on the track.

09. Big Fat Bass (Ft. Will.I.Am.)
- I SHOULD NOT LIKE THIS SO MUCH. I detest 'It Should Be Easy' and I only tolerate 'Scream & Shout'. Perhaps that is because, Will stays in the background like he always should. IT'S GETTING BIGGA, THE BASS IS GETTIN' BIGGA. This could have also been another huge hit for her in America.

07. Trouble For Me
- The verses and production are both great, but, the chorus seems almost like its missing something. I agree almost completely with Oliver's review on this song. Still, a great album track and I loved the performance of this on the 'Femme Fatale Tour'.

06. Trip To Your Heart
- I have come around to this track over the years, but, it's still one of the weaker songs on the album for me. The production is nice, I enjoy the lyrics. It just reminds me of a less attractive sibling to 'Heaven on Earth'.

09. Gasoline
- I forget how many single worthy songs are on this album. I don't really get the comparisons to 'Toxic', but, I guess I can see it slightly in the last half of the song. Her classic ad-libs really take it to the next level for me as well. I do feel like a duet with Gaga would have been perfect in this song. It just seems like it would work perfectly together.

07. Criminal
- Though this hasn't aged as well as the rest of the album and considering the fact it should have NOT been a single, I still have a soft spot for 'Criminal'. Its strongest asset, Britney's vocals.

08. Up n' Down
- Yet another missed single opportunity. Though it's not my favorite on the album it was practically begging for the single treatment. I remember it out performing every other song on iTunes besides 'Till The World Ends' and 'I Wanna Go' when the album was first released, almost reaching the top 5 on US iTunes.

09. He About To Lose Me
- The emotion felt in this ballad is really what makes it for me. IMO, this and TTYH should switch places, it's definitely the superior slow jam on the album. Unless we are counting 'Inside Out' because that's one boss ass track.

10. Selfish
- I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH. I literally love everything about it. That chorus just makes me want to find some Molly and dance with some glow sticks. It reminds me of almost what 'Lace & Leather' wanted to be on the 'Circus' album. BOOM BOOM BABY, PICK YOU UP IN MY MERCEDES.

08. Don't Keep Me Waiting
- A refreshing change of sound from the rest of the album. A nice mix of rock meets electro-pop. It's even better than I remember it being. Also, it's official. 'Femme Fatale, is officially my second favorite album of all time after Blackout.

08. Scary
- Why this was only released in Japan, I'll never know. It gets overlooked by many when it's a great exclusive bonus track on an album filled with potential hits. It's almost like Britney's answer to "Thriller". Just imagining the music video gives me anxiety.

AMAZING ALBUM. I totally forgot how much I truly love every track on it.

10.0 Till The World Ends
--What a stunning opener. It introduces the theme of the album perfectly: DANCE YOUR f***ING TITS OFF like a free bitch. The infectious "oh oh ohhhs" in the chorus are quite ghostly and always make me feel quite alone and isolated in the midst of the mayhem of the rest of the song. It's one of those special songs that can make you feel so uplifted but also quite sad and mournful at the same time. A brilliant combination and varies depending on the mood I hear it in. The final "sunrise" middle-8 is euphoric and my favourite moment of the entire album but the song just falls before the final hurdle of making it as my fave FF song ~

09.5 Hold It Against Me
--A song that defines my 2nd year at uni and dancing like a complete lunatic on dance-floor clubs trying to recreate the music video. A bold lead single, channelling a new style of music for her but maintaining the magic and warmth of the Britney we all knew and loved up to that point. I love the double meaning of the title, the embrace with a lover and also the strength that such a relationship can have and the desire to hold on through troubles you might face. You might think she's crazy and hazy but her spark lights up in magestic style here.

07.0 Inside Out
--This seems to be getting cries of "underrated" in this rate and while i've never really paid much attention to it before it's starting to really grow on me. I've always seen it as the song sandwiched between the brilliance of the album and for that reason it's almost lost and forgotten because the singles overpower it. But inside the sandwich there is a slice of goodness and i'm glad this rate has made me pay closer attention to this.

