BuzzJack Music Forum _ Dance _ Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa - "Scared to Be Lonely"

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🕊 2nd January 2017, 12:48 AM

New track from Martin Garrix called "Scared to Be Lonely", which was premiered during NYE in Myanmar and it's a collaboration with Dua Lipa. Listen to a preview of the track https://www.instagram.com/p/BOvF_VzASTn/.

Posted by: Auld Lang Snake 2nd January 2017, 01:13 AM

I wish Martin did the epic trancey buildups to the drop like he used to do in tracks such as Animals or Wizard. His buildups are so dull now.

Posted by: Danuary 2nd January 2017, 09:58 AM

oh my god yessssss

slay our new year martin garrix (and good to see dua lipa on this too)

Posted by: Juliano 2nd January 2017, 06:25 PM

The chorus sounds like it's gonna be big, Dua sounds amazing as usual.

Posted by: The Snake 2nd January 2017, 06:54 PM

I wonder will Ethan come back to Buzzjack just to comment on this? He seemed to like all dance music songs but Martin Garrix was his favourite which he reserved some extra embellishment on his comments, the Martin Garrix + and X logos from which he got from somewhere. laugh.gif

This sounds better than In The Name Of Love admittedly, the drop isn't quite as annoying and I prefer Dua Lipa's vocal to Bebe Rexha's one in ITNOL

There is no chorus though in future bass songs, the bit at the end is the drop, and then after an instrumental for a while there will be another verse.

Posted by: CodySleighBell-y 2nd January 2017, 08:12 PM

This already sounds amazing

Posted by: cqmerqn 2nd January 2017, 08:35 PM

Sounds decent! Is it confirmed to be a single tho?

Posted by: jase. 2nd January 2017, 08:46 PM

YES! Dua sounds amazing as always. Get her on everything tbh.

Okay then, the bit that Dua sings before the drop, sounds amazing and the drop sounds very good. rolleyes.gif

Dua Lipa has already diminished excitement for me. sad.gif

Posted by: djgrafdemon 3rd January 2017, 09:55 PM

oh my goodness, this is sooooo In The Name Of Love 2.0
can't rly believe it'll get on board as well as MG's previous single did

Apparently, it is the next single.

Martin was interviewed by http://www.idolator.com/7652435/martin-garrix-interview-2017-album early December and he mentioned the following about the follow-up single.
QUOTE
"We can't give away the name or anything, but we can talk about it. It feels like a follow-up. I've been in the studio so much. We have so many different options that we are considering. We had an A&R meeting with my label and I have seven new songs as potential follow-ups. Then it ended up being a complete new idea which is going to be the one. It feels like a follow-up because it gives me the same euphoric feeling, but this one has even deeper lyrics and it’s got more emotion, which I really think is important in a song."
However, he said that it didn't have a featured vocalist yet, but it has a crossover pop potential and it sounds like "In the Name of Love".

If it's considered that Martin and Dua were in London some days later for the Capital Jingle Bell Ball, I guess both of them hooked up and she recorded the vocals. I can't think other moment where it happened to be honest.

Posted by: Dobbo 4th January 2017, 02:25 PM

This promises quite a bit from the names involved but I can't help but think I'll be disappointed by it.

Posted by: SePetember Song 4th January 2017, 02:38 PM

Hopefully this will be a smash! Obviously nothing like his old songs, but I reckon it'll still be worth a listen!

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🕊 15th January 2017, 08:58 PM

Martin and Dua are shooting the music video in Scotland.

Posted by: Cody Slayberry 15th January 2017, 09:27 PM

THE HYPE IS REAL

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🕊 18th January 2017, 11:07 PM

The track will be released next week according to a radio interview he did to http://qmusic.nl/nieuws/martin-garrix-komt-27-januari-met-nieuwe-single early today.

Posted by: mdh 18th January 2017, 11:12 PM

New Zara, Martin and Major Lazer in the same week? Whattttttt.

Good! The charts are currently boring me majorly. Totally ready for this!

Posted by: Danuary 19th January 2017, 06:26 PM

Is it really the best idea on Dua's part to be involved in three chart hits at the same time though? She'll get too overexposed and no one will care when the album finally gets released in June.

Posted by: Juliano 19th January 2017, 07:08 PM

I have been listening to the LQ version of this all day, sounds incredible and Dua's vocals slay me. I can relate so much to the lyrics too.

Posted by: mdh 20th January 2017, 11:10 PM

that DROP SOUNDS SO GOOD

Posted by: Inna Selez 23rd January 2017, 05:51 PM

Martin tweeted less than half hour ago it will be released this Friday.

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🕊 25th January 2017, 07:40 PM

Martin uploaded a teaser of the music video on Twitter, which you could watch it https://twitter.com/MartinGarrix/status/824312278178639872.

Posted by: Liаm 25th January 2017, 08:21 PM

Sounds brilliant wub.gif

Posted by: Juliano 25th January 2017, 09:45 PM

Super hyped for this!

