Sinead I can see being killed off.

Bethany however I think will be recasted within a year or so of Lucy leaving as she’s like a legacy character and is part of one of if not the shows most famous family. I’ll miss Lucy Fallon the most of the departing characters.

Kate’s exit is pleasing as her character does need resting. I do wish the show didn’t announce exits so far in advance though but that’s always a downfall of Corrie. I’d much rather wait until like a week or so or keep it a total shock for viewers and don’t announce unless it’s a issue based story like Aidan’s suicide where it has to be announced before hand.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Michelle’s sons were the next to leave or Imran.

On another note is Gemma a popular character with the GP? She’s very marmite with my friends who watch the show but I definitely think the producer sees her as being like a national treasure she’s obviously his favourite given her presence lately. And given that her mother is joining the show (they’ve casted Jane Hazlegrove who played Dixie from Casualty) it’s set to continue.

Sinead is an awful character so I wont miss her but its alot of exits coming up whatever the reason is. The Kirk singing storyline is horrific and I really think the character has run its course. Gemma is a character I like but I can see why some aren't fans.

Kirk should’ve went about ten years ago tbh.

Kirk, Beth, Sean, Izzy, Dev, Gemma and Chesney are right at the top of my dream axe list.

With Gemma I think it’s because shes in almost every scene why I’m liking her less.

I’m hoping we get a few weeks break from her at least. I also feel Gemma and Chesney just don’t work in the slightest awful as a couple.

Yeah it's just the overuse of Gemma and what they've lowered her to, I don't dislike the character herself but she's terrible with Chesney and as said they really have forced her on us far too much. We get it, she used to be rough but is now a decent person and she has a good heart but makes mistakes :')

Agreed with Kirk, Sean, Izzy and Dev needing to go, Chesney probably could too tbh. I don't actually mind Beth but I'm in the minority there I know! I'd also definitely axe Brian and Cathy, both completely pointless and neither have really ever been a part of anything proper since they've been in the show! I'd also argue Maria needs to go as she's not even having her man misery storylines anymore, not since Aiden died. I know not every character is going to be all go all the ime, and some like say Moira or Mary don't always need big storylines and work as comic relief or background characters, but the ones I mentioned are just pointless.

Alison is pretty much carrying the whole show, the best actress in soap right now. Great episode tonight from all though, intrigued at where they'll take Gary from here as I think he's one of those characters with a lot of potential who never really gets much of a chance to shine, of course we've had the loan shark saga though and now this so I'm glad he's getting even more airtime now.

I disagree - I've found the Carla SL a bit boring - and I hate that its turned one of my favourite characters (Peter) into a simpering wimp! I do admit - Alison King is doing a good job - I just find the SL boring.

The only constant in the whole series for me is David - Jack is the best actor in soapland. And I loved the way he (I'll put this in spoilers)

The Carla storyline is more miss than hit.
That said,i find Alison to be one of the most overrated actresses across all the soaps.
Kath, i agree about Jack P Shepard to the point he is carrying the show right now and is among the top actors across all the soaps.

Ooh that's a big return, perhaps more for the actress than the character.

Today marks 45 years since the first appearance of Gail! I hate how the show has treated the character since nearly the start of the decade, but Gail will forever be one of the defining faces of Coronation Street. I can remember all the family dramas, particularly with David, in 2006/7 from the time and I've since watched the whole of 2000 and seen parts of Richard Hilman reign of terror, and she was one of the most natural performers and you really believed and felt for the character.

Found myself re-watching the 40 years anniversary documentary from 2014 which is quite bittersweet as it reminds you how great the character was and how the show treats her now.
