Let's focus on the STARTS to Gaga albums. We're not just talking opening tracks, but possibly the first three or so tracks. Which album, in your opinion, has the strongest start? Which sets the journey for the rest of the album most effectively or which just leaves you wanting to restart the album over and over again? Here are the starts to each album: The Fame: Just Dance > LoveGame > Paparazzi > The Fame Monster: Bad Romance > Alejandro > Monster Born This Way: Marry The Night > Born This Way > Government Hooker ARTPOP: Aura > Venus > G.U.Y. Joanne: Diamond Heart > A-Yo > Joanne Chromatica: Chromatica I > Alice > Stupid Love > Rain On Me Vote in the poll and discuss below |

ARTPOP and Joanne have the weakest for me () - Joanne has one of the best single opening tracks in 'Diamond Heart' but then it dips in quality a fair bit. ARTPOP is an explosive start but not vintage tracks from her.
As for my favourite well... it could be ANY of the other four? I am struggling |

Have to say TFM although BTW, TF and Chromatica are very close.

I was umming and ahhhing between The Fame Monster and Chromatica but decided to go with the former.
That's 3 absolutely KILLER tracks to begin each set though. The Fame and BTW are also very strong, but the other two leave a lot less to be desired. This post has been edited by Tawdry Hepburn: 17th February 2021, 12:58 PM |

Born This Way would be an EASY one for me but 'Government Hooker' is a bit of a dip and I am being super harsh to try and decide which is my favourite because it could be any of them

I like all three songs from Born This Way, whereas I have a small issue with at least one song from all the others.

That 'The Fame Monster' trio is killer *.* 2nd in line is 'Born This Way'.

I'm going to go with Chromatica, followed by The Fame Monster and ARTPOP.
For me, The Fame is let down by "LoveGame", Born This Way by "Government Hooker" (and "Marry The Night" to a lesser extent, the album has many better tracks), and Joanne, I love the title track but I'm not fussed on the other two. |

Easily The Fame: The Monster, with Chromatica an easy #2.
ARTPOP and Joanna joint worst. |

Seriously, my vote goes to Chromatica - it's a perfect example of setting the tone for an album and it helps that all three tracks are really strong too!

I'm voting The Fame: The Monster! The opening few seconds of 'Bad Romance' can't be beaten, then 'Alejandro' switches it up expertly, followed by 'Monster' which fully defines what the era is all about through title, sound and themes!
The Fame comes close because it's hit after hit ('Poker Face' is 4th in the tracklist, so if we extend it out of the top 3, I am sure it would have an even stronger case for it being the best). Born This Way has 2 incredible, masterpiece songs opening it up (and the instrumental that opens up the album as a whole in 'Marry The Night' deserves a huge mention) but it dips a bit by track 3. Chromatica is very close in contention too. The beautiful start with 'Chromatica I' and then that 3-punch banger after banger is legendary. Tough but all things considered, The Fame Monster gets my vote! |
