The latest VMAs ceremony airs tomorrow and Ariana is up for lots of gongs - she's tied with Taylor Swift for the most nominations! 2013
Ariana was not nominated for anything in 2013 but she performed parts of both 'The Way' and 'Baby I' from her debut album on the red carpet! She changed from the above floral dress to a sparkly purple number for the performance. The highlight of this for me is her acapella vocals during the introduction of the performance, stunning! |

2014
This year Ariana was up for 4 awards! 'Problem' was nominated for 'Best Female Video', 'Best Pop Video', 'Best Collaboration' and 'Best Lyric Video'. The song ended up winning 'Best Pop Video' so that became Ariana's first ever VMA win! As for performances, Ariana took to the stage to sing 'Break Free', followed by Nicki Minaj performing 'Anaconda', then the two of them grouped together with Jessie J to sing 'Bang Bang'. Another vocal serve for Ari during 'Bang Bang'! |

2015
Ariana was rocking the above black and white ensemble this year! Living for the massive top knot. Sadly no performance or even win this year but she was nominated in the 'Best Collaboration' category TWICE for 'Bang Bang' and 'Love Me Harder'. The latter robbed tbh. |

2016
Sadly another year of 0 wins for Ariana despite more nominations. These noms in question were 'Best Female Video', 'Best Pop Video', 'Best Editing' and 'Best Cinematography' for 'Into You' and 'Best Collaboration' for 'Let Me Love You'. 2016 swiftly saw a return for Ariana and Nicki on stage together as they performed smash hit 'Side to Side'! This wasn't a vintage year for Ari vocally, as she seemed pretty out of breath due to the exercise bikes gimmick from the video! But I did love how the performance was presented. |

Let's lump the last two years together as there was no 2017 red carpet appearance!
2017 No red carpet appearance for the first time as mentioned above, plus no performance, then unfortunately no wins again. The most notable aspect of this year is that she was nominated for 'Artist of the Year' for the first time, plus 'Best Choreography' for 'Side to Side'. Maybe better luck for AOTY this year? 2018 Last year she took to the red carpet with then-fiancé Pete Davidson. She was back to winning this year thankfully! She scooped 'Best Pop' for 'no tears left to cry'. The song was also nominated for 'Video of the Year', 'Best Cinematography' and 'Best Visual Effects'. She also lost 'Artist of the Year'. This year was ALL about the performance though - she sang empowering anthem 'God is a woman, complete with a diverse female dance team and even her mum and Nonna making an appearance. What a triumph! |

Hope you guys enjoyed that trip down memory lane *.* best of luck to Ari for tomorrow! Third time lucky for AOTY please.
My rankings of her performances and looks: Looks 01. 2014 02. 2015 03. 2016 04. 2018 05. 2013 Not a fan of the 2013 red carpet look but everything else was fine I think! She looked so fierce in 2014. Performances 01. 2018 (God is a woman) 02. 2013 (Baby I/The Way) 03. 2016 (Side to Side) 04. 2014 (Break Free/Bang Bang) The 'God is a woman' performance is my #1 by miles! She's always been a fantastic vocalist but she's really come along so much as a performer. |

Is she attending this tomorrow?
I take it she’s flying straight out of Manchester now. Edit: just seen she’s in Paris on Tuesday. This post has been edited by Jordan Lee: 26th August 2019, 12:24 AM |

Yeah I remember seeing on Twitter that she wouldn't be attending due to touring commitments or something a shame when she's been such a regular attendee over the years - only missing 2017 as you can see above! I would've so been here for a '7 rings' performance. Hope it doesn't hinder her AOTY chances too much.

Ugh the way these things work is so unfair! I won't be watching it (back to work, need to be sensible) but if any of you guys are watching then do feel free to let us know if she won anything! |

Just seen that she won ARTIST OF THE YEAR omg I was not expecting that! G’won plus that 'song of the summer' award for ‘boyfriend’ as you said LewisGT (late addition of an award I guess, didn’t know that was a thing ) and art direction for ‘7 rings’, yay! She was the joint most awarded person as Taylor and Billie Eilish won 3 too. Glad she was able to do so well without being there.

Artist Of the Year is the most deserved imo. It genuinely couldn't have gone to anyone else. So I'm SO happy she got that one.

Unfortunately not, apparently Ariana tweeted about 6 wins but then deleted it - I think that's where these pages have got this false info from off the top of my head I know Camila/Shawn won best cinematography for instance. Not sure why Ari was misinformed but yeah it's definitely 3! I totally agree with you that Artist of the Year feels so deserved - videos like 'God is a woman', 'breathin', 'thank u, next' and '7 rings' since the last cut-off point are a great little collection.

Aaah. Fair enough.
But still, so deserved. Queen of not showing up and winning one of the big awards *.* |
