I remember not loving Fade at the time and it kind of flew under my radar, but it’s sounding really good listening to it again now
Symphony too Hoping for Jax Jones to be Number 1 but the whole top 2 is amazing either way |

#002. Oliver Moldan ~ High & Low (feat. Jasmine Ash)
I can be your North Star, and we'll be on fire until we're found Genre: Dance-pop Label: TONSPIEL Album: non-album single Date entered: 27/01/17 Chart sales: 1,861,000 Chart run: 64-15-5-6-5-5-5-4-6-6-3-2-2-2-3-3-4-3-3-4-4-11-16-22-22-21-21-19-18-25-32-35-41-49-50-62-65-56-56-51-67-71-80-60-… [44 weeks (so far)] Video: Commentary And so this year's second-biggest song goes to Oliver Moldan and Jasmine Ash, with a song you're unlikely to have heard of unless you closely follow my charts or BJSC as it unfortunately did not manage to become a chart hit, other than being a minor Spotify hit in Moldan's home country of Germany. Released late in 2016 it only appeared on my radar a few months later but quickly rose into the top ten to spend 19 consecutive weeks there. It was going to be my BJSC entry for the 92nd contest, before finding 'Saving Light' last minute and sending that, but this eventually got send in '94 and got us another top 20 finish. The song has all the right ingredients of a fab dance song, with hooks all around, I especially love the saxophone bits and personally I'd love to see sax solos make another comeback in dance music. It's proper upbeat and energetic all throughout, and if it passed you by I strongly recommend it (of course, it's my 2nd fave song of 2017). Moldan sadly has yet to follow-up the song and so far looks likely to become not just a one hit wonder but the biggest one this chart has ever had. EOY #2s of the past 2014: Oliver Heldens (feat. Becky Hill) - Gecko (Overdrive) [FAVE] 2017: Oliver Moldan (feat. Jasmine Ash) - High & Low 2013: Daft Punk (feat. Pharrell Williams) - Get Lucky 2012: Swedish House Mafia - Greyhound 2016: MK & Becky Hill - Piece Of Me 2011: Rihanna - S&M 2015: Pep & Rash - Rumors 2010: Cee-Lo Green - F**k You [LEAST FAVE] Very high this but not quite managing to beat a certain other Oliver. Top 100 Chart History Oliver Moldan 2017 02 High & Low (Oliver Moldan feat. Jasmine Ash) MILLION SELLER Jasmine Ash 2017 02 High & Low (Oliver Moldan feat. Jasmine Ash) MILLION SELLER Hot 100 Y/E Chart History Oliver Moldan 2017 02 High & Low (Oliver Moldan feat. Jasmine Ash) Jasmine Ash 2017 02 High & Low (Oliver Moldan feat. Jasmine Ash) Which can only mean this year's #1 song goes to... 'You Don't Know Me' by Jax Jones (feat. Raye)! |

