Woo, very much into this.
A new album is coming - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert in September ! Much hype, Grey Area remains a total classic jam. : )

Adore this, love how cinematic the production is 😍
Stunning album cover too, can’t wait to hear the rest.
Grey Area will be hard to top but this is already a strong start!

It's Simz's childhood friend Inflo (SAULT) on production duties again so it should be a similar quality on that side of things hopefully. I mean I really love the production on this too, the sweeping stings / bold orchestration just oozes confidence and reminds me of the type of sound that Massive Attack had circa 1991, and it's really wonderful.

Not looked into the lyrics too much but I spotted an Amy Winehouse reference!

Yeh love ‘Wildfires’ by Sault currently if it’s the same artist!

This is so good heart.gif I was lucky enough to see her when I went to a Gorillaz gig and she's just as talented live.

Bumping this because the album is finally out now (surprised no one else has commented on this yet or indeed on any of the other singles?)

'Introvert' took a few listens to click with me properly but it's really quite a spectacular song after getting into it. The following three singles ('Woman', 'Rollin Stone' and 'I Love You, I Hate You') were all a little less over the top but I have been a fan of all of them as well - and actually just realising now that really none of the singles sounded anything like each other, the versatility! - looking forward to hearing the rest of the album. I never really 'got' the critical hype around her previous album so I'm pleased that I've been enjoying this era a lot more!

Also it's taken me months to realise that the title of the album is spelling out 'Simbi' (her nickname) with its initials. I thought until now that it was a slightly weird title grammatically but I suddenly like it a lot more now. x

Really enjoyed the album on first listen as much as her debut(was shocked to be reminded by you Bre of its lowly no86 position upon release). This era seems a lot more polished and produced as she is more well known but still keeps the authenticity she broke through with. Her best song is current single ‘I Love You’ for me. It’s a long play though!

Some of the spoken word stuff is a bit cloying but on the whole I really love this, the production from Inflo is excellent and all the singles have been huge 10/10 standouts for me!

This album felt a little bit on the long side (not least with the overload of lengthy interludes which didn't really add much to it to be honest) but still an enjoyable listen, felt very cohesive. She picked out most of the best tracks to be singles already (including 'Point And Kill' which I hadn't heard yet at the time of my last post) but also thought 'Little Q, Pt. 2', 'Protect My Energy' and 'Standing Ovation' were standouts out of the album tracks - fantastic storytelling on 'Little Q, Pt. 2' in particular, probably a lazy comparison but it reminds me a lot of some of Dave's hardest hitting songs.

In any case, it was certainly better than the other big rap album that dropped on the same day tongue.gif

I didn't check for it initially because I haven't been won over by what I've heard in the past but I need to drop by and say 'Introvert' is a wonderful track, exactly my sort of thing.

I don't know how far I'll get into the album but I think I'll check it out tomorrow on that basis.
