Representing Danaelanda this contest is Swiss house producer Croatia Squad who teams with L.A-based singer Lika Morgan for 'Make Your Move', their reinterpretation of Dave Armstrong's 2003 song of the same name (based on an 80s song) - released on Enormous Tunes (how appropriate). Here's what Beatport has to say about this: "Another collab from our buddy CROATIA SQUAD. This time he teams up with Los Angeles based LIKA MORGAN who made quite some noise for her last year with her great cover versions. BJSC 85: Results Commentary
BJSC 85: Croatia Squad & Lika Morgan ~ Make Your Move Semi Final: 20th (of 30); 50 points Final: 39th (of 41); 87 points Disastrous performance for our nation It all seemed well and good for Danaelanda when it was announced we had qualified into the final, but little did we know that we only just made it, finishing 20th in the semi. Fans came in the final but very few of them as we finish third from last. Croatia Squad and Lika Morgan have now been ordered to do 20 hours of community service for letting our nation down. It is also well worth noting that whilst we have had 7 qualifiers in a row, only one of them actually made the top 20. It appears our luck as a nation is beginning to run out and a forthcoming DNQ seems likely. What will be the future of Danaelanda then? Well I think we're going to send a non-house song for the next contest and see where that takes us. Top 10 commentary In more pleasant news, it was revealed last night that Beaverdonia had won the contest with their representatives Bang La Decks and 'Aide'. The bass/trap song scored 12 points from Danaelanda and 333 points in total, giving Beavers their first win and first top 10 also, though it would have been their second if they remembered to vote the first time around. Medhelnia DNQed for their first 2 contests but turn it around massively this time, getting a silver medal with Parade Of Lights which finishes with 303 points. N DNTN and #00274E are well known for their alliance with themselves. They finish together at the top of the scoreboard too with Platium and Infinity Ink getting them to #3 and #4. New Lexico gets Scottish gaelic influenced Celtic Woman into the top 5, which was tipped to be a big contender for the win although Beaverdonia topped most of the odds and towards the end of the voting period, Medhelnia. Pupok get their fourth consecutive entry into the 5-6 region with the Haschak Sisters getting them to #6 with the novelty 'Daddy Says No'. Such consistency. Aeroche and Jadakissnia tie in points although Aeroche finish a place higher, at #7 with urban-dance crossover 'Ridin Round'. Jadakissnia also sent a bit of a crossover entry, a dance song inspired by Bach titled 'Toccata'. TARO Bellamia finish in 9th. Hopefully this good finish inspires them to send more good entries as we rarely get any of those from the country. Hendinia were tipped to do very well initially with Mike Perry 'The Ocean', although received a bit of a backlash for being a global hit on Spotify by the time the contest got going. Danaelanda weren't swayed by any negativity though as we gave 18 points to the entry, and it gets a respectable finish of 10th. #11-41 commentary Yehesi recently scored three top 3 hits in a row, though the big success couldn't last forever and they slip out of the top 10 this contest, finishing in 11th however which is still a great position. Their entry 'Dead V' just missed out on points from us. The other official dancebloc nation in this final Ethanola get a respectable position of 19th with their great entry from Billie Black, a bit of a change from Ethanola's usual sound but it was a success nonetheless. Skall, who have yet to join the dancebloc union (DU) but are very much qualified for it, finish in 21st with bleepy house instrumental 'Just' from Bicep, which like Ethanola's entry scored big points from us. Other countries turning to dance this month: Cor Lupus make their comeback with JR JR and help from Robert DeLong (12th), Kylienips recycle Danaelandan entrant Juventa and multiple countries' entrant Kelly Sweet but don't do so well (35th), Cumulonimbia return to the final with Kaytranada (36th), Kluminican Republic send a Young Bombs remix - the 2nd one that BJSC has had, but get a non-voting deduction (38th) and Land Of DW send a foreign language tropical house inspired entry from Antti Tuisku (40th). Yes this was a shame it finished in 39th, I expected it to at least be around where your previous few entries finished! I think this is my 2nd fave of yours since I joined after Juventa.
Also, shame you weren't in my Semi!

Thought this would have done similarly to Sega Bodega, did deserve a bit better! Was quite a grower for me.
(At least your semi 2 result was somewhat in line with your final result? Can't be said for that many songs this month )((PS Celtic Woman are Irish not Scottish. x)) |

Time To Say Goodbye (To Qualifications)
Well it had to happen sometime, we get our worst position since 'Man x Woman' over 2 years ago, and our first DNQ after a seven-contest streak. It also becomes our fourth worst performing entry of all time, only making 23rd in the semi-final. It's official, Danaelanda has lost its touch and its relevance. The outrage over the result has sparked a Danaelandan Civil War as discussions take place as to what went so wrong and who is to blame for our flop. |
