I find her glamorous, especially when you compare her to tarts like Lily Allen. It's like she's sophisticated yet tongue-in-cheek, and it showed in her classy-yet-cheesy music.

I loved both albums, the second was less commercial so I can kinda see why it didn't fare aswell.

My favourite Sophie song is 'Take Me Home', which is probably in my top 5 songs ever. wub.gif

What on earth do you mean 'a product'?!

She writes all her own material, and worked hard to get where she is all by herself.

........ so she manages herself, markets herself, produces herself, plays and directs the music by herself..

she is/was c**p.

Well obviously not, but she's still far from a 'product'.

She was the lead singer of an indie band in the 90's, and she worked damn hard to get her own success after that.

ill give you that much, she has put more into herself then many other pop products, but she is a product, and one that i personally cant abide... there are many far better female artistes who really do deserve better recognition... but hey, they havnt sold out, towing the 'pop' line in order to make money at the expense of their true vocation musically.... i wonder if mss bextors indie band had taken off, wether she would ever have considered cheesy pop.... i bet not! lol.

Actually Sophie writes the melodies as well as lyrics for her songs.

And the only songs I'd say are even remotely cheesy are Murder On The Dancefloor and Take Me Home.

Her other material is pop but it's got indie and dance influences in it. Expecially in her 2nd album. Pop music shouldn't be for people who just wanna see silly dances and crappy lyrics, where Sophie comes in & rightly so.

She doesn't market herself as a $l*t & does havea lot of input into who she is including the material she writes.

Murder On The Dance Floor was her best release in my opinion. That video (I think you posted it, I'll watch it at a more reasonable hour as it is nearly quarter past 4 in the morning here in the UK) was so funny. laugh.gif

I don't think 'Take Me Home' is cheesy.

Maybe I would say 'Music Gets The Best Of Me' is, but again that's similar to 'Murder On The Dancefloor'.

Anyone who says she's cheesy clearly doesn't know the first thing about her, as if they heard her albums they would see how diverse and talented she is. And they're probably basing their opinion on 'Murder On The Dancefloor'.
