BuzzJack Music Forum _ Indie, Rock and Alternative _ Bring Me The Horizon - Post Human: Survival Horror

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 23rd March 2020, 03:31 PM

Bring Me the Horizon have been posting daily updates of them recording new material known as "BMTH8" (so it seems like they're counting Music To as one, though they called that an EP at the time) - and they've said they will be releasing several more EPs. So who knows what this will be laugh.gif I'm hyped though!

There's been 3 updates so far

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 9th May 2020, 01:53 PM

Oli confirmed in a livestream that the next release is 'Parasite Eve' and will be released 'in the next month'. Various previews have been released and it sounds fantastic! Sounds like a great follow-up to 'Ludens'.

hello everyone- so as some of you know we were planning on releasing a new track this week. But with the incredible movement that is taking place currently we don’t feel comfortable releasing & promoting anything that takes the focus off what’s important right now. I KNOW you will all understand because we have the best fans in the world & I promise you we won’t make you wait too long & the good news is more music will be coming soon after P.E too. But for now keep fighting the good fight & stay tuned ✨♥️✨

Lots of interesting news released today!

- Parasite Eve is out tonight at 19:30, video at 20:00
- 4 EPs will be released in the next year, under the name 'Post Human'
- Each EP will be 6-10 tracks long
- "They’ll each be tonally different with their own sound and mood"

Very exciting! I'm ridiculously hyped for Parasite Eve finally releasing tonight

Posted by: lewistgreen 25th June 2020, 06:37 PM

Oh boy Parasite Eve is amazing

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 25th June 2020, 07:19 PM

What a tune! I'm so hyped for this new project

"THIS IS A WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR" is my favourite moment

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 28th June 2020, 06:27 PM

At #21 in today's chart update!

Posted by: Klumzee 28th June 2020, 09:05 PM

I'm hoping this can stay top 40! Bring Me The Horizon aren't my usual thing but Parasite Eve is a real stand out to me!

Posted by: Bjork 28th June 2020, 09:06 PM

could be their 2nd top 40 hit

Posted by: lewistgreen 29th June 2020, 01:21 PM

It’s #25 in today’s mids *.*

Posted by: Bjork 29th June 2020, 01:35 PM

it's been added to HH today, kinda towards the end of the playlist, but might help the song stabilise and do enough streams to remain top 40

Posted by: Bré 29th June 2020, 03:23 PM

Really liking this! Hope it can hang on to give them a second top 40 hit.

I kinda wish the Bulgarian chants at the start were incorporated into the rest of the song as well - is it just me or is that a sample of (or at least a common sample with) Iz's BJSC entry 'Temen Oblak' by Christopher Tin from a few years back thinking.gif

Posted by: Bjork 29th June 2020, 03:37 PM

Isn't that Ergen Deda, it's a very famous folk song
It's a traditional song so not sure who sings it but it was made famous by this choir of women
the Mystery Of The Bulgarian Voices, I think they were called

Posted by: Izzy 29th June 2020, 04:36 PM

Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares *.*

I've had Bring Me The Horizon pass me by for a few years but this sounds suitably weird enough for me to like them again.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 3rd July 2020, 05:11 PM

Enters at #28 today!

Posted by: coi 4th July 2020, 01:20 PM

So glad this has finally given BMTH a second top 40 hit after so many top 100s! I don't love it as much as Drown but it sounded great on the chart show!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 28th August 2020, 10:28 PM

Yungblud has tweeted the same caption, looks like that collab's up next!

Posted by: Bré 29th August 2020, 01:23 AM

Gross

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 29th August 2020, 09:53 PM

"Don't Obey" with Yungblud is out on Sept 3rd!

From previews they've been posting it sounds very electronic rock (almost Pendulum or The Prodigy like?) Quite different to anything they've released before!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 30th August 2020, 08:09 PM

It's coming!

Posted by: lewistgreen 1st September 2020, 01:51 PM

It's coming tomorrow now! I am so hyped for this, Parasite Eve is incredible

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 1st September 2020, 06:27 PM

I'm buzzing! From past previews there appear to be some growls which I am highly anticipating. Hopefully BMTH gain a lot of Yungblud's audience from it also!

Out at 18:00 tomorrow, as the new time for Annie Mac's Hottest Record!

