Last minute poll magic.gif who do you think will win it? It was only a couple of days ago where 99% of us thought it would be Bieber but now there's quite a few of us who think he'll get popped to the post. I've never been rooting for stream advantages as much as I am now laugh.gif

Unfortunately I think the NHS Choir *may* just snatch it but ive never hoped to be more wrong (and I'm not even a particular fan of Love Yourself)

I still think Justin Bieber's got it. If the choir had the kind of lead they're having earlier on in the week then they could have got it but I think it's too late now. Bieber still has the streams advantage.

Bieber still has it at the moment. Not gonna rule out NHS Choir entirely, but it really depends on how much further they can go with the download push, and I don't think it will be far enough.

Pop brat has this one tbh. Campaigns no longer have the power in combined charts.

As much as I want NHS to slay the chart, I think bieber will get it

(not bothered too much though)

I reckon Bieber will take the position, unfortunately. I'd rather the NHS make it though as can't stand him and at least it's something different, albeit not a great song though. This year's chart has seen a distinct lack of competition for the Christmas number one race.

I guess the media are going to attribute the victory to Bieber's tweet, when there's no way that would have created the 31,000 difference.

I think there's a decent chance it could have... (of course it's hypothetical either way you call it, kudos to him / his PR team for taking the easy moral highground I guess laugh.gif)

Bieber has sold close 3 million chart sales in 6 months. When was the last time someone did this? Was it Adele, Lady Gaga, Rihanna or someone else?

NHS Choir had a total of 154k as of its last week in the chart. Definitely won't have sold over 160k and will probably be many years until it does so!

Chart Run:
NE: 113 (first entry: 21/12/13) 1w
RE: 1-29 (second entry: 31/12/15) 2w

Easily the worst chart run for a #1 but there's a large handful of #1s that have sold a smaller amount.

How did the re-release come about?

It was more re-promotion than re-release, essentially due to the campaign to get it to Xmas #1 that I think was fronted by NHS staff themselves, and obviously the NHS and its future is topical atm. I think that was kind of the aim back in 2013 but it was clearly not as pushed as it was last year.

On the subject of topical songs, it's a wonder right-wing groups haven't tried to adopt Dido's 'This Land Is Mine' laugh.gif

[Chorus:]
This land is mine but I’ll let you rule
I let you navigate and demand
Just as long as you know…this land is mine
So find your home and settle in
Ohhh, I’m ready to let you in
Just as long as we know…this land is mine
