Top 40 Chart Commentary

• Avicii gets a record extending 15th week at #1 with 'Heaven', with Jax Jones remaining at #2 with 'This Is Real' after debuting there last week.

• The Danævii BJSC entry for the current contest is revealed to be 'Ven Pa Ca', which has been steadily climbing the chart for the past few months and now climbs to #3. If it eventually climbs to #1, it will break the record for most weeks spent in the chart before reaching #1. Also entering the top 5 are K-391 and friends with 'Play', becoming his second top five hit after 'Different World' reached #3 earlier this year (also Alan Walker's last top five hit before now - he now has four of those).

• Recently announced as Thelonia's BJSC entry for this month, 'The City Sleeps Tonight' from Ben Gold rises to #9 in its second week. Usually BJSC entries are excluded from the chart until the contest has ended but exceptions are allowed for songs already in the chart before being sent.

• As we enter a new contest, we have a load of entries from last contest making the chart. The highest of these for once comes from the winner, 'Ignis' from Rompasso (giving Jadakissnia their first win) - it enters at #10. It is a particularly strong contest month with more top 40 entries than usual. They are from; Desert Star (#16), Yoko Shimomura (#25), Jealous Mind et al (#26), Cosmo's Midnight (#27) and Ridgewalkers (#35).

• Headhunterz enters at #17 with 'Home', his 4th hit to date and 3rd of this year, including the #1 'Rescue Me'. Riton & Oliver Heldens enter at #19 with 'Turn Me On', a long-awaited 2nd hit for Riton following 'Rinse & Repeat' (#27, 2016) and the 16th hit for Heldens (first of this year).

• Endor enters at #29 with 'Pump It Up' - a Danzel rework. He last made the chart in 2014 with 'In Reality' (#16) and finally has a 2nd hit this week. No stranger to the chart however is Armin van Buuren, whose 25th hit is 'Mr. Navigator', entering at #30 (also giving Tempo Giusto his first hit). Finally, helped by 'Ignis' impacting this week, the Rompasso remix of 'Sayonara детка' from Eldzhey & Era Istrefi leaps into the top 40 at #38.
