This usually ends up occupying space in one of the other threads plus we're getting to the time of year where everyone's getting all end of year and reviewy, so I thought we might as well have a separate topic. In chronological order...
Indila - Derniere Danse S O H N - Artifice RuPaul - Sissy That Walk RAM & Susana - RAMelia (Tribute To Amelia) Hervé x Zebra Katz - Tear The House Up A.G. Cook - Beautiful Jay Dabhi and Moises Modesto - Cry For Freedom Michael Woods feat, Lauren Dyson - In Your Arms Blonde - I Loved You Josef Salvat - Open Season Commence the ranking. 1 Cry For Freedom
^ yes I know but it's one of my favourite songs of ever so let me 2 Artifice 3 Tear The House Up 4 Beautiful 5 Dernière Danse 6 RAMelia (Tribute To Amelia) ^ all excellent 7 Open Season 8 I Loved You ^ both good 9 Sissy That Walk ^ enjoyable enough but let's face it if it didn't have the gimmick of being RuPaul this would not be a winning song 10 In Your Arms ^ generic mess All in all a pretty good year but the winner quality took a steep downturn after my win. I voted for 5 of the first 6 winners as well as the song that came 2nd behind myself, but didn't vote for any of the 3 since. |

Myself:
01 Derniere Danse 02 Sissy That Walk 03 RAMelia 04 Open Season 05 I Loved You 06 In Your Arms 07 Beautiful 08 Cry For Freedom 09 Artifice 10 Tear The House Up None that I actively dislike which is pretty good. The top 5 are all classic winners and 6 to 8 are alright but not essential, 'Artifice' I still find really bleh and nothingy and, well, I don't *hate* 'Tear The House Up' (sorry Chris x) |

Wonderful/amongst my favourite discoveries of the year
01. Jay Dabhi and Moises Modesto - Cry For Freedom 02. S O H N - Artifice Good 03. Hervé x Zebra Katz - Tear The House Up 04. Blonde - I Loved You 05. Josef Salvat - Open Season Decent, but a bit overrated/not something I'd really go back to 06. Indila - Derniere Danse 07. RAM & Susana - RAMelia (Tribute To Amelia) No thanks 08. RuPaul - Sissy That Walk 09. Michael Woods feat, Lauren Dyson - In Your Arms Haven't heard (yay for an artist that technically was featured on a Terra Avium song first winning though (straws meet clutching)) -- A.G. Cook - Beautiful -x- I only voted for the top 2, though one was my 12 pointer which was good. Generally though, the winners never quite make it to the tip top of my affections whilst I oddly always throw my support to the songs that end challenging them the most (three times my 12 pointer came 2nd this year :'() This post has been edited by Chez Wombat: 19th November 2014, 11:53 PM |

The top 4 though are AMAZING and at least I don't hate any of the winners |

01 I Loved You (definitely my favourite this year, i can see everyone loving this now it's having a commercial push too)
02 Open Season (didnt even give this any points in the semi but i love it now, just a fantastic little tune) 03 Beautiful 04 Artifice (wasn't in this final but i remember loving the song for a little while) 05 Cry For Freedom (did a big u-turn on this since the final really quite beautiful) 06 In Your Arms (went off this quickly, i do like it but shocked at it winning) 07 Derniere Danse 08 Sissy That Walk 09 RAMelia (one heard this once and it left no impression on me whatsoever ) 10 Tear The House Up (wasn't really my cup of tea) wasnt in the final for ramelia, sissy, derniere or artifice but heard them all before. |

It's actually crazy that we only had ONE female solo winner this year. ONE. CRAZY I TELLS YA less crazy when you take into account winners with only female vocals (Derniere Danse, In Your Arms, RAMelia, I Loved You, Beautiful(?) (the vocal is so high pitched it could be either gender but it sounds female)) |

Indila - Derniere Danse
Jay Dabhi and Moises Modesto - Cry For Freedom S O H N - Artifice A.G. Cook - Beautiful Hervé x Zebra Katz - Tear The House Up RuPaul - Sissy That Walk Josef Salvat - Open Season Blonde - I Loved You RAM & Susana - RAMelia (Tribute To Amelia) Michael Woods feat, Lauren Dyson - In Your Arms Only the last two I don't really get / like. In response to Bal's ??? about Josef... while I like it, it's easily my least favourite of his songs and I'm rather baffled it won so easily. I'd've sent 'Shoot and Run' and come 25th I'm sure... |

1. Indila - Derniere Danse
2. RAM & Susana - RAMelia (Tribute To Amelia) 3. Jay Dabhi and Moises Modesto - Cry For Freedom 4. A.G. Cook - Beautiful 5. S O H N - Artifice 6. Blonde - I Loved You 7. Josef Salvat - Open Season 8. Hervé x Zebra Katz - Tear The House Up 9. Michael Woods feat, Lauren Dyson - In Your Arms 10. RuPaul - Sissy That Walk The first 3 are magical. They all beat out very good runners-up which all would have improved the winners list no end in a different contest, but the right choice was made for all three of these I think (to keep things in balance, in the contests where I wasn't a fan of the winner, I wasn't amazingly enamoured with any of the nearest challengers either). The next 5 are all very good songs, worthy of being winners and good additions to the canon, I've tired of Tear The House Up just a bit though. In Your Arms is passable but not a particularly standout song in this list, and as for Sissy That Walk, as a song it is dreadful. The first verse I can enjoy, everything after that is pretty bad. |

Anyone who doesn't 'get' RAMelia should watch this:
The song still sends shivers down my spine, in any incarnation. |

I've noticed how much dislike Michael Woods got. I'm actually wondering how it won with so many members actively disliking it.
