Calvin and Ellie released the church version of miracle earlier today Surely it’s there’s next week! The church version is pretty disappointing, I was expecting more of a DJ Sammy Heaven candlelight mix. Can’t see this version making huge waves but rooting for Calvin this week to see dance at the top again. |

Tyler indeed added to NMF at #4 now btw (although it's just 'DOGTOOTH' and not one of the other new songs so who knows why it couldn't have just been there straight away), JISOO also added at #5.
Wow a very strong debut for Melanie there (wasn't aware that she had even released another single ngl) and imagine it should climb tomorrow with the album release so looks like that may be a top 40 contender indeed. Davido's album bomb is doing pretty well on Apple, 'OVER DEM' up to #47 and a total of 6 songs top 100 and 14 top 200! Don't think it'll do anywhere near as well on Spotify though much like Asake's album. Melanie is the only other newie in the Apple top 200 so far at #150. |

Respectably, this a very odd comparison of a song that went to #1, what? 2 years ago. Regardless of the sales it took for #1, it got there naturally regardless after 10 weeks of almost making it (I think it was the #1 song without Christmas songs for a while), and didn't use any tricks to get there. Ed is doing perfectly well, but wouldn't be debuting at #1 without physicals, which none of his previous #1s needed - it's fine to discuss that, just like many did when Little Mix exited their imperial phase, too - as most acts do If Ed was a female artist who buzzjack fawned over the narrative would be how well he is still doing 12? years into his career to be still getting number 1s and having the biggest selling album of the last 3 years. If you cant see that then that is only because your bias is blinding you. |

If you cant see that then that is only because your bias is blinding you. Many people actually said how Adele wasn't doing as well with her last era on here, and that was a huge #1! So really not true tbh. |

Yeah; so many popular female artists have had their falls, underperformances or as many of us like to call “flops” discussed at great lengths here: Katy, Rihanna, Little Mix, Gaga, Beyoncé… no one has been immune.

I actually think the big female pop stars get far worse in the "being successful but being called a flop because previous songs were bigger" department. A lot of male artists can under-perform or actually flop with barely anyone noticing or caring. Ed Sheeran seems to be the exception to this in my opinion, but there's a lot more vitriol directed at him, with the female pop stars there's it's mostly joking/teasing or posts with an "it's a shame" vibe that I see.
Also, Ed did have a borderline flop song last year, The Joker and The Queen. I don't think it even made the year-end top 100 did it? And that was with it being out for the whole year and the single version out near the beginning of the year iirc. I don't think his new single will be like that, even if it doesn't pick up later on I think it will still actually end up being a hit by normal standards. |

I know it did sorta well numbers-wise but it's one of the Ed songs that completely crosses people's minds

Ed is one of the biggest stars on the planet rn. He is not going to be immune from discussion. He's getting the same treatment as all the women who perform similarly to him do. It's probably a bit more noticeable coz the women on this forum are gonna have more than just one or two hardcore stans who defend them/argue for them. That's just Buzzjack preferring female pop. You know exactly what memberbase Buzzjack has coz you have this same damn defensive attitude towards Ed EVERY TIME he releases something. It's boring. Move on. Block and/or ignore. It's really simple.
Go and stream Tori Kelly - Missin' U instead and get her to number 1 or something instead plz. |

If Adele (or any other female artist since we’re so obsessed with them apparently) was as active/ubiquitous as Ed Sheeran has been I’m sure people here would be just as happy to get a break from that domination too. We can’t all pretend to be fans soz
Fully agree everyone should stream and download Tori Kelly’s new single, support good vocalists! This post has been edited by No Sleeep: 31st March 2023, 05:57 PM |

Tori Kelly rapidly becoming the new Rina Sawayama / MUNA in being brought up in a chart context despite zero indication she's likely to chart

Also semi srs question, why does it bother you when people say they would like to see new songs become hits (even when it’s obvious they won’t be one)? It’s such an odd thing to get annoyed over lol.
P.s. stream Tori Kelly - Missin U x |

It only really 'bothered' - I'd say confused more than bothered - me with Rina (and MUNA to a much lesser extent) because discussion of her as if she is or is about to be some mainstream chart star / huge name has been so prevalent despite being entirely baseless for pretty much her entire career (and not only on here), even to the point where people seemed constantly disappointed at her continuing to not chart her singles as if there was ever any reasonable expectation that she would. It just seems to me like some of her fans would be a lot better off just enjoying the music for what it is and not being so bothered by the lack of chart validation. If she was a formerly big name who stopped having hits I'd understand that more, but she's literally never had a hit (apart from the Charli feature ofc but I'm not convinced that song made any difference to her career / name recognition as a whole rather than just being a one off viral hit because of people recognising the sample) so it always slightly baffled me where that discourse came from.
(obviously not saying all or even most of her fans are like this, just enough of them that it was noticeable in a way that I have not noticed with similar artists with cult fanbases but no chart presence) To be fair I kinda forgot / didn't know until looking it up just now that Tori Kelly had a few minor hits in 2015 so the idea of her suddenly having a comeback hit is a little more plausible than I thought. Although still doesn't exactly look imminent. By all means manifest if you want, my post here was in jest, just noting that there were multiple chart-related posts in the thread for the song as well x |

(although I'd like to propose we instead make 100 gecs 'money machine' or anything by JPEGMAFIA a hit instead if we're doing that xo)
