Restless is New Order by numbers. The other three snippets are better. I like the first one the best.

“Restless” sounds a bit average on first listen, I'm hopeful though that they have something up their sleeve akin to “Crystal”!

Plastic sounds great - the melody is a bit rubbish.

Singularity is the best I've heard so far.

A much much better mix of Restless from RAC.

I've had a (/one of my many) moment of madness and ordered the deluxe vinyl edition of this. I liked the prospect of having extended versions of all of the tracks wub.gif

I think Q described it as their best album since Technique. Mind you, that's not saying a great deal. Definitely enjoying it - Plastic, Tutti Frutti and People on the High Line all sound like the band having a great time. I think I'd have bunged Restless somewhere in the middle of the album rather than at the start, Singularity makes much more sense as an opener.

If find that Get Ready is a lot better than it is given credit for.

Plastic sounds great but has a very weak melody. Singularity is deffo going to be an initial highlight for me.

Two and a half listens in and I really like it. Restless is the weakest song on the record.

Can't agree with you on Get Ready I'm afraid, it's the worst New Order record for me. Siren's Call next worst.

I've only had a quick flick through the mp3s so far but it all sounds quite promising so far... looking forward to hearing it in full tomorrow to give a more full assessment.

Lordy no. Sirens is weak. I prefer Get Ready to Movement too.

Crystal, Primitive Notion and Close Range are three of my favourite New Order songs.

Fair enough I suppose, I'm really not a fan of their sound at that time. At the moment I'd say Music Complete is good enough to stand up with the 20th century New Order stuff but nothing else is.

I am enjoy it - Singularity is still my fave. Stray Dog is constructed more like a Depeche Mode song than an NO one. I still haven't purchased it yet. Still using Spotify.

I really like “Plastic” - sounds a bit like Donna Summer/Giorgio Moroder in the melody. How can you call that WEAK Tony!?

When I first head Plastic it really excited me - I'd waited a long long time to get that buzz from a New Order song. I was making everyone listen to it.

But that was all about the music. The melody never surfaced. I find the melody weak. It may grown on me.

I've just listened to Plastic (on Spotify too!) again and I really like it...but I hate the ending of it. I wonder if it's supposed to be ironic as it's clear whatever Barney was trying to sing, he couldn't and it's a huge mess of computer trickery giving the exact opposite message of what he's singing.

No problem with the melody as such. The rhythm, bassline and La Roux's backing vox really make it.

Stray Dog is good but it hits very different switches in my head that New Order usually do. Much more DM than NO.