#001. Jax Jones ~ You Don't Know Me (feat. RAYE)
see your iPhone camera flashin', please step back it's my style you're crampin' Genre: House Label: Polydor UK Album: non-album single Date entered: 16/12/16 Chart sales: 2,165,800 Chart run: 26-66-38-5-4-2-2-2-2-4-4-4-3-3-4-4-5-4-3-3-4-4-5-6-6-11-11-17-18-25-24-24-25-22-23-36-33-37-38-34-36-40-46-42-42-49-60-61-64-… [50 weeks (so far)] Video: Commentary You all guessed it, it was always going to be Jax Jones at #1 here, helped massively by spending 50 out of the 52 weeks of the year in the chart, as well as spending 22 weeks in the top 10 which is a record (about to be beaten by 'Lonely Together' but still impressive). This is undoubtedly my favourite song of 2017 so the point system here is very accurate, with this being the only song to pass 2 million chart points. What makes this song the 13/10 moment it is then? For one the brilliant production which samples the groovy bassline of 'Body Language' and turns it into an upbeat commercial house banger. Secondly the fab and sassy vocals of RAYE who is perfect for this song, from her 'ooh na na ay's to the spoken interlude, it all works. The song is just super addictive and never gets old. It's still in my chart now making it my longest chart runner ever. The only thing it didn't do was make #1, where it was blocked by BJSC entry Aly & Fila while the hype for that was stronger, but that now means Jax Jones becomes the first to have an EOY #1 with a non-#1 single, and RAYE also the first to have an EOY #1 with no #1s to her name at all (Jax's 'Instruction' would later spend two weeks at #1, though that only made #24 in the EOY). I am so looking forward to Jax Jones' 2018, and I really would love an album from him but not sure if he's planning one. EOY #1s of the past 2013: Avicii (feat. Aloe Blacc) - Wake Me Up [FAVE] 2011: LMFAO (feat. Lauren Bennet & GoonRock) - Party Rock Anthem 2017: Jax Jones (feat. RAYE) - You Don't Know Me 2014: Mr. Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) 2016: Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl 2015: Avicii (feat. Simon Aldred) - Waiting For Love 2010: Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup - We No Speak Americano 2012: PSY - Gangnam Style [LEAST FAVE] It's a strong contender for Fave EOY #1 but at the moment putting it above LMFAO and Avicii would be a bit of a stretch, will have to see how it ages but it seems to be doing that brilliantly at the moment. Top 100 Chart History Jax Jones 2014 10 I Got U (Duke Dumont feat. Jax Jones & Kelli-Leigh) MILLIONAIRE 2016 48 Go Deep 2015 12 Yeah Yeah Yeah 2016 18 House Work (Jax Jones feat. Mike Dunn & MNEK) 2016 02 You Don't Know Me (Jax Jones feat. RAYE) MILLION SELLER 2017 01 Instruction (Jax Jones feat. Demi Lovato & Stefflon Don) MILLIONAIRE 2017 04 Breathe (Jax Jones feat. Ina Wroldsen) RAYE 2016 54 Shhh 2016 09 By Your Side (Jonas Blue feat. RAYE) 2016 02 You Don't Know Me (Jax Jones feat. RAYE) MILLION SELLER 2017 24 Decline (RAYE feat. Mr Eazi) Hot 100 Y/E Chart History Jax Jones 2014 23 I Got U (Duke Dumont feat. Jax Jones & Kelli-Leigh) 2017 01 You Don't Know Me (Jax Jones feat. RAYE) 2017 24 Instruction (Jax Jones feat. Demi Lovato & Stefflon Don) RAYE 2017 01 You Don't Know Me (Jax Jones feat. RAYE) 2017 98 By Your Side (Jonas Blue feat. RAYE) So that concludes 2017's chart. Come back in about ten months when we'll start all over again with the best songs of 2018. Thanks again for following this thread for however long it's been going, and with 19 pages it beats 2016's record for my biggest EOY topic. The full chart will be posted on page one. |

Yessss amazing number 1 ofc I remember watching it rapidly become a hit at the start of 2017 and being so over the moon about it, just the fact it would have been a number 1 if not for Ed! It's so fresh sounding in today's chart and I'm so glad it's caused Jax Jones to become a name in the UK!

Woooo You Don't Know Me getting the #1 it deserves!!
2013: Avicii (feat. Aloe Blacc) - Wake Me Up [FAVE] 2011: LMFAO (feat. Lauren Bennet & GoonRock) - Party Rock Anthem 2017: Jax Jones (feat. RAYE) - You Don't Know Me 2014: Mr. Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) 2016: Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl 2015: Avicii (feat. Simon Aldred) - Waiting For Love 2010: Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup - We No Speak Americano 2012: PSY - Gangnam Style [LEAST FAVE] Quite an all-star cast of previous EOY #1's here I adore all of them apart from Gangnam Style which suffered greatly from overexposure at the time (and I don't think I've even heard it since 2013 now) |

Love your entire top 4 (haven't listened to Fade but may do so now) but I'm very surprised you've ranked You Don't Know Me above Waves, This Girl, AND Waiting For Love since those were all several-week #1s IIRC!

