I really didn't think I Will Always Love You would finish at #5, I predicted #1 (I think I Have Nothing will take it, but I still thought IWALY had a chance) or #2.

Wow very surprised that IWLLY isn’t #1!! At least it’s Top 5, and the 4 songs above it are 10/10s too

So Emotional top 4 is a bit of a shock, obviously at this point they're all iconic but I'd have that low top 10 personally maybe just outside. Ofc though once we got to the top 10-15 or so, the averages speak for themselves and how tough this was and how little there is separating them.
IWALY is such a classic, much better than the Dolly original and it's one of the few times someone has redefined a song that much with a cover. |

Livin' in a world of fantasies 04. So Emotional | 9.00 Next out, it's the 3rd single from 'Whitney' and her sixth consecutive #1 in the US. The music video shows Whitney adorned by her fans on stage as she sings of her passionate affection towards her lover. Glittery beats throughout, the song continually explodes in that euphoric chorus and it's become (like many of her other singles) a gay club staple. Most recently, the song was used in a huge RuPaul's Drag Race lip-sync that shot the song into a new generation's affections. Overall, a brilliantly beautiful and brazen song with just the right amount of emotional Whit with party queen. |

Can't run from myself, there's nowhere to hide 03. I Have Nothing | 9.23 In the first medal position it's the third single from The Bodyguard soundtrack. A song glittered with award nominations and chart success, it continued to prove the might and power of the artist. Covered many times, but never quite in the way Whitney managed to, the song is another humongous ballad, dealing with themes of self-identity and worth in a relationship. Beautifully delivered, it's a worthy top 3 song and doesn't seem to have aged at all despite it appearing here, there and everywhere. Which leaves now a top 2 of How Will I Know and I Wanna Dance With Somebody - which are you rooting for? |

I fall in love whenever we meet 02. How Will I Know | 9.43 Buzzjack loves Whitney a little more carefree it seems as both of the top 2 are dance-floor beauties. First up, in second place, is the debut album's third single 'How Will I Know'. A song originally intended for Janet Jackson, but later adapted by Whitney, it tells of someone wondering if her love interest feels for her back - very relatable and delivered in such a joyous and euphoric way. It trusts the sense of unknowing as something exciting, spontaneous and glorious. The video too explores this exciting mystery. One of many #1 singles from Whitney, but not your #1... |

When the night falls, loneliness calls 01. I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) | 9.52 Your #1 Whitney song is the gigantic rousing stomper 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)'. The song, released as the lead single from her second album, was written by the same team behind your #2 song. Winning a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and hitting #1 across the world, the song went on to be her biggest selling single of the time (overtaken a few years later obviously) and cemented itself as a timeless song. The song is about the carefree, joyous and spirited nature of music and dance and how cathartic and empowering it can be. Whitney's vocals are decisive towards the end but pensive as it begins - it shows how music can increase confidence and set you free. A very worthy song to be named as Whitney's #1, it's the one we tend to hear most often in clubs and the real world and it's a certain gem among the career of a woman who had a multitude of smashes. Thank you to all that took part. Let's dance our blues away with this true musical legend~ |
