According to The Sun, Jesy has been approached to make a documentary and she is deciding whether to do it or not.

—-

AS far as solo music debuts go, Jesy Nelson had a rotten start.

The singer — who has always come across to me as kind, polite and supremely talented — was poorly advised from the off and saw her big moment embroiled in controversy and criticism.

But after taking time out of the spotlight, those close to Jesy tell me she has been offered the chance to put across her side of the story, warts ’n’ all, in a documentary.

A source said: “Jesy has had a really rough ride since leaving Little Mix.

“So much has been said about her and she wants to go on the record and speak directly to her fans about everything that has happened.

"Jesy’s solo career has been a difficult road to navigate.

“Last year she had to put the brakes on her album and now she is preparing to forge a fresh path.

“This documentary could help her set the record straight and allow people to see what it has been like for her.

“A production company is in touch and has been working with Jesy about what she would want the doc- umentary to look like. It’s been nerve-wracking but exciting for her.”

Following the difficult reception to track Boyz, which saw her embroiled in a “black-fishing” storm in October 2021, Jesy walked away from her record deal with Polydor.

She spent part of last year working on a record before taking a break and quitting social media.

The singer travelled to America, Asia and around Europe to get away from the UK but returned towards the end of the year to get herself together ahead of her next comeback.

Jesy released a previous documentary, Odd One Out, in 2019, which was hugely well received and earned her a National Television Award.

In it, she spoke movingly about the pressures of being in Little Mix and how her life had been turned upside down by nasty internet trolls.

I’m sure if she gives the green light to this tell-all it would do just as well.

I’d be interested to see this and see if it would turn around her fortunes at all.

This could be a bad idea if she doesn't own up to her mistakes and learn from them etc. A defensive "woe is me" documentary is not going to cut it.

I agree, this could go terrible if she doesn't address certain things and apologises.

She has to go about this the right way...

I really hope this will reduce the amount of hate she gets because the amount of disgusting tweets I see about her is insane, especially ones about how she should kill herself and how 'ugly' she is. I feel like the trolling is much worse than when she made 'Odd One Out', I know she has done wrong but I don't know how she copes with it.

This stuff from fleur and James is so disgusting. So it’s fine to bully/mock people live on air that suffer severely with mental health? Weird behaviour.

That’s my thought. I really do wish her the best, but she does need to take responsibility and accountability for some things.

Apparently a black woman lightly criticising someone for over-wearing fake tan and then messing up every aspect of her own career through overconfidence and poor choices is... that woman bullying the other one?

Well thank god Jesy has her 35 fans to defend her against the menace of Fleur East.

Yawn, yet Fleur and others pick and choose when someone should get cancelled but has no problems with Ariana Grande for the same issue. People attacking Jesy but praising Ariana, it’s laughable laugh.gif

Jesy is considerably lighter than 2021 but it’s clear some people enjoy dragging someone over something from years ago laugh.gif picking ‘be kind’ whenever it suits them and dependent on who it’s about.

People attacking her for simply existing at this point is insane. Looking for any reason to attack this woman is concerning and weird. I don’t see what people get out of the constant hate for her just breathing.

Jesy is trash. Two radio DJs making a joke about her is not bullying.

This is the bridges she burned with her blackfishing nonsense and the stress she put Little Mix (specifically Leigh) through with her exit and the Nicki Minaj stuff.

Consequences. Nobody in the industry takes her seriously.

Edit - Fleur didn’t even say anything! It was the two white guys and yet again we have Jesy stans attacking the black woman. laugh.gif

OKAY!
I thought at the core of human rights was choice?
Choice about what you do with your body, your identity, who you sleep with, etc.

Your hair, your skin, your face, your lips,..... your CHOICE!
Choice has consequences, but where do we draw the line?

People undergo cosmetic procedures (such as lip-fillers, nose jobs, etc) that could mimic features of another ethnicity; is that problematic? Do they get backslashed/cancelled?

If we say that a white woman getting tanned and appearing racially ambiguous undermines the struggles of black women, do we also think a man who adopts gender ambiguity by cross-dressing, or surgically alters their sex is undermining the struggles of women?
Where does the line get drawn?

As has been stated, many other white celebrities have done exactly as Jesy, but I don't remember them getting this much backlash.

If Jesy wasn't in a girl group (with mixed heritage girls), would she have faced same criticisms?
BTW, Jade has had braids, but I suppose that's acceptable as her mother is half black. At what point in one's black ancestry do we say one is no longer black enough and can no longer express elements of black culture? Grand parents? Great grand parents?

I hate to say this, but Jesy was my least favourite member: Her energy sometimes appeared dampening and confusing.
However, I think she's getting a lot more hate than necessary.
The breakdown in their relationship is likely complex, and I can bet it was way beyond the "blackfishing" issue.
I suppose all we've heard about how she left (Jade saying they lovingly advised her about blackfishing, and Leigh-Anne texting that Jesy blocked them and cut them off) has been one-sided: we are yet to get Jesy's side of the story. There are always lots of contributory factors without painting any one person as evil. Perhaps that's what she will tell in the documentary.

The only objective/proven major misstep to me was that instagram live with Nicki Minaj. It was awful, unnecessary, even made BBC evening news, and seemed to make a mockery of Little Mix's image of female solidarity.
That she laughed when Nicki was capping isn't the problem - what else would she have done without appearing rude in a live session that's apparently in her favour?

With what she knows now, I guess she's probably wishing she was never put in a group. There would have been no comparisons with her looks, size, and now skin colour; and she probably wouldn't have had the mental health struggles she had.
The bigger problem is that the comparisons are unlikely to end, because she'll always be remembered as who she was at the height of her fame - A Little Mix girl!

I always feel that someone who makes mistakes like Jesy did should be given time to acknowledge those mistakes and grow, but I do think some people wil never let go of it. I always feel James Arthur is a good example of this. People still hate him for stuff he said many years ago, which he has apologised and (in my opinion) atoned for

But the issue is that Jesy did not appologise and instead doubled down on it with a full on racist and promo campaign video where she not only was black fishing more than ever, but recreated a black-centered video with her white mates pretending to be 'taking over a whites-only house in suburban racist america'.

Not only that, she then went on instagram live and proceeded to mock and belittle any criticism and her black ex-band mate in the process.

She is still yet to appologise today.

It's quite f***ed up when you think about it.

And for Slayer - Ariana addressed the situation and appologised back when the backlash got to intense during the Thank You Next era, and has since changed her ways too. Let's not pretend that these two stories are the same. Yes, Ariana also was problematic, but she dealt with it and addressed it, and changed. Jesy doubled down on it to an extreme extent and rightly suffered the consequences.
