Should politicians have to live in the area they represent?

This applies particularly to local councillors, since MP's at least have the excuse that they have to have (second) homes in proximity to London to do their job.

It's ridiculous to be a politician representing an area but not live there yourself. Especially due to what you said: then they cannot make decisions that affect (?) the area but don't have to deal with the consequences themselves.