11.0 I Wanna Go

WHERE TO START. Firstly, I have always loved this song - while I don't think I was as enamoured with it as the first two singles it did stuck around in my chart for a while and when the dust of the album settled it became the song I returned to the most. It's absolutely BONKERS but all the better for it. A totally zany track of escapism and FUN and just the right mix of infectious beats, odd lyrics and quirky amazingness. The music video is one of my favourite Britney videos too because it's just her looking damn sexy, being cheeky and OWNING her performance. She's so watchable and the song is so listenable - it's no surprise it's such a big radio smasher in the US - JUST LOOK AT HOW CATCHY IT IS. Also that performance up there has given the song brand new life for, iconic doesn't even come close *__* this song is really good smile.gif *claps*

04.0 How I Roll
--The first dud moment of the album for me. It's decent but a bit throwaway and with some off-putting vocal decoder effects and just not really one I return to a lot. I like her "dum dum dees" but those weird orgasmic cries throughout make me :')

09.0 (Drop Dead) Beautiful [Ft. Sabi]
YASS SABI!!1 What an absolute tune and so close to being my favourite album track on here. I might be the only one to love it but for that interspersion from Sabi alone it is EVERYTHING. I don't even know who she IS but if this is the only thing she does in her entire career she can officially say she's made it. BOY COME OVER HERE WID YO SEXY ASS everything.

07.5 Seal It With A Kiss
--I adore the opening of this. It's quite 'Alien' in places and I think she built on this song quite well for that in the later album. Really freaky at times but properly loving and delicate. The harsh production alongside Britney's lovely tones work perfectly and the chorus explodes at just the right amount. Quite a diverse song and one that I feel might be over-looked when really it's a solid album track with cheeky undertones ~

00.0 Big Fat Bass [Ft. Will.I.Am.]
--he doesn't even deserve a MENTION. The worst thing to happen to music in the past decade for me and i'm sorry but Britney is worth SO MUCH MORE. Next~

04.0 Trouble For Me
--I feel like I should like this more than I do, it's quite 'Circus' at times and I ADORE that album but it's just a bit too much. Maybe on 'Circus' it might've sounded better but on here it comes across quite out-of-place with far too many words being thrown in my ears. I do like the breakdown but that is dropped throughout but the chorus is too mish-mash for me to properly enjoy. It needs more refined PUNCH.

06.0 Trip To Your Heart
--This has a wonderful ethereal chorus but the verses let it down majorly for me. They're quite basic and forgettable. The song is very whimsical and an example of "could've been so much more but ultimately falls a bit flat". Oh well, I still enjoy it which is why i've given it above a 5/10 but I just love the sentiment of "flying away on a trip to your heart" - what a lovely message/image to convey heart.gif

08.0 Gasoline
--BANGER. True story, I was listening to the album on my way back from work and this came on as soon as I walked past a petrol station and could smell the strong (addictive) smell of gasoline *_* properly banging and intense and so CHEEKY. Bitch wants to taste, swallow, ingest her fluid to power up and so it's a song we can ALL RELATE TO. I love the metaphor of Britney (or a lover~) turning into a machine waiting to be powered up. But even away from the crude take on the lyrics, it's quite a special song of being able to spark and ignite the flames and feelings in someone else.

08.0 Criminal
--No it shouldn't have been a single but it is a solid song and probably actually suffers from the fact it was released. It would've worked much better as a solid album track rather than a weak(er in comparison) single. Still I do enjoy it and much like Rihanna's 'Man Down' or Gaga's 'Judas' there is a thing with pop girls attracting bad boys, and with my reknowed FETISH of all things bad I can relate to this cool2.gif I just think the song is too ploddy and restrained and doesn't really ignite or explode as much as a Britney single should, A solid song though and an interesting departure from what else was released on the album!

