The News & Politics Forum is a space for open debate, discussion and the communication of ideas, which seeks to encourage the sharing of wide-ranging opinions, robust, and in-depth conversations about the big issues of the day. As moderators we want to make this a place where everyone feels that they can contribute and join in with the discussion. With this in mind, and the right for freedom of speech in this forum, you must therefore at all times please abide by the following rules:

1. No Trolling
Please choose your words carefully and respect the rights of others, do not simply post something with the purposeful intent to coerce some form of response from another individual. Any inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages used to disrupt normal on-topic discussion in a thread will be deleted by a moderator. Repeated violations of the rules can and will result in a permanent or temporary revocation of posting privileges.

2. No ad hominum personal attacks
This is taken very seriously. It is fine to disagree profoundly with others and to even argue in at times heated debates, however any abuse or attack that is directed at another user will result in temporary or permanent suspension of posting rights. We must not make this an unpleasant space where others feel they are unable to contribute for fear of being attacked.

3. Please keep discussions on-topic
Many of the general threads have a wide-ranging scope for debate and these will allow for some often large changes in the topic under discussion, however please try to keep the debates separate and avoid posts that do not add to the discussion, or are merely repetitions of what has already been said.

Thank you.
