Top 40 Commentary

Mark Ronson & Miley Cyrus overtake Kygo & Sandro Cavazza to reach #1 with 'Nothing Breaks Like A Heart', though it's still very close at the top. It is the first #1 single for either artist. They are likely to spend just the one week at #1 however as Calvin Harris releases his new single this week. Kygo slips to #2 whilst positions 3 through to 6 remain unchanged from last week. As Gryffin & ZOHARA remain at #4 with 'Remember', Gryffin's 'You Remind Me' climbs two places to #7. Gareth Emery & Emma Hewitt follow it up to #8 with 'Take Everything'. On its 24th week, 'Losing It' by FISHER finally makes the top 10 following a recent UK chart push. It originally peaked at #12 and now sits at #9. Adelphi Music Factory climb to #10 with 'Javelin', after claiming their first hit last week with it.

There were 40 entries in last week's top 40, a number which now decreases by 90% to 4. Lika Morgan is the highest of these with 'In Motion', which in its 2nd week in the overall chart jumps to #30; becoming her fourth T40 hit. It took a while particularly in comparison to his other releases, but 'Play' finally gives Jax Jones his 8th T40 hit as it climbs to #37. It is also the 8th T40 hit for Years & Years who the song is officially in collaboration with, though it's only Olly who makes any contribution.

2019 is already a great year for Gryffin who currently has two top 10 hits. He gets a third, and fifth overall, T40 hit this week as 'Tie Me Down' jumps to #39. It features Elley Duhé who has had no previous hits. Finally, at #40 is the return of Chris Brown, one of the most famous 'hit and miss' artists in Thermo's hot hits, having topped the EOY Hatechart twice but also having racked up quite a few hits. 'Undecided' becomes his 13th to reach the top 40, and his first since Rita Ora collab 'Body On Me' over 3 years ago.
