But as a backbencher he was never explicitly asked to condemn the violence. He was condemned for meeting members of SF in the 1980s. Reality was the government were doing this secretly 😂.

It's that idiotic (mainly English right wing) view that the IRA were bad but the British forces were defeating terrorists that annoys me. So simplictic with no understanding of the Irish conflict whatsoever.

Confirmed by the BBC that IDS is going to get a knighthood. in the NY Honours list. What for? A failed party leader, only one to never fight an election as far as I know. Presided over Universal Credit which has been a disaster.