Half an hour to go! Video at 7pm too

Posted by: lewistgreen 2nd September 2020, 05:09 PM

INCREDIBLE

Posted by: Dan17F1 2nd September 2020, 05:13 PM

Wow! That’s amazing - I loved Parasite Eve but that’s even better. So heavy!!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 2nd September 2020, 05:14 PM

Bloody fantastic! Can't wait to have this on repeat

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 2nd September 2020, 06:22 PM

Video is out now + it's #1 trending on twitter!

Posted by: All★bySmashMouth 2nd September 2020, 09:36 PM

Much more enjoyable than Paras(h)ite Eve. A bit sweary but it's kinda amusing.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 2nd September 2020, 09:51 PM

What didn't you like about Parasite Eve? It's not massively different to this really

Posted by: Bré 8th September 2020, 06:33 PM

This song isn't terrible but it's a massive step down from 'Parasite Eve' - not even only because of YUNGBLUD's presence (although that doesn't help matters x), the lyrics just feel a little too on the nose / super edgy and woke!!1 to the point where it's a little cringeworthy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ At least I can appreciate the instrumental ~

Posted by: lewistgreen 11th September 2020, 06:30 PM

Obey in at #37 today *.*

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 12th September 2020, 09:31 AM

Fantastic to see!

Posted by: GhoulOdyssey 14th October 2020, 05:26 PM

Omg the first EP 'Survival Horror' is out on October 30th, and there's a Babymetal collab ohmy.gif

Tracklisting:

Dear Diary,
Parasite Eve
Teardrops
Obey (with Yungblud)
Itch for the Cure (When Will We Be Free?)
Kingslayer (feat. Babymetal)
1X1 (feat. Nova Twins)
Ludens
One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be In Your Chest As You March Towards Your Death (feat. Amy Lee)

Posted by: GhoulOdyssey 21st October 2020, 04:54 PM

'Teardrops' is out tomorrow ahead of the first EP next week! Can't wait for this

Posted by: lewiscapaldi 22nd October 2020, 04:36 PM

So I've now heard Teardrops and Kingslayer. Kingslayer is bonkers EDM infused with a slight D&B sound, it is incredible. Teardrops is quite radio friendly

Posted by: GhoulOdyssey 22nd October 2020, 05:20 PM

What a banger! I've seen Kingslayer floating around, but I'll try and hold off listening as there's only a week to go laugh.gif

Posted by: lewiscapaldi 22nd October 2020, 06:37 PM

And we have a video!

Posted by: lewiscapaldi 23rd October 2020, 02:49 PM

Got The O2 standing tickets for the tour, can't wait cry.gif

Posted by: HiyaWeen 23rd October 2020, 10:50 PM

This is extremely reminiscent of Linkin Park. Which is probs fine by me as I'm a massive fan of 2001 chart music off of when I was a mere 18 years old. Only really got into them during the past couple of years but always look forward to their new material now. This is not quite Parasite Eve but is probably better than Obey which got old very, very quickly. Big fan of Mother Tongue here, hope they do something along those lines next.

Posted by: GhoulOdyssey 23rd October 2020, 11:15 PM

This is the "heavy" EP so I wouldn't expect anything like Mother Tongue on this one.

As much as I like that one, I'm appreciating their heavy music a whole lot more with Obey and Parasite Eve. There's loads of bands making solid pop-rock, but far fewer hitting the spot with hard rock/metal for me like BMTH. (Architects' and While She Sleeps' new singles are worth checking out!)

Posted by: HiyaWeen 23rd October 2020, 11:38 PM

Ah, was unaware of the EP thing. Hope this gives them a third 2020 Top 40 single in any case!

Posted by: GhoulOdyssey 23rd October 2020, 11:40 PM

Yeah 3 more coming over the next year or so! It seems like each one will have a different sound so I'm intrigued as to how it go.

My guess for the others are pop-rock, EDM and deathcore (the old fans will be praising the heavens for that laugh.gif)

Posted by: HiyaWeen 24th October 2020, 12:06 AM

I saw them at the Big Weekend when massive social gatherings were a thing and they were phenomenal. Throne absolutely went off, as I believe young people say. I'd never really been a to a Kerrang! demographic gig before even when I was in my late teens at the height of pop-punk and nu-metal. It was mint! I was a right NME indie guy at the time, but whose hits do I go back to in 2020, Starsailor's or System of a Down's? No prizes for guessing the answer!

