Thermo's hot hits | #131-140 | EOD 2010-2019

Spotify playlist

140 Avicii & Sebastien Drums My Feelings For You 1,276,200
30/08/2010 [EOY #52, 2010 / EOY #59, 2011]
28-29-37-x-15-14-9-7-5-15-3-2-5-10-16-20-16-16-20-41-x-45-49-x-13-38-49-x

What I said:
Didn't say anything here, this was from before I did proper commentary for all my top 100.

Further comment:
The first ever Avicii track to appear on my radar, and making my first ever chart making him one of the very few people to appear in my first and most recent chart (also in this list is Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Drake & Eminem). Avicii would go on to much greater things but this is still a highlight of his early work. Sebastien Drums never made any impact following this one song however.

139 Frenship Capsize (feat. Emily Warren) 1,280,400
26/08/2016 [EOY #44, 2016 / EOY #93, 2017]
29-46-35-38-42-38-17-15-12-10-10-10-12-12-16-13-10-37-x-22-30-28-29-41-43-x

What I said:
This one took a long time to peak, one of the biggest growers in my chart this year though eventually spent four non-consecutive weeks at #10. Maybe it should've peaked higher. It's a brilliant song that leaves you wanting more though. Whilst Frenship's vocals aren't all that brilliant, Emily Warren's voice really fits the song so I'm glad she's very prominent in it. Would've been nice if this had actually gone beyond being a Spotify hit but it wasn't sent to radio.

Further comment:
A big one hit wonder here. I don't really love this song now, but it's great for what it is.

138 Nicki Minaj Starships 1,284,900
20/02/2012 [EOY #07, 2012]
19-4-3-1-4-8-10-5-8-9-16-16-23-42-42-x-40-31-29-32-32-26-19-20-27-30-x

What I said:
Nicki has been in the EOY Top 10 before, in 2010 with the help of will.i.am. This year she returned back better than ever with the RedOne production "Starships". When I have learnt all of the rap just by listening to the song that's when you know I really love it! The chorus is very good too, but this is all just a buildup for the best part of the song - the drop in which RedOne delivers a hard beat in a different pitch to the rest of the song but somehow manages to fit in with the song (the old radio 1 edit that cut it out sounded very weird!)

Further comment:
It's Nicki's biggest song here, it has dated quite a bit however in comparison to other songs in this section but I did love it a lot at the time so its position is deserved in that respect.

137 Secondcity I Wanna Feel (feat. Kelli-Leigh) 1,289,400
31/03/2014 [EOY #10, 2014]
38-43-50-42-3-8-15-15-18-3-6-7-12-25-23-17-25-30-45-x

What I said:
Starting off the top 10 is Secondcity and of course Kelli-Leigh (first of 2 entries for her in the top 10) with UK #1 smash I Wanna Feel, which did better in my chart than in the UK actually. A great house song with piano, and I love the change in the middle.

Further comment:
Secondcity would only have one other minor top 20 hit in my chart with this being his obvious standout.

136 Calvin Harris Pray to God (feat. Haim) (Original/Calvin Harris vs. Mike Pickering Remix) 1,289,500
10/11/2014 [EOY #56, 2015]
7-13-19-31-22-21-10-34-x-45-x-45-34-27-14-17-22-38-26-22-32-x-50-x

What I said:
Calvin Harris entered highly upon the album's release with highlight 'Pray to God' but it was the remix which Calvin also had a hand in producing that kept it riding high in the chart well into the start of the year. I'd say I like the original and remix equally, both are very different for Calvin but in a good way. Combined it's become my favourite song of the 'Motion' era anyway so of course the rare Calvin flop had to be this.

Further comment:
Another track here helped a lot by having 2 great versions but put together this is a deserved position. I'd love to hear something like this from Calvin again but it probably won't happen now he's gone all rave and techno on us.

