Welcome to the starting line of BJSC 104. The rules of engagement are even simpler here than the confirmation process, so much so that I don't even need to write them myself. So here are the rules that Jerick wrote last month:

1. You must vote using the Eurovision-system (12,10, 8-1).
2. You cannot vote for yourself or the autoqualifier.
3. You can only vote in your own semi-final, only the hosts will vote in both.
4. Non-voters will be subject to a 33% deduction from their nation's entry.
5. Late votes will be accepted at the discretion of the host, late voting nations will be subject to a 15% deduction.
6. Votes must be sent by PM to the host, LexC by 23:59 BST on Saturday 21st April

Well this seems like a fairly tragic draw for my chances of qualifying but to be fair I said the same thing last month and ended up being ok so let me try not to sweat it. (Really though you couldn't have afforded me even ONE of Chez, Rollo, Jade, Harve, Mattias, Iz or Jacob? (in roughly decreasing order of how likely they are to give high points to this particular entry))

Honestly though if I am to get another DNQ this is probably a contest where it will relatively not bother me as much, I really need to be focusing on coursework this week so shall probably be a little less invested in the contest than usual (at least until the final), I might even have to give any semi-final plug sessions a miss this time around eep. That said, I really really love my entry again so y'all better not let it DNQ. xx

I actually know quite a few of these songs already this month, there are three that I know from the PopJustice Song Contest alone - I remember St. Burbia's being very good for the type of song it is, Tartford's is pretty good too and Oslol's... I really wasn't a fan of at all but I'm interested to see how it translates over here considering it was a landslide winner on PopJustice. Otherwise... I do indeed already know Medhelnia's entry and I APPROVE GREATLY, hope this can be another hit for Kevin (I was a little wrong in my prediction as I thought it would be another BROCKHAMPTON song but hey close enough). And I know Jadakissnia already because it's another song she played as a random song choice on plug a while back before deciding it would be a BJSC potential, shockingly enough I am a fan once again xx

Exactly as Mattias said Kiasmos is an act I've always meant to check out but not got around to yet (it's an Ólafur Arnalds side project isn't it?) so looking forward to hearing that one. And Espen have recycled my artist from the second Pop Forum Song Contest interesting ~

Some slower tempo songs on either side of my QUEER ANTHEM. Not sure how that'll affect me in the semi, but I'm hoping for the best~ Just looking through both semis this month, I know A LOT of these songs, so I'm excited to see how they do.

There's a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krtOiwikLBw of Mosquetania's song on YouTube which I guess will have to suffice for a plug session unless Jafet / someone else uploads the song to YT/SC, since the studio version doesn't seem to be available on either of those platforms as far as I can tell ~

Seems like most of the longer songs (and there are quite a handful of them this time around) ended up in semi 1. That semi is ~2hr9min long, while semi 2 is only about ~1hr50min. In fact my song is the only one in semi 2 that's over 5 minutes, compared to there being 8 such songs in semi 1. x

He also is the son of Alvin Stardust who had a UK #1 in the 70s. ;o

I'm too lazy to start listening through properly (only heard the second half on plug) to any of the three contests I've got going on, gah help. I've never missed a deadline for these things ever, and don't plan on it happening now but gah. At least there's still a few more days, gonna have to squeeze it in somewhere.

Don't worry I completely get that too. I feel in order to give all songs a fair assessment I have to dedicate an entire timeblock to listen to the whole roster and with 3 simultaneous contests it's a bit of an effort. I'm lucky in that I already familiarised myself with Club Bizarre as a co-vetter but 90s/00s might have to take the bullet this month.

At least the deadlines aren't all on the same day! There's a full 2 days after this deadline for 90s vs. 00s and then nearly an entire extra week after that for Club Bizarre. -am probably going to vote on the final day in all three-

I've voted now for Semi 1, to give me some time to do the other five hundred contests running atm, the second half of the semi was infinitely better than the first (what do you mean that was where most of the longer songs were?), but there was some marvellous stuff here, I rlly love my whole top 5, and my top 2 are particularly stunning, I will be most unhappy if they DNQ (which one of them seems to be according to the (only) predictions thus far )

I feel the same as Liam tbh. Although, I feel overall that this is one of the strongest and most cohesive semi finals in a while. In the sense that I can see any of these in a final, even if some were just used as "filler". Nothing I rated below a 6, but a lot of 7's and 6's overall.

I had a concerted search for it earlier in the week. It's a song that was done for a German language film so it was tacked onto the band's album on only one edition, and that one isn't on Spotify. Sadly.

I've been settling for just watching the music video over and over, because those visuals... perfect rock band epicness, particularly 1.30-1.45

Not a vintage Semi by any means but some very strong dance tracks in the second Semi & kinda makes me wish I'd sent something of the genre as it would have been a very good draw. Although alongside Club Bizarre & the 90s vs 00s I wanted to send something completely different to this event this month.

Also, the Vanessa Mai track listed on the Spotify playlist sounds completely different to the one in the OP despite no remix being mentioned, found that a bit strange.

So at close of play it's only Oslol that have failed to vote.

I voted with literally about 3 seconds to spare #timely

This semi is largely quite tragic oops (tfw I DNQ from it anyway). Had to vote for 2 songs that were just 'quite good' which usually never happens. Throwing out some big hype to Cowtermont anyway (very Porter Robinson esque *.* loving this run of entries from you since 102) and also praying that this is the one for Aesthetica to qualify again + Mosquetania to get their first qualifier!

The other semi was a lot better, I'm gonna NEED Aelandor through pls (Janus Rasmussen can do no wrong) aside from that Aeroche, Bøtanikkä and Terra Avium were the main great discoveries!

I'll also hype New Lexico's AQ in the hopes it makes Lex rig it for me to qualify

just had it pointed out that I put in the wrong version of 'Regenbogen' in the Spotify playlist, it should be the 'Piano Version' and not the original. Replaced it now though I suppose it's a bit late if you only used the Spotify playlists (though I imagine the original would actually do better so maybe the error will work in Mack's favour lol)
