What are you most looking forward to watching in this festive season? ohmy.gif

Personally, I'm finding that less and less thought is going into creating new special items for Christmas and it's becoming more about Christmas specials and a look back over the year. Charlie Brooker's Wipe and The Big Fat Anniversary Quiz are always my favourite highlights each year and so I'm not saying that it's bad that we have them but it would be nice to see a lot more imagination in creating new one off dramas and shows over Christmas again.

(everyone remember to watch the Doctor Who special at 6:15 on Christmas Day smile.gif)

I'm excited to see the Christmas special of Miranda heart.gif I'm gutted it's ended but it's better if it ended on a high than on a low.

I would probably need a good look at the magazines but off the top of my head the Miranda specials are the only thing I'm really excited for! And the usual Top Of The Pops specials I guess but the music at the top of the charts this year hasn't exactly been the best... Plus the soaps of course as always! Perhaps something will ACTUALLY HAPPEN in Corrie as they can't let Christmas Day pass by calmly I'm sure.

I agree that there seems to be less thought put into new, one-off programmes and stuff that actually feels special, it's a bit like they're playing it safe almost and putting on mostly existing shows that they know will get viewers?

I shall be at my sister's on Chrimbo Day and she doesn't have a telly so I won't be able to see Doctor Who until the weekend drama.gif

though i'll probably watch emmerdale (the only soap i really watch)

gutted i missed the bbc 1 drama of the roald dahl story (with mr hoppy in it), i can't think of the name of the book now- and that's embarrasing because i even read it!

that's gonna annoy me now all night.. and i know when someone tells me i'm going to kick myself

hmm what else

oh yeah. watching muppet's christmas carol christmas eve (sort of a tradition for me), and channel 4 are showing it

It's a shame that they don't show "Most Annoying People Of The Year" on BBC Three anymore, that was always my favourite programme during the festive period.

The Christmas Strictly and Miranda (stopped being funny after series 2 but hopefully she's put effort into writing these ones seeing as it's the series finale) are the only certainties. Frankly, if you don't watch the soaps or Doctor Who, Christmas Day isn't exactly littered with essential viewing.

The Big Fat Quiz will also serve as the annual 'remember when that happened in February' trip down memory lane around NYE in chez lexc

Is Charlie Brooker's 2014 Wipe returning? This is pretty much my only essential holiday viewing (bar Doctor Who &, for my sins, Miranda)

I'm always surprised by the early rounds thinking 'oh yes, I forgot that happened'. It's especially funny if I'd got really over something at the time but have completely forgotten by now, suggests how important I felt about it!

I'm watching so much and I always highlight everything to watch/record in my tv paper to make sure I don't forget anything laugh.gif

Anyway so far I've watched the apprentice, the apprentice: why I hired them, the apprentice: the final five, the Joan Rivers show on last night, four Christmases and the most shocking tv moments ever (I am a 1/3rd of the way through that)
I also have rewind the Christmas hits, homeland, Jonathan Ross show, devil, wanderlust and salmon fishing in the Yemen on record from the last 2 days

I'll post my plans for this week later today smile.gif

I'm excited for Mapp and Lucia, Esio Trot and Doctor Who mainly. I'm sure there will be lots of other little random things on too when I check through the TV guide.

oh.

thanks... yes that's the one!. and i'm so glad i've not missed it

saw it advertised just before an episode of the apprentice, and it led me in to a false sense of security (even though come to think of it, i think it did say new years day)
