Jarvis Cocker - soundtracking the lockdown with “House Music All Night Long” at #88 and teaming up with Hot Chip for “Straight To The Morning” at #59. Working Men's Club - still stuck in the valley, but reaching the summit with the #1 song of the year “Valleys”. 20 year-old Arlo Parks makes an impressive debut with 3 songs in the T100, highest being “Black Dog” at No37.

The Weeknd also a great commercial force - I don't think I've seen 'After Hours' as his highest song in another EOY yet, it's definitely my favourite from the era, so I massively rate that being the case here too. I really like your taste in electronic music too - 'Heartbreak' is also a massive standout for me with that effortless 90s rave channeling <3 Amazing stuff .

Really sorry for the late response- I've only just checked back at this thread while sorting through my stats stuff this evening. . at you enjoying pretty much the entire Top 10 and most of the rest of the chart. That taste crossover! I agree with you that “Heartbreak” (90s-esque breakbeat BANGAH) was a massive highlight from 2020, I saw it on a local record shops release list (Bonobo and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs) and my interest was immediately piqued. Then I listened to it and I think 27 is the highest entry on my chart this year, it's impact was immediate on me. I was into Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs in the early part of the 2010s, I remember “Garden” and a few other hits, but Bonobo has been a firm favourite for a number of years - “Kerala” was his only #1 though before this in 2017. The video has the wonderful Gemma Arterton in it! Not sure what happened with the Weeknd, I think it's because my spreadsheet discounts the weeks in 2019 so it probably suffered from straddling the years - anyway, all singles went Top 10 for him this year. Very much enjoyed that album. Oh yeah “Physical” was another lockdown anthem, I think it narrowly missed out on #1 from Shygirl “BB” but pure pop number 1s are quite rare on my chart. I think only examples in recent years are Carly Rae Jepsen's “Run Away With Me” (2015), Lorde's “Green Light” (2017) and Charli XCX & Christine and the Queens' “Gone” (2019) but I guess even the last two of those would be debatable and more indie/electronic influenced. I've been writing / recording a chart since I was 13 and it was definitely more pop orientated in the early days and then kinda dropped out a bit in my late teens/early 20s. Are there any you've not heard, cos if there are I'd recommend giving them a shot - bound to be some you may like there as our tastes are quite aligned. From the dance orientated ones I'd maybe say: Joe Goddard & Hayden Thorpe “Unknown Song” India Jordan “For You” Mura Masa ft. Ellie Rowsell “Teenage Headache Dreams” - Ellie is the lead singer of Wolf Alice. Duck Sauce “Mesmerize” Although if you have already heard these then feel free to ignore this... I have listened to a lot of the KennyHoopla song and Shades of You this year, easily the two best discoveries I made A weird place to cut off but of the top 17 there's only Hey Jo I didn't at least like enough to add to my regular listening new songs/discoveries playlist After that is a sequence of a few I didn't like much at all, odd that they all appear in a row! I am glad you continue to post your chart and I do give songs from it that I don't know a listen from time to time, Sister and Take Back The Radio are two in here that immediately spring to mind as definitely discovering from your chart.
