Even if Leona had just scraped to #1, I think the fact that one of the tracks was also charting lower down the top 40 and had cost it a comfortable victory would have been noted and you wouldn't have seen many more double-A releases. It was bound to die a death once downloads were free to chart without a designated physical release attached to it. The McFly #1 from 2007 was less notable because it was so physical heavy, although Transylvania did chart in its own right at #85.

Not a top 20 single, but I think Paul Weller made the Top 40 with a Double A in 2010?

Yeah Paul Weller had a double-A side that got to #26 in 2010, possibly the last example in the top 40.

Apart from Raye of course.

Would an EP still chart in the singles section? I remember Gary Badlow’s Jubilee album that got to #1 being more of an EP really.

The details escape me but i'm sure there was a case of an EP making the lower regions of the chart recently (having been top 20 on First Look thanks to physicals). I don't think it was officially credited as such by the OCC though.

There were 2 top 100 singles chart entries last year that got there primarily due to physical sales of an EP (Aphex Twin and boygenius). But yeah, they weren't listed as EPs in the chart, they just had the EP sales added onto the downloads and streams of the first track on the EP.

(may have also been the case for V's 'Slow Dancing' as the song ended up charting weirdly highly coinciding with the parent album (EP length but seems to be officially counted as an album) disappearing from the album chart midweeks to the final chart but that's entirely speculation, there was some weird stuff going on in the component charts that week)

Ah yes, Aphex Twin was the one I was thinking of.
