Hello guys!
So today I have taken the difficult decision to step down as BJSC moderator. I've been very aware that my activity levels in the past few months in particular have been lower than I think they should be, and this is a result of both a slight decline in interest as well as a recent substantial increase in hours in my job! I've always said that as soon as I know I'm no longer the best person for a moderating job and have given everything I can then I'm not going to hang on to a position for the fun of it. I said exactly the same thing with the Pop forum a couple of years ago and now it is time to do the same thing here.
With having less free time I have had to decide which of my online duties I wish to continue with, and my focus has to be on my work with ESCXTRA.com which many of you will know I became a part of this time last year. My activity has also been slipping substantially in the Eurovision forum but I hope that by stepping down here, this will allow me to spend a little bit more time in there with the added advantage of that having a significant overlap with my aforementioned ESCXTRA work! Of course, I'll keep a close eye on my activity and if I realise its time to leave there too then so be it... we shall wait and see!
So yes, I've been a moderator here for just over two years which has absolutely flown by! With the 10th anniversary BJSC celebrations approaching quickly, I wanted to make this decision fairly fast as I know I'm not going to have enough time to contribute as much as I would want to and would need to. In addition, I feel the spin-off forum is slipping slightly in momentum too due to a lack of time for me to give input, so I think it's the perfect time for a new lease of life in there. The spin-off forum was definitely my baby and I'm proud that it has become a hive of activity (up until the last month or so at least!). I'm sure there will be a further announcement in the coming days as to who will be my replacement.
Finally, I want to thank everyone who was involved in giving me this opportunity that I'd wanted for so many years. I still have the good news PM from Phil in July 2015 saved firmly in my inbox! I know it was considered a big risk to take me on, but I think it was one that paid off. BJSC as a whole, both main contests and spin-offs, seems to be in a stronger place than when I joined as a moderator. In fact, it's perhaps the strongest I've seen it in my six years here. There's so many exciting things coming, I can't wait to see the culmination of lots of hard work behind the scenes!
Of course I will be staying around to participate in the contest for the foreseeable future, I have to get that elusive victory!

Aw Ryan! This is such a shame to hear about because you've been an amazing BJSC mod. You revitalised the spinoff forum and were an ENORMOUS help when I hosted 89, whenever I had a query you were always on hand to help. I understand your reasoning for stepping down though and it's good of you to admit this rather than just holding on to the position for a while longer when you cannot commit anymore. Your shoes will be tough ones to fill!

It's sad you're leaving this mod job Ryan but I'm so glad things are going so well for you at ESCXTRA, as a huge Euro fan I've noticed how much that website has improved so much in the past year (and I'm sure this is down to more than just yourself!) but I agree with your decision to stick with that.

Very sad to see you go, It was great to see spin offs become regular and I remember you being a great help when I first hosted a spin off.

A bit surprised at this because tbh I don't think I actually noticed you being much less active around here than before! (Apart from a little in the spinoff forum I guess but I thought that had just kinda gone quiet for other reasons). Shame to see you standing down but of course I can see why, thanks for all the work you've done over the last couple of years.

It's a shame to see you step down Ryan but it sounds like it's for your own benefit so I'm glad you're making steps towards the right balance. I'm just glad we're not losing you and Ramrynia entirely from this forum 
Hope the work over at ESCXtra is going well!

Sad to hear this but thank you for all of your hard work, Ryan! I'm hardly the most active BJSC member but you've always been a friendly face around here and keen to give a helping hand

Aw Ryan it's a shame to see you go as you've done wonders with the spin off forum in your time, it is very admirable that you can admit when it's time to move on though as not everyone can do that! I hope everything goes well with your job and your esc stuff

Ryan, thank you for being an amazing mod, you've done wonders to revive the spin-off forum and you were an absolute help during BJSC 88 last year. Congrats on your work on ESCXTRA!
Should be interesting to see who will replace Ryan. Maybe Rich will finally be offered this mod job as one of the OG's?

Thank you Ryan for bringing your personality and hard work over the last 2 years as BJSC mod with us! You've helped me a lot too whenever there are times i couldn't research fully and chipped in with the other mods, but I still can't believe you're leaving us so early =[[[[[[[[

Sorry to see you go Ryan but I guess you have to prioritise your mod positions/ projects and if you feel you're less active then that makes sense. Glad to see you'll be sticking around for the contest though!
