WTF at 'Impossible Princess' getting the most votes at this stage, thought it was a shoo-in for the top 5, especially when there's 'Let's Get To It' & 'KM94' still in the running. This was Kylie at her most riskiest and exploring an exciting new venture in what has to be her most frank and shocking work to date. I mean now its considered a masterpiece by just about everybody. I know at the time it was pretty much disregarded and came at a very fragile time in Kylie's career, and this sadly didn't set things right. But it did show another side to Kylie and that she wasn't just a one-trick pony, she was and still is a true artist.

I think at the time people just weren't ready for this, and the many delays didn't help, especially in the UK (where it got unfairly re-titled to just 'Kylie Minogue'). Why did they call it 'KM' again and why not retitle it after one of the album tracks instead like 'Say Hey', 'Limbo', 'Through The Years' or 'Dreams', any one of those would have been more interesting. I must admit it took me a few years to take to this album, as when I was younger I too preferred Kylie's pop sound. But as I grew up, I came to full embrace this wonderful collection of songs and I just GOT it, and now I'd probably rank this quite high up there with Kylie's albums.

'Too Far - gets the album gets off to an incredible start and a good representation of the new IndieKylie direction and if you thought you knew your Kylie music, think again. It comes racing in from nowhere and penetrates your mind completely. The trip-hop beat that runs throughout is fantastic with Kylie taking a deep vocal and really interesting lyrics, and just amazing through and through. It may not be to everyone's taste and may take a few listens to fully convince you of how incredible it is. This was gonna be the 4th UK single, in a remixed form, and while it would have been interesting to see how this would have fared, but considering how things were at the time, I doubt this would been a success.

'Cowboy Style' - An early Country twanged sound for Kylie, but with a darker tone set against a backdrop of synth beats and keyboard tones, along with a single violin that knits the chorus and verses together. All of which comes together in this cracking tune, that's also very accomplished. This made a very great single choice, even if it was just in Australia and really pops live at the iconic 'Intimate & Live' concert.

'Some Kind of Bliss' - A great guitar filled anthem, layered with strings and trumpets that makes more sense as part of the album. You can see why this was the first single, considering it has a more commercial sound, but not really an inspired choice and wouldn't really call it impressive on its own. But then again would anything else on this album would have worked instead.

'Did It Again' - Glad this somewhat rebounded things after the failure of the lead single, and a definite highlight on this album with some great production by 'Brothers In Rhythm' giving this a more pop/rock sound and the fantastic memorable music video probably helped, and plus this probably represents the album a whole lot better as a single.

'Breathe' - Definitely a lost classic and a true gem of a track where the album returns to more darker & murkier tone, more slower paced than its single version, however in its true form you can’t help feeling isolated and claustrophobic as you swim into its inner sanctum. But whatever floats your boat, you cannot deny that this is a sublime piece of music that shows the many layers that Kylie has as a performer.

'Say Hey' - Not one of my faves, but as for the song itself its simplistic in its execution but with the same energy and passion as everything before it, and therefore its definitely one of the album's most interesting numbers and delivers its message in just a few words which could well be genius.

'Drunk' - Again another that I've never quite taken too, but as itself a very mind tripping piece and fast paced indie/dance, where Kylie just totally goes bonkers all of which makes for an interesting experience.

'I Don't Need Anyone' - Very much in the same vein of 'SKOB', probably because they were both produced by the same people, with its guitar laden sound that's very much of its time (the 90's), this does kinda feel out of place amongst what surrounds it, but an okay track, nothing special.

'Jump' - There's some gorgeous production on this, with some beautiful strings and a slow drum beat melody that runs throughout, the strength and passion in Kylie's voice is what really elevates this to another level.

'Limbo' - I believe that this was Kylie's choice for the lead single, and I have to say that this would have been far more interesting, sounding completely different t anything she's done before as this wild tune goes off at an relentless pace, with guitars and high octane drum beats with a funky tinge to it, and plus Kylie does some great vocals on this.

'Through The Years' - A very sad and brooding track with some very deep and personal lyrics that are almost acoustic with a prominent drum beat throughout. A really good track.

'Dreams' - A perfect album closer, an outstanding composition with some superb production and strings that really compliment the emotion and drama of this soaring epic of a track, and Kylie really throws herself into this and it shows. Just beautiful and amazing.

I do think limbo could have been a more successful lead than skob and I love skob. I dont need anyone was a huge fave of mine on my first listen to the album and I still love it. Dreams i love too but not sure if it would have worked as a single. Your views on breathe are spot on and def a lost classic,I'm a huge huge fan of it. Commercially IP didnt do huge things for kylie but it really showed how versatile kylie is and also showed she can write a good sing.

IP was a crucial part of the re-invention of Kylie.
It was also a wonderful era as it provided Kylie with the opportunity to present herself differently to people to take notice of her as a credible artist.
A very enjoyable, solid and creative album.
