There’s still the outside chance that most, if not all of the 76 (public and hidden) supporters he had move to Penny.

Nadhim Zahawi has just had this article pulled from the Telegraph and has now switched to Rishi Sunak. What an absolute 🐍
(Reminder that in the dying days of Johnson's time as PM he threatened to resign unless he was given Chancellor- and then told Boris Johnson to resign). laugh.gif 🐍🐍🐍🐍

I entered politics because I wanted to help make sure Britain succeeds. Having fled Iraq under Saddam Hussein, I feel an ineffable debt of gratitude to this most special country. We are a nation of fighters. We bounce back. With a renewed focus on delivery and the right leadership, we will weather the storm.

That leadership must once again come from Boris Johnson.

Also I love the fact that Boris is still claiming that he had 100. Oh yeah, sure Jan - you just ditched your wife and kids, left ur holiday early to fly back to campaign all weekend and then say 'oh, well - now is not the right time'.

Just f-o into the bin of history you third rate Chamberlain.

The Tories just assume most of us have no short-term memory and won't notice that they have said something that completely contradicts something they said a few months ago. Unfortunately for them, we don't have a bunch of Winston Smiths erasing all the evidence of their past statements.

Unsure whether I am glad Johnson isn’t running or not. At least, it’s saved the country from more exposure to his incompetence, lies and superficial character but it would have been good from the point of view that the investigation against him is likely to throw up all sorts and hopefully end in him having to stand down as an M.P. That certainly would have been the final nail in the coffin for the Tory party!

Lol at Johnson saying "I had the numbers but decided not to run anyway" line.. lying arrogant toad to the last.

Interesting to see a lot of the far right/GB News crowd are now incandescent with rage and laying into Sunak as a 'WEF, Globalist Snake" - and many of the comments are saying he's not really British. Wonder if that will eat into the Tory vote share that hoovered up in 2019 a lot of the UKIP/Brexit Party type vote. They might not vote or there may be a resurgent far right party.

I have 102 votes to be Prime Minister. You wouldn't know them, they go to a different school (Harrow).

They'll probably all fall into line behind Sunak soon enough but there's a couple making statements they won't easily come back from. Yeah, there will be some racists, but not in any big numbers to matter especially among the MPs, and the voters will just huddle around their ever-decreasing in relevance Racists Party.

Well looks like Sunak will be out next PM but also looks like he is going to have a tough job uniting the Tory Party as many of the Johnson backers are now calling for a general election. Bring it on!!

This was always going to be the case, no matter who was PM. You have a Conservative Party so badly affected. You have the snakes and MPs who will do anything to keep their jobs and seat, you have the UKIP/economic liberatarians who infested the Party post Brexit and then you have the more moderates who are trying to stop the economy from self destructing even further. You have a Party here which is under massive civil unrest and I don’t think there is a unifying figure. It even seems like the current ERG are split over who go back.

I think PM Sunak will be the thing that sinks the Tories come the next election.

I simply can't see their old white base of racists voting for a brown dude

Mordaunt has conceded, which means Rishi Sunak will be PM.

Deep joy.

I got a corker for the next thread. RIP mk 2, you were short but very lively (a sixth of the posts of the old thread in less than 2 months, well done!)
