we're here! sorry it'staken so long, idk how many will still be interested in this but it's worth a go at least~
~ You have FIVE nominations, use them wisely~ all (eligible) nominated songs will advance to the main voting round ~ Your choices have to fit under the Indie/Rock/Alternative umbrella (mostly any artist whose music would be posted in *this* forum, some artists like George Ezra, Years & Years, Halsey etc are probably too 'pop' but i guess you could go on a song-by-song basis) ~ Your choices can be: any track released or promoted as a single in 2018 / any album track from a 2018 release / any track that reached its chart peak in 2018 (provided they don't clash with the rule below) ~ You can't nominate anything that featured in a previous edition (here's last year's list for reference) -x- Last day for nominations is 23rd March 2019 (subject to change) |

The top 5 eligible Indie, Rock & Alternative songs from my 2018 year-end list were...
1. James Bay "Pink Lemonade" 2. The 1975 "TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME" 3. The Kooks "All The Time" 4. Razorlight "Carry Yourself" 5. Vance Joy "We're Going Home" [excluded "Feel It Still" and "Live In The Moment" by Portugal. The Man as they were on the 2017 list] [excluded "High Hopes" as I imagine it'd be considered too poppy, but that'd otherwise have topped this list] So many other great songs that would've been nice to include such as Blossoms "How Long Will This Last", IDLES "Danny Nedelko", The Vaccines "I Can't Quit" and We Are Scientists "One In, One Out"! Feel It Still had it's UK chart peak in 2018, so it would count if you wanted to include it.

I'd say Panic! and that particular Chvrches song is pushing it tbh, up to Seven I suppose!

Does Jessie Ware "Overtime" count? I think that was posted in this forum, but I'd consider it dance-pop. And then of course Years & Years get posted in this forum so it's hard to use that as a barometer

Years & Years is the perfect definition of POP, there's nothing alternative, nothing rock, nothing indie about them
same for Jessie Ware |

Yeah I've never really seen why Y&Y are posted here, just because they're a band, it doesn't make them 'alternative'.

The classifications are weird to me too. Billie Eilish's threads are all in Pop but her music is way more Alternative than plenty of stuff in this section.
Also ~ Grimes feat. HANA - We Appreciate Power Let's Eat Grandma - Snakes & Ladders Metric - Dark Saturday Mitski - Geyser Superorganism - Everybody Wants To Be Famous |
