RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Renewed for Season 2 on WOW Presents Plus and BBC Three, Casting Officially Begins
BY SPENCER NIEMETZ ON NOVEMBER 6, 2019 5:17 PM

We’re here to slay another day, UK. RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has officially been renewed for a second 8-episode season on WOW Presents Plus and BBC Three! This comes with the news of the first season, which airs its sixth episode tomorrow, breaking 6.5 million streams on the BBC iPlayer. So start your engines, sisters, because casting starts NOW.

RuPaul said: “I want to thank the BBC and all our fans for their overwhelming support of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. This season’s queens proved that Britain’s Got Charisma Uniqueness Nerve and Talent and I want to see more! Here’s to another season of love, laughter and light!”

WOW Presents Plus, which celebrates its 2nd anniversary today, is the streaming home of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK outside of the UK and Canada, serving the weekly gaggery to over 190 countries. The streaming service is also the home of UNHhhh, Werq The World, Fashion Photo RuView, Tammy Faye: Death Defying, and more of your fave World of Wonder staples.

Casting for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 2 closes on November 15th, 2019. That’s right, Mary, time is tight. Click here to register your interest if you’ve got what it takes to be the UK’s Next Drag Superstar.

The new eight-part season was commissioned by BBC Three controller Fiona Campbell and Kate Phillips, the BBC’s entertainment chief. The executive producers are RuPaul Charles, Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell, Sally Miles, Bruce McCoy and Ruby Kuraishe.

The first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK continues on WOW Presents Plus and BBC Three until November 21st.

6.5 million viewers on iPlayer — did they even expect it to be such a success? Deserved.

Auditions closing so soon! They must be filming this earlier than they did season 1?

i work in quite a middle class office and EVERYONE is talking about it or at least knows about it. it's been promoted fantastically and seems to be resonating to an audience WAY past what i expected. this season is a definite return to form for the franchise.

So happy it's been renewed wub.gif The first season has been done so well - the streaming figures on BBC iPlayer don't surprise me! It'll hopefully be at 10 million+ by the time the series ends.

Filming is starting again next month according to Alan Carr! So maybe airing just before Season 13 of US Drag Race?

Omg that judge will be so fitting lmao

I hope they address the filming break in the show itself. I think they filmed up to episode 4 or 5 before covid halted production

Yeah, they've filmed four episodes, they're going back at the end of November to film the last four episodes but I believe they still want to push ahead with airing it in January before S13 and AS5, from what I understand.

So if it does air in January then I guess we will get announcement for the cast in like December?

Same

There is a good opportunity to work it into their first maxi challenge or runway — something to do with showing the growth they've made since hiatus.
