Splendid new chart stat from the @officialcharts data today...

Robbie's Xmas album sold more than 10,000 copies on CASSETTE in the past week.

The last album to do that was NOW 52, in 2002.

Unbelievable sales for the format! That must account for a massive % of all sales so far this year on cassette. At a guess 20% to 25%? I can't remember what the exact figure was for cassette sales so far this year but I'm sure it was heading towards 100,000 or possibly even more.

It actually sold 9,661 cassettes - so not quite the 10,000 mark.

Is anyone else finding BuzzJack slow at loading at the moment? I'm assuming it's a server problem but I couldn't get on the site at all about half an hour ago.

Edit: now working OK - it was possibly down to the amount of people trying to access the site at the same time...

Biography

Streatham, South London-born grime artist Dave (aka Santan Dave) may only have been 16 when he entered the grime spotlight, but his conscious lyrical style made him sound well beyond his years. Growing up, Dave was inspired to pursue art in some form. Taking cues from his older brothers, he initially tried his hand at animation before moving on to piano before finally settling on becoming a fully-fledged grime MC; unfortunately, his brothers would end up serving lengthy prison sentences. To cope with the drastic alteration to their lives, Dave burrowed even deeper into his music, causing him to develop a socially aware form of wordplay that set him apart from his peers. Despite starting to write bars around the age of ten, it was six years later that Dave would make his first appearance, freestyling on an underground grime channel, Bl@ckbox, in 2015. In January of the following year Dave returned with his first music video/single "JKYL+HYD," cementing his reputation for deep subject matter and ambitious lyrics. In the following months, Dave delivered two key freestyles on BBC Radio 1. The first was on Semtex's 1Xtra show and the second on Charlie Sloth's Fire in the Booth. A number of singles followed, including a standout collaboration with West London's own rising star, AJ Tracey, on "Thiago Silva." By September Dave was ready to drop his first EP, Six Paths. The release was a success in its own right, but gained even more attention when Canadian rapper Drake remixed the single "Wanna Know," bringing Dave's sound to an American audience. - iTunes

Biography

Bastille (stylised as BΔSTILLE) are a British indie pop band formed in 2010. The group began as a solo project by lead vocalist Dan Smith, but later expanded to include keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist and guitarist Will Farquarson, and drummer Chris Wood. The name of the band derives from Bastille Day, which is celebrated on 14 July, the date of Smith's birthday.

After an independently released debut single and a self-released EP, the band signed to Virgin Records. Their first studio album, Bad Blood, was released in March 2013 and entered the UK Albums Chart at number one. The band was nominated for four Brit Awards at the 2014 ceremony, winning the British Breakthrough Act. As of November 2014, Bastille have sold over five million records in the US and 2.5 million records in the UK.

Biography

Multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Tom Walker blends hip-hop-inspired beats, eclectic samples, and traditional songwriting in his music. Born in Scotland and raised in Manchester, England, Walker grew up listening to Ray Charles, the Police, and Bob Marley from his father's record collection, and taught himself how to play drums, guitar, piano, and bass. After studying songwriting at London's College of Contemporary Music, Walker began making music in earnest, collaborating with his housemates -- who included members of Whilk & Misky -- in their home studio. One of his songs, 2016's "Sun Goes Down," interpolated the '30s work song "I'll Be So Glad When the Sun Goes Down" and featured poet/musician Kojey Radical. The track earned acclaim and airplay on Radio 1, and Walker signed to Relentless soon after. His official debut single, "Fly Away with Me," arrived later that year. The Blessings EP was released in April 2017, along with a pair of singles, "Heartland" and "Leave a Light On." Walker started working with producer Mike Spencer on his debut album soon after, putting together 12 tracks of impeccably produced soulful, contemporary pop. Preceded by the singles "My Way" and "Angels," the album What a Time to Be Alive -- which took its title from the track "Blessings" -- was issued in late 2018. - iTunes

Austin Richard Post (born July 4, 1995), known professionally as Post Malone, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter and record producer. He has gained acclaim for blending musical genres including pop, trap and rock, his introspective songwriting, and his laconic vocal style. Born in Syracuse, New York and raised in Grapevine, Texas, Post first attained recognition in 2015 following the release of his debut single "White Iverson" which peaked in the top 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
