Totally agreed on Glassheart and Outta My Head being singles. I think they had that pop/top 40 crossover appeal and showed her as more than just a ballad singer. I think Glassheart and Echo would’ve had more long term success if they had released those.
I actually really liked Happy at the time but looking back it wasn’t the huge comeback hit they needed, it certainly didn’t have the instant appeal of Bleeding Love. Other mistakes: - passing on Burn and We Found Love, I suppose they did end up with the right artists but I think they’d at least be small hits in Leona’s hands. - delaying Glassheart from autumn 2011 to spring 2012 and then again to autumn 2012 was far too long of a wait and people just lost interest. - not getting her a supporting act placing with a bigger touring act in the US, I know she was lined up to support Christina Aguilera in 2010/11 in the US but after that fell through they should’ve found another opportunity - not pushing Run in the US in 2008/09, it was an fairly organic smash in the UK and Europe. There was so much buzz for it at the time and I think it would’ve done better in the US with more promo instead of I Will Be - not doing more with I See You, it was the theme song for the biggest grossing film of all time for Christ sake - allowing Better in Time to miss out of number 1 in the UK due to the mess up with the double A side |

100% THIS!!! Happy and Simon destroyed her career with constant ballads. They should have released Outta Ma Head first. This annoys me because Happy although it didn’t do BL 2.0, it is still one of my favourite Leona songs, vocals and video. I was at the Labrinth tour when she hit those high notes in Happy and it made me gasp every time. It was very much a solid song to lead a campaign. As agreed with radio folk etc music changed. Gaga became massive and alternative sounds were the craze. Black Eyed Peas were killing it. Kesha was brewing. If not Happy,I genuinely feel like none of Echo could have led that album campaign and a different result would happen. Yes OMH was good back in 2009 but it was not comparable to Gaga and the other hit sounds of that time. If OMH was released…it would surely alienate casual fans as literally nothing else on the album sounds like it. So would they be giving a false impression.? A new up tempo Leona……with one song that is uptempo. Lol When are Leona fans going to understand that it isn’t ONLY Simon and Nicola that have messed up at times. Leona imo was lazy in her prime. especially if you look at other up and coming artists with hits in the charts. No tours. Little promotion. Little interviews. No collaborations. No festivals(!!!!!!). I am still annoyed all these years later at how we as fans have been left aside and only ever acknowledged if and when someone feels like it…nope. |

I agree we can’t put it all on Simon/Nicola, although only those in her inner circle will know how much is Leona saying no or not pushing for those things. Only Syco act I can think of that toured outside the uk is one direction, so do feel the lack of touring is more of a management/label thing though, which had a knock on effect for festival organisers making offers. I also feel the Leona career errors started well before Happy. Happy’s release strategy was more the issue imo than the song choice for album lead. 2 months between being sent to radio and actual release meant many people either got bored of it by release or illegally downloaded it by then (or just waited the extra week for Echo). Think Leona would do well jumping on the rent a singer bandwagon that has worked wonders for Becky Hill and Ella Henderson - I just don’t feel Leona is that bothered at this point. Hopefully she proves me wrong this year. |

I don't really think that made much difference, I could tell in the lead-up to 'Happy's release that the buzz and excitement around it was minimal. It was obvious they tried to recreate 'Bleeding Love' but it was formulaic for her by that point and it probably only got to #2 because it was her lead single.
Then annoyingly they just let the era die by playing it safe with yet another ballad when OMH was right there. |

Yeah they really should have gone for Outta My Head as a single. I still think a ballad was a good idea as the lead as it is what she was known for but it needed to be more impactful than Happy.

Happy just... wasn't very good. They went back to Tedder in hopes of him making Bleeding Love 2.0 and the well was dry by then. I'm not sure anything else from the album would have smashed but there were far better options for singles like Can't Breathe, Broken, Alive or My Hands.

Great news about I Got You! Didn’t have to wait long after all.
That’s 10 certified singles now. Probably be a while before we see an 11th, though I hope we do get some surprise certifications as the year goes on. |

Run features in the new Argylle movie, be interesting to see if there is any movement with that over the next few weeks.

How prominently does it feature? Would probably need to be significant to a particular scene or something. I think it is pretty prominent, I have seen a couple of tweets I have put the translated second & third tweets in a spoiler. https://twitter.com/RamasScreen/status/1752549177488449972 https://twitter.com/GoldwinReviews/status/1...549572512231793 Quick commercial break first from Filipino movies. Was able to watch ARGYLLE last night. Nice. The circuit of the mind. Lots of fun plottwists. Favorite scene is when BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD and SAM ROCKWELL dance while shooting. Then you will hear Leona Lewis's voice along with the gunshots. THAT'S THE BEST #ArgylleMoviePH https://twitter.com/newsplatter/status/1752523744667726222 Leona Lewis's song 'Run' will become popular again, I think, thanks to the film Argylle. I'm not sure it works for the scene, but I was definitely grinning when I heard the opening chords The film is a gigantic BOMB (and it's pretty awful) though, so unfortunately, it won't benefit all that much </3 |

Loved hearing Run, but felt it didn’t really fit the scene that well either. |