06.0 Up n' Down
--Not quite the 20/10 she sings about but a bit of a guilty pleasure. There's not really much to this song except the music.gif~~sick beat and chorus. It works wonderfully as an album track, offering a bit more of what we've had before in the album but with a bit more fun and not taking itself too seriously. The chorus is actually amazing, beats dropping, rooms turning sexy, I could watch her get down~~

10.0 He About To Lose Me
--OK bear with me because is the one song on the album that makes me overwhelmed with emotion. She has done it in the past with her ballads, but this song, coming so close to the end of a party album just hits me like a train everytime and i'll try to explain why. First and foremost, on its most literal level it's a song about worthlessness, loss, heartbreak and finishing something good. I have struggled for years with coping with people being apart from me and a song like this just speaks to me effortlessly. The self-doubt she creates in the song is beautiful and so chilling. Yes this all happens in the verses, she sings so emotionally about her loss of control for her partner but i'd like to argue a case for the chorus too. The chorus is her realising she's at loss but trying one last time not to be lost. It's sung with vigour and passion and her slur and mumbled vocals add to the power of it. A totally beautiful song and my favourite album track and up there as one of her ALL-TIME greats. I have never really revealed my love for this song much but in my listen throughs today I have realised its true power and it's reconnected with me. A total GEM.

07.0 Selfish
--Back to the party banging tunes now and one of my favourite of those. These bonus tracks are good lmao much like on some of her other albums. The chorus is the clear highpoint here, with the BITCH being selfish and fearless and fierce. She owns the song and while I usually forget about its existance most of the time, when I do hear it's always a pleasure.

06.0 Don't Keep Me Waiting
--This is very dynamic and such an explosive end to the album but for it's far too much going on to properly take in. I'm usually still reeling from 'He About To Lose Me' to lose total control and so i'd rather have had a more sombre and refined ending. Still the chorus is very fun and energetic and it's a good song. It really reminds me of something else too that I cannot put my finger on thinking.gif

03.0 Scary
--Nick why you keep demanding this be noticed. It's pretty shit lmao. Not will.i.am bad but very forgettable and messy and useless imo sad.gif Oops~ have a 3 for Nick though cheer.gif

WHAT A GOOD ALBUM I never appreciated it at the time (in fact I think I *hated* most of it) but it's really matured well and i've begun to appreciate it a lot more. Particularly the more subtle moments of it. A lot of my opinions on the songs have changed recently too!

YAS AT THAT COMMENTARY.

Love your write up for HATLM. It's crazy because I didn't really notice it much in the beginning, but, over the years it has really blossomed into one of her best tracks. Her vocals really bring that song to life, it's probably the most emotional song by her, for me, after 'Everytime'.

I'M MAD AT YOU FOR NOT LOVING 'HOW I ROLL', THO. </3

'Everytime' and 'Born To Make You Happy' were the other songs I was thinking of. These are her most emotional songs for me with 'Sometimes' somewhere up there too <3 HATLM is such an interesting song, and so moving in the process :'(

Ooh I keep forgetting to add 'Scary'. So can I rate that an 8 please, Carol.

IF YOU HAVE STILL YET TO RATE 'SCARY', PLEASE DO SO ASAP.

If you could edit it in to your original rate, id be very greatful! If it's not rated it will just receive its average score in place! Thanks. If I have time I'll try and PM the members who left it out, due to my mistake.

Unless anyone completes a commentary, these are those in the running for winning Britney's upcoming album. You will be gifted it on iTunes as soon as it's available for pre-order. and unless the deluxe is over 20 dollars, I will be gifting that version to the winner. Thanks again!

This is closed. Don't know when results are gonna come. Prize is definitely still coming as soon as the album is announced.

Might be absent for a while. Sorry in advance. Not posting it on social media, because I don't want to be part of that attention spectacular. But, I had a friend pass away. Love you guys. Keep being awesome.
