All this tells me is a lot of those late 2010 certifications for Little Mix need downgrading because of the rudiculous stream to sale ratio at the time. Most aren't worthy of half the 'sales' they have.

“Stay” by Shakespears Sister would be Platinum now had it been released two years later. So annoying that songs have to virtually start from zero that were released pre-1994.

Would love the OCC or Music Week to give some sales updates for All Saints. I'm hopeful "Rock Steady" will be certified silver and "Black Coffee" gold in coming years

Hi there,
Just to let you know the BPI have now uploaded a silver certification for Booty Luv - Boogie 2nite. I emailed them about it and they have updated the database online. |

Most aren't worthy of half the 'sales' they have. But your fave Ed Sheeran ‘sales’ would be a lot lower as well (although you probably think his ‘sales’ are all worthy and should be doubled!). |

I'll aim to update this thread very soon!
In June 2019, Official Charts posted a Top 100 list of girl group singles with the sales from 1994 to 2019. Using that list, I decided to put all of the most recent certifications next to each entry, because I wanted to see the changes that have occurred since the list was posted. One notable thing right at the top of the list is that Work from Home, Black Magic and No Scrubs have overtaken Never Ever. [3xPlat / 11.2019] 01 WANNABE SPICE GIRLS 1 1996 [3xPlat / 11.2020] 02 SHOUT OUT TO MY EX LITTLE MIX 1 2016 [2xPlat / 01.1998] 03 NEVER EVER ALL SAINTS 1 1997 [3xPlat / 04.2022] 04 WORK FROM HOME FALLING HAIM 30 2013 [Silver / 07.2013] 100 I HATE THIS PART PUSSYCAT DOLLS 12 2008 The race is on for the first girl group single to certify 4xPlatinum, and it does seem likely that it'll be Spice Girls - Wannabe. I estimate that it's currently on 2,310,000 and that 2.4m+ could happen in August of this year. However TLC - No Scrubs is continually closing the sales gap between them. I estimate that it should have exceeded 2,200,000 by now, and that it should be on track to also certify 4xPlatinum this year... maybe no later than November. It seems inevitable that No Scrubs will overtake Wannabe's total at some point, given that it does better on streaming (No Scrubs placed 21st in the "Top 300 Most Streamed Songs of the 70s, 80s and 90s" chart from October 2022 whereas Wannabe was 70th). That will feel a bit bizarre after Wannabe being on top for such a long time. Although that honour did go to Never Ever for a while! At the end of the 90s, the sales of these three singles were... Never Ever: 1,255,000 / Wannabe: 1,180,000 / No Scrubs: 555,000. Speaking of TLC, I'm surprised that Unpretty still isn't Gold. The Supremes - You Can't Hurry Love certified Silver in March 2018, Gold in March 2020 and Platinum in November 2021. Similarly fast updates for The Ronettes - Be My Baby: Silver in May 2018, Gold in July 2020 and Platinum in July 2022. Also Sleigh Ride went Platinum in December 2021. Little Mix releases post June 2019: [1xPlat / 04.2021] Sweet Melody [1xPlat / 10.2021] Heartbreak Anthem [1xPlat / 01.2022] Break Up Song [Gold / 07.2021] Holiday [Gold / 07.2021] Think About Us [Gold / 10.2021] Confetti [Gold / 02.2022] Kiss My (Uh Oh) [Silver / 10.2019] Bounce Back [Silver / 04.2021] No Time for Tears |

Interesting to see Girls Aloud have the second most platinum album certs of all girl bands, I thought Little Mix would have outdone them.

That 3x Platinum for B*Witched would just be from their debut wouldn’t it? Even though it says 2 albums.

I am gobsmacked it isn't... it is the longest reigning #1 by a girl group and its not even on 400k wtf? Don’t forget it was released pre-1994 so we have to wait until it reaches 600k in the digital age for it to be certified Platinum as it was originally certified Gold. |

Tiny nitpick - M.O have two platinum singles! (Bad Vibe and Who Do You Think Of?) Mad that they have as many as Girls Aloud, obviously different eras but without context it looks crazy.

Don’t forget it was released pre-1994 so we have to wait until it reaches 600k in the digital age for it to be certified Platinum as it was originally certified Gold. Even then, there are plenty of singles pre 1994 that has far less weeks at #1 yet outsold it. It's all relative of course to the different eras in general but it is still seems quite shocking a song that spent 8 weeks at #1 has only sold 400k. |