135 Loick Essien How We Roll (feat. Tanya Lacey) 1,289,700
27/06/2011 [EOY #18, 2011]
23-28-10-6-7-7-2-2-8-9-12-17-22-37-x-45-28-47-x

What I said:
Most people on this forum would tell you this is a piece of forgettable R&B trash - but I actually really like it. Loick's singing reminds me of Taio Cruz in a good way, and the rapping by Tanya Lacey really adds to it even if it's really short (gotta love her accent). However Loick really disappointed me with follow up single Me Without You, which is one of the most boring generic R&B songs ever.

Further comment:
Another song here that has dated a fair bit over the years but it's better than people gave it credit for. He soon disappeared after his follow-up anyhow so it did become one of the most forgotten UK #2 hits of the decade.

134 Sandy Rivera BANG! (feat. April) 1,294,500
08/12/2014 [EOY #11, 2015]
10-1-1-3-1-1-1-1-1-3-4-7-22-44-47-29-x-36-x

What I said:
Just missing out on the top 10 is 'BANG!' which served as the first Danaelandan BJSC entry of the year as well as being the #1 single for the first five weeks of the year. It is deep house at its finest, there's a nice guitar riff and a chilled out Robin Schulz style beat. What really brings it up to its standard is the vocals. April, who I can't find anything about thanks to her name does a really good job, and the 2nd verse where Sandy does vocal harmony is really lovely too.

Further comment:
This remains lovely, and would continue to be his only real hit with the follow-up only making my top 40 for 1 week.

133 Rihanna Diamonds 1,302,600
01/10/2012 [EOY #38, 2012]
24-3-7-9-17-18-29-31-5-7-7-10-14-13-11-16-33-37-37-41-39-35-44-x

What I said:
I cannot count the number of times she says 'shine bright like a dymond' in the song, but it makes it very catchy. When this premiered I had my doubts about this, but it shortly became a massive global worldwide super smash hit and I grew to love it. With the help of Kanye West's remix of the song it recently jumped back into the top 10 of my chart. It is a reminder that Rihanna can pull off the urban sound and despite no club dance beats it is a great tune that we'll surely be hearing a lot of in new year's eve parties and countdowns of the top selling songs of the year.

Further comment:
One of her greats of the decade, it's her 6th highest appearance here - 4th excluding her guest appearances.

132 Nero Guilt 1,303,000
04/04/2011 [EOY #21, 2011]
49-18-14-18-8-4-5-4-2-9-16-19-20-11-20-30-38-38-39-40-22-40-22-31-30-49-x

What I said:
Guilt has the same vocalist as M&Y and Promises who makes the song emotional with her lyrics. It took a long time to grow, but it just takes out M&Y as my favourite Nero song of the year.

Further comment:
It also just about manages to be their top seller of the decade and it was a big shame their follow up album didn't produce anything half as good.

131 Duke Dumont & Gorgon City Real Life (feat. Naations) 1,303,700
09/06/2017 [EOY #25, 2017]
17-12-14-12-12-6-7-4-4-4-9-11-11-10-12-18-23-28-31-40-48-x

What I said:
I was very excited to see Duke Dumont and Gorgon City were to collab on a new single as both of their styles mix together well, and they certainly did not disappoint. Introducing singer Naations they brought out a proper bop which got a lot of love in the dance forum and even managed to become an official top 40 hit. A real return to form for both artists production wise, and I'd say it's my absolute favourite of Gorgon City's. More of these plz.

Further comment:
It is Gorgon City's top song and Duke Dumont's 2nd highest.

and 'It Ain't Me' took a good while to tire on me - its 12 weeks in my top 10 makes it the third-longest top 10 runner with a #5 peak ever!

'Guilt' is phenomenal wub.gif definitely my favourite Nero single, although both 'Me & You' and 'Promises' are keepers too.

I also really enjoy 'I Wanna Feel' and 'Pray To God' from that section! The #35 peak for the latter is criminal.