I was actually surprised to see I Would Like slaying so hard in your chart but I'm pleased, it's a brilliant song and I'm glad it's deservedly high here!! I really like it! Wasn't surprising for me anyway because Zara is one of my faves.Places, Feels and Solo Dance are great too Symphony is a stunner, so glad it's nice and high! Was great seeing just about everyone on buzzjack get into Symphony, it is so good though.Hoping for a Jax Jones win! and a Jax Jones win we have! I remember not loving Fade at the time and it kind of flew under my radar, but it’s sounding really good listening to it again now it's one of those songs that I never properly loved but really enjoyed for a long time, takes a few listens but it's so good.Symphony too Hoping for Jax Jones to be Number 1 but the whole top 2 is amazing either way Yessss amazing number 1 ofc I remember watching it rapidly become a hit at the start of 2017 and being so over the moon about it, just the fact it would have been a number 1 if not for Ed! It's so fresh sounding in today's chart and I'm so glad it's caused Jax Jones to become a name in the UK! that would've been amazing if it did go to #1, perhaps it would've if we were still in 2014 but a #3 official peak and a million chart sales is very impressive.Woooo You Don't Know Me getting the #1 it deserves!! that being a novelty hit was always going to lose some of its value over time, it definitely was my favourite song that year but 'Greyhound' and 'Language' which made up the rest of the top 3 have both aged better.2013: Avicii (feat. Aloe Blacc) - Wake Me Up [FAVE] 2011: LMFAO (feat. Lauren Bennet & GoonRock) - Party Rock Anthem 2017: Jax Jones (feat. RAYE) - You Don't Know Me 2014: Mr. Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) 2016: Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl 2015: Avicii (feat. Simon Aldred) - Waiting For Love 2010: Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup - We No Speak Americano 2012: PSY - Gangnam Style [LEAST FAVE] Quite an all-star cast of previous EOY #1's here I adore all of them apart from Gangnam Style which suffered greatly from overexposure at the time (and I don't think I've even heard it since 2013 now) and it's satisfying for me to give YDKM a #1 finally after it sadly lost out in the weekly chart Love your entire top 4 (haven't listened to Fade but may do so now) but I'm very surprised you've ranked You Don't Know Me above Waves, This Girl, AND Waiting For Love since those were all several-week #1s IIRC! all of them were but YDKM out-lasted them in the top 10 and the chart overall! It's ridiculous how the song refuses to get old for me, it's now on its 58th week in my top 100 and at #31 too (it did leave the top 40 for some time but got a significant boost from the EOY #1 effect).Surprise surprise I do love You Don't Know Me though, really glad to see Jax get the recognition he deserves Such a banger though, my EOY #1 couldn't have been anything else!Great chart overall, I've enjoyed following this! thanks guys!~ |

Ooh so high for High & Low! It was very breifly on my potentials list before you sent it, it is a decent track. You Don't Know Me obviously not a surprising No.1 here but a great track. Lovely to see Symphony so high too.
The original of Fly Away is decent but the JJD Remix is something else, spectacular, been loving that a lot recently <3 Saving Light was definitely a worthy BJSC winner and a great entry from you, small production and melody elements of it remind me of True Love Never Dies by Flip & Fill, which is obviously a great thing. More trance in BJSC this year hopefully. Interesting looking back on all of your EOY top 10s from this decade too, 2010 does stick out as not being very dancy at all for the most part! It was very breifly on my potentials list before you sent it, it is a decent track. You Don't Know Me obviously not a surprising No.1 here but a great track. Lovely to see Symphony so high too. I really love 'High & Low', I actually sent it to '92 before changing it last minute for 'Saving Light' as that was an instant favourite and I had a feeling that would have done better (which I was right about). I'm glad I finally got to sent it in '94 anyway and top 20 was a pleasing result. You Don't Know Me and Symphony were by far and away the best commercial hit singles of the year, both truly amazing 13/10 moments. I've been playing the JJD remix in place of the original for months now too, I'd personally put the original on top (it has 99 plays for me whilst the remix has 43) but both versions bring out the song's greatness in different ways. Have you also heard the VIP of 'Prelude' by TheFatRat and JJD? I'm going to make it my personal mission to get more trance into BJSC. Although I won't be helping the cause this month as I'm sending deep house (for a change, I don't send as much of the genre as I used to). Very happy that 'Saving Light' got received so well anyway. My 2010 EOY was highly influenced by what was popular on the radio and in the charts, and it's fair to say I'd rank it much much differently now. Here's roughly what my top 10 would be now, though still it's not as strong as later top 10s, 2010 just wasn't a great year comparatively. I'd still put Yolanda at #1 now but a bit of a reshuffle otherwise. 1. Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup - We No Speak Americano (#1) 2. David Guetta feat. Rihanna - Who's That Chick (#26) † 3. Rihanna feat. Drake - What's My Name (#21) † 4. Swedish House Mafia feat. Pharrell - One (Your Name) (#19) 5. Swedish House Mafia feat. Tinie Tempah - Miami 2 Ibiza (#13) 6. Avicii & Sebastien Drums - My Feelings For You (#52) † 7. Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand (#6) 8. Far East Movement - Like A G6 (#15) 9. Cee-Lo Green - F**k You (#2) 10. Tinie Tempah - Pass Out (#5) 11. Black Eyed Peas - The Time (Dirty Bit) (#11) 12. Sidney Samson - Riverside (#20) 13. will.i.am feat. Nicki Minaj - Check It Out (#10) † also appeared in 2011 EOY which explains the low-ish position in 2010's EOY Thanks Rich! |
