Paramore's Official Top 10 biggest selling singles revealed
11 May 2017 | By Jack White
To celebrate the release of Paramore's new album After Laughter, Official Charts reveals their most popular songs so far.
Paramore may have gone through several line-up changes over the past decade, but one thing has remained the same, they have consistently delivered powerhouse rock-pop anthems.
New single Hard Times and buzz track Told You So from their new album After Laughter are prime examples and represent an evolution in the band's sound; thoughtful lyrical content with rock edge that's also primed for pop radio.
To celebrate After Laughter's release, Official Charts has delved into the best of their back catalogue and revealed their biggest selling singles.
Decode
Huge vocals from Hayley? Check. A brilliant opening guitar section from Josh (we had to give him a mention)? Check. Featuring on a huge movie soundtrack? Check. Originally a stand-alone release that later featured on the deluxe edition of their third album brand new eyes, Decode's hard drums and blaring guitars were the perfect way to introduce Paramore to the masses.
Although the song fell short of hitting the UK Top 40 (it topped out at Number 52), Decode is Paramore's fourth biggest selling track in the UK with 146,000 sales and their sixth most streamed (4.7 million plays).
The Only Exception
Another song taken from brand new eyes, The Only Exception is in fact the only exception on the list - it's the only ballad to be featured. Believed to be about Hayley's husband, New Found Glory's lead guitarist Chad Gilbert, The Only Exception reached Number 31 to become Paramore's third UK Top 40 hit in 2010. The song finishes third in their best-sellers list with 150,000 sales, plus 6 million streams since records began in 2014.
Ain't It Fun
While the above two tracks were nominated for GRAMMY Awards, Ain't It Fun went one better and actually won one. 2015's Best Rock Song, Ain't It Fun was the fourth and final single taken from the group's self-titled, fourth album. Ain't It Fun somehow missed the UK Top 40, but it did become Hayley, Jeremy and Taylor's first Top 10 single in the US.
When it comes to UK sales, the song ranks at Number 10, but interestingly, finishes in third on the streaming front with 10.8 million plays across all services.
Ignorance
One of Paramore's bigger singles, Ignorance is a defiant message of rising above anger rather than allowing it to consume you. In the UK, it became the band's second Top 40 smash and their highest charting single, reaching Number 14 in 2009.
Despite that chart PB, the song is not the biggest selling of Paramore's, nor the most streamed. Ignorance is Taylor, Zac and Hayley's fifth biggest seller (130,000 sales) and sits at Number 4 on their most streamed list with just shy of 7 million plays.
Still Into You
Still Into You is the band's second highest charting single in the UK, peaking at 15, and has achieved the second most downloads and streams of all of their tracks. Since its March 2013 release, the song has been streamed 11.9 million times in the UK and downloaded by 244,000 of you.
Misery Business
Woah, we never meant to brag, but when we've compiled all of our data, Misery Business is Paramore's top selling single in the UK. What a banger, right? A staple on any playlist in a sticky-floored rock club, Misery Business was Paramore's breakout tune and a song that newer fans have seemingly gone back and connected with.
Misery Business has accrued 12.8 million streams since records began in 2014, and notched up 255,000 sales.

Albums
When it comes to Paramore's albums, they have earned two UK Number 1 records across their varying line-ups, with Taylor and Hayley present on both, and Zac on one.
Despite hitting Number 1, both Brand New Eyes and Paramore are not the group's biggest seller - that would be their second studio collection RIOT!. Its total physical and download sales of 419,000 put it over 20,000+ units ahead of brand new eyes in second, while their debut All We Know Is Falling follows in third.
wow, was expecting Still Into You to be no.1
They haven't got a gold single?
Hard Times should be top 10 soon
Their self-titled album has sold 188k copies to date, so All We Know Is Falling has presumably sold over 200k.
Despite low peaks, their single sales are pretty decent. 'That's What You Get' is one of my favourites from them so it's great to see it is comfortably passed the 100k mark. 'Ignorance' isn't yet Silver so its sales are just shy on 200k, so expect that to be revealed in the BPI's latest update of certifications tomorrow.
I'm utterly amazed All We Know Is Falling has outsold their self-titled.
Looking at their singles discography it's a bit annoying they never released 'When It Rains' from RIOT! and 'Turn It Off' from Brand New Eyes, and just released loads of random rubbish singles instead.
'Emergency' is my favourite, but obviously doesn't appear on this list.
Brand New Eyes is their standout album for me.
Own all their albums and love the group and their progression! Really happy to see "Aint It Fun" manage to sneak into the top 10 - was really upset at how it flopped in the UK. It went on to win a grammy though and become their first top 10 US single at least!
Does anyone have the sales for Riot! and All We Know Is Falling, as well as the singles Misery Business and Decode before 2010? Would be greatly appreciated.
Hard Times at #10 on streams already? That's impressive.
Thanks Liam. Much appreciated.
Amazing to see 'Riot!' on over 400k+! I had no idea it'd sold as much as that. It's certainly interesting that their best selling album is one that peaked at #24, considering they have two #1s. The fact their #51 debut has outsold their most recent #1 is pretty astonishing.
I wouldn't have guessed that Misery Business would still be their best seller, I'd have assumed Still Into You... interesting to see that it's lagging a little behind Misery Business on both sales and streams. Won't be all that long until both are gold. To think Misery Business only spent 2 weeks in the Top 40 (from two releases)!
Forget missing the top 40, it might be better to point out that "Aint It Fun" didn't make the top 140!
