A tribute album of Talking Heads' classic live album/film 'Stop Making Sense' has been announced! I believe only one artist on it has been revealed so far... Paramore!
I'm very excited to see who else will appear. |

Intrigued by this. Stop Making Sense is arguably the greatest live concert film of all time and one of the best live albums ever made.
Given how hugely influential the band are it'll be interesting to see who else is on it. |

Paramore's cover of 'Burning Down the House' is out now! It's pretty good, although I'd never choose to listen to it over the original.

Very much a by the numbers cover that is so similar it's almost karaoke (and I feel she's slightly oversinging it in places). I'll stick to Talking Heads' original version personally.
This is fine though and if Paramore covering it opens new people up to hearing the originals then that's only a good thing. |

The overiding feeling I'm getting from the couple of tracks I've heard is that, aside from the obvious vocal differences (no-one sings quite like Byrne), musically the covers are pretty straightforward, and by the numbers.
Yet what made Talking Heads' version of Take Me to the River so great was that it was distinctively their own take and quite different from Al Green's classic. Plus this Lorde version feels devoid of any spark. Still holding out that Miley will do the business though. |

I agree with that. The Lorde cover is a little more different than Paramore’s, but neither give me a reason to listen to them over the originals.