Posted by: mdh 25th January 2017, 10:36 PM

This sounds amazing! Love how he's obviously taken inspiration from The Chainsmokers in the chorus/drop build up - should be a big top 10 hit unless something goes seriously wrong.

(I'm hoping it can reach top 10 in its first week in the charts - but I'm doubtful about that considering Zara Larsson, Dua and Major Lazer will all assumably jump into the top 10)

Posted by: cqmerqn 26th January 2017, 02:43 PM

I think I actually love this. No where near as good as In The Name Of Love though biggrin.gif

Posted by: mdh 26th January 2017, 04:49 PM

THIS IS AMAZING. High quality version sounds so bloody good heart.gif

Posted by: Davidson 26th January 2017, 07:22 PM

This sounds like a massive hit actually.

Dua really might have 3 songs in the top 10 (at least of iTunes).

I really love her vocals on here and the verses are lovely. I wish the breakdown wasn't so generic Chainsmokers-eque but that's just because I'm bored of that sound (actually I never liked it in the first place). But it is good despite that.

Posted by: mdh 26th January 2017, 09:49 PM

Calling this to be the next UK #1.

Video is also amazing. Ughh so in love with this.

Posted by: Josh. 27th January 2017, 08:17 AM

This is really great, not quite as good as In the Name of Love for me yet and I prefer Bebe's vocals too but it does feel like this could be pretty huge here. Dua the new Justin Bieber ? laugh.gif

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 27th January 2017, 10:13 AM

Not bad, I like Dua Lipa's voice until reaching the build-up dubstep sound which is annoying.

Posted by: Dobbo 27th January 2017, 10:33 AM

This is very good & a lot better than I was expecting given the negative spiral Garrix has been on for the last few years. The strings are of course what hit me immediately but the vocals are brill too. A nice pleasant surprise this Friday morn!

Posted by: Sonar 27th January 2017, 10:51 AM

Everything was good until that "trumpet" started.

Posted by: ___∆___ 27th January 2017, 11:33 AM

#23 on iTunes yahoo.gif

Posted by: Liаm 27th January 2017, 02:07 PM

I feel like I shouldn't like this so much because it's so generic from a sound I find quite hit and miss, but Dua's voice really suits it wub.gif I think I prefer In The Name Of Love but this is surely going to be huge?

Posted by: Dobbo 28th January 2017, 11:07 PM

Ok this really is glorious, his best commercial single since Wizard.

Posted by: Red. 29th January 2017, 12:11 AM

This is the best song Martin Garrix has done. Love this so much. Helps Dua Lipa is on it aswell wub.gif

Posted by: Danuary 29th January 2017, 02:50 PM

I am really liking this. Rooting for it to be a massive hit.

Posted by: Red. 29th January 2017, 09:56 PM

This is possibly the most I've liked a song in ages.

Really hope this is massive in the future. wub.gif

It makes me so sad to think the Martin Garrix who once did 'Animals' is now doing stuff like this. sad.gif

Dua Lipa's vocal sounds better than usual though, not like a goat in pain.

Posted by: RobBob 30th January 2017, 05:06 PM

I have a trio of Dua I'm obsessed with this right now, this is such a great follow up to In The Name Of Love which was also really strong.

This. I know DJs and producers like to go with the times and develop their sound but Animals was really groundbreaking and it's a sound I wish he would go back to!

It would completely flop if he put another big room song out now as much I would love that myself so it's understandable why he isn't.

This doesn't sound anything like the typical future bass songs around at the moment to me either, there's so much more to it than say his Bebe Rexha collab which was never anything more than ok.

Posted by: mr_pmt 31st January 2017, 07:38 PM

It kind of exemplifies my belief that The Chainsmokers have officially ruined music.

Posted by: JosephStyles 6th February 2017, 09:41 AM

I'm totally in love with this wub.gif a huge step-up from In the Name of Love which I never truly loved, and I think it's already overtaken Animals as my favourite of his. Dua sounds amazing heart.gif

This is more like some of Marshmello's stuff than The Chainsmokers (especially with the drop) so I actually prefer it to The Chainsmokers' stuff. Having said that, yes I do prefer his original sound.

Animals wasn't really that groundbreaking in terms of sound, a similar sort of sound had made the charts before in 2000 in hard house songs like Pitchin by Hi-Gate. It was great to see that sort of sound return though.

I suppose it is like Tiesto who did Adagio For Strings, Lethal Industry and other trance songs not doing trance any more sadly.

The Dua Lipa sounds much better than the horrible harsh Bebe vocal on In The Name Of Love.

QUOTE

I don't think The Chainsmokers ruined dance music as much as firstly Disclosure with Latch, Duke Dumont and Chris Malinchak with their deep house hits and MK with his joyless Storm Queen remix who seemed to take all the energy out of dance music and turned it too serious long before the Chainsmokers came along. At least big room house was very lively and didn't take itself too serious to counteract the dull serious deep house and we have Garrix to thank for that.

Yep big room house is irrelevant when it comes to chart dance sadly now, not nearly as much as the likes of dubstep though so a big room house song could still become a hit but it would either have to be more chilled and poppy or maybe turned into a eurodance Galantis style song.