Posted by: GhoulOdyssey 29th October 2020, 01:33 PM

I've been hearing that Dear Diary sounds like it's from Suicide Season! I can't wait to hear that tomorrow

Posted by: GhoulOdyssey 30th October 2020, 02:16 PM

Absolutely fantastic EP, I couldn't stop smiling while hearing "Dear Diary" for the first time laugh.gif Of the new tracks, Kingslayer altogether was probably my favourite! And the intro into it hit me like a storm.

I'll definitely have this on repeat for the next month!

Posted by: lewiscapaldi 30th October 2020, 03:22 PM

Love the whole thing, great start to showcasing this era

Posted by: HiyaWeen 30th October 2020, 09:36 PM

Wasn't expecting this to be so long, it's pretty much an album rather than an EP surely? Glad all the recent bangers are present and correct. And yes the chorus of Dear Diary made me laugh out loud. Will be going back to this time and time again!

Posted by: lewistgreen 2nd November 2020, 09:00 PM

The chart update today:

51 (N) Kingslayer
52 (35) Teardrops
53 (N) 1x1

Album sitting at #6 too

SHOOK

Posted by: Bjork 3rd November 2020, 10:37 AM

and they actually could have been #1 on the album charts if they had synchronised the physicals

QUOTE(Bjork @ Nov 3 2020, 10:37 AM) *

Perhaps in yesterday's update, but not with Ariana gaining throughout the week. They'll have more chance when the physicals release in January.

Besides, it's just an EP not an album

Posted by: Bjork 3rd November 2020, 11:13 AM

what does it matter if it's an EP? it's charting in the album charts anyway

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 3rd November 2020, 11:21 AM

I mean that it's unlikely to have the same sales as their studio albums, and won't have as much promo

Posted by: lewistgreen 9th November 2020, 07:18 PM

Am I going crazy or has Kingslayer's intro been separated into its own track? Or has it always been like that as 'Itch for the Cure?

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 9th November 2020, 07:24 PM

Pretty sure it's always been like that at the end of 'Itch for the Cure' tongue.gif

Posted by: coi 15th November 2020, 07:44 PM

Glad this ended up in the top five on the album chart in the end! Teardrops is probably my favourite BMTH song since Avalanche, very happy that it managed to get into the top 40.

Posted by: All★bySmashMouth 4th December 2020, 08:20 PM

Clean version of PH:SH is available to buy/stream... except 'Ludens', which is actually explicit. LOL

Well, now you can stream 'Ludens' with changed lyrics from "messed up" to "f'd up" and "names can dig so many graves" to "names will make me blow the brains..." (rather concerning IMO).

I like the clean lyrics (and its overall production/master) better.

(Digital versions will probably be fixed accordingly in the future)

Posted by: Christmasteve201 13th December 2020, 03:46 PM

Nice win of the hottest record for them this week!!

Posted by: FestiveOdyssey 17th December 2020, 03:47 PM

Their 2016 Live at the Royal Albert Hall album is finally getting a release on streaming tonight! Some absolutely gorgeous versions there, I can't wait! cheer.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 29th January 2021, 06:15 PM

#1 for them today following the physical release! cheer.gif

Posted by: lewistgreen 29th January 2021, 07:10 PM

Yay but also boo for blocking Bicep

Posted by: Bré 29th January 2021, 07:38 PM

Disappointment about Bicep missing out aside I am happy to see this giving them another #1 - appears that I forgot to comment my thoughts on it at the time but I enjoyed this EP more than I expected to considering I sadly wasn't a huge fan of either 'Obey' or 'Teardrops' (in fact 'Teardrops' is probably my least favourite song on the entire thing). I would have loved to see them pushing 'Kingslayer' as a single instead, it's the crossover I didn't know I desperately wanted *.* and '1x1' was a great song as well.

'Parasite Eve' remains the highlight of this by some distance though heart.gif

The remix of Can You Feel My Heart that went viral on TikTok is out at midnight!

(Unfortunately Sempiternal doesn't have it's own thread)

*wait never mind* it was the original CYFMH that went viral, which led to this subsequent remix from Jeris Johnson

Posted by: coi 4th March 2021, 11:47 PM

What a relief that it was indeed the original that went viral, that new remix of it is not even close to being as good really but oh well. Poor Sempiternal not having a thread at the time, such a good album!
