Channeling the imaginations and aesthetics of forebears like Sia and Lady Gaga, Albanian-American pop singer/songwriter Ava Max delivers empowering, dance-friendly anthems similar to contemporaries such as Bebe Rexha, Sigrid, and Dua Lipa. Born Amanda Ava Koci in Wisconsin, she was raised by Albanian immigrant parents in Virginia. Known for his eclectic sound and broad range of influences, B Young is a rapper from Hackney, East London who made his appearance on the scene in 2017 with the single "Been Wavey." Time To Burn now that’s a great forgotten dance tune. was surprised to learn it was a top 3 hit as it didn’t sound like it’d have been that big, but I suppose it was in a time when trance was actually big.

hoping Paul Woolford makes it in as high as possible and that’s the only thing exciting about this chart week for me lol.

Kygo turned the dance-music world on its ear in the simplest way possible: by slowing down. The Norwegian producer (born Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll in 1991) cut his teeth crafting bootleg remixes of songs like Lana Del Rey’s “Born to Die” and James Blake’s “The Wilhelm Scream”, fleshing out the originals with contrasting touches: EDM drops inspired by his fondness for Avicii and ruminative melodies reflective of his childhood piano studies. Biography

Khaled Mohamed Khaled (born November 26, 1975), better known by his stage name DJ Khaled, is an American DJ, record executive, songwriter, record producer, and media personality. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Khaled first gained prominence as a radio host in the 1990s on Miami hip hop station 99 Jamz. His popularity later prompted hip hop group Terror Squad to hire Khaled as the DJ for their live performances. After gaining some production credits on the group's material, Khaled then transitioned into curating albums, releasing his debut studio album Listennn... the Album in 2006, which earned gold certification.

He followed that up with the album We the Best (2007), which contained the top 20 single "I'm So Hood". His subsequent two releases — We Global (2008) and Victory (2010) — were released after the founding of Khaled's record label We the Best Music Group. Both albums charted within the top ten on the US Billboard 200, with the latter containing the single "All I Do Is Win", which was eventually certified triple platinum.

His fifth studio album We the Best Forever (2011) also saw similar commercial success, and helped bring Khaled to international prominence, as it featured the song "I'm on One", which became his first top ten hit. His sixth and seventh album, Kiss the Ring (2012) and Suffering from Success (2013), charted in the top ten on the Billboard 200, and his eighth studio album, I Changed a Lot (2015), peaked at number 12.

In 2015 and early 2016, Khaled gained worldwide attention as a media personality, and subsequently attained a large following on social media. This foresaw the release of his ninth studio album Major Key in 2016. The album attained wholesale critical and commercial success; it debuted atop the Billboard 200, it was certified gold, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. He released his tenth studio album, Grateful, in 2017, which contained the singles "I'm the One" and "Wild Thoughts", which charted at number one and number two on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and was also certified platinum. His eleventh album, Father of Asahd, was released in 2019; it peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. The song from the album, "Higher" featuring Nipsey Hussle and John Legend won Best Rap/Sung Performance at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, Khaled's first Grammy award win.

Biography

When his life was cut short in the early hours of February 19, 2020, Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke was, at the age of 20, more famous than he’d ever been, yet nowhere close to where he was likely to end up. He exploded onto the scene in 2019 with “Welcome to the Party,” a song that somehow plays as enticing as it is menacing, exemplifying Brooklyn’s rising drill music scene at its sharpest. His voice across it—gruff and road-worn beyond his age—carries the delivery of a supervillain, daring his adversaries to try and stop the mayhem he has planned for the city.

Pop Smoke was from the far-flung Canarsie neighborhood, and his verses radiate a singular kind of Real Brooklyn energy. (A great deal of his "Welcome to the Party” video takes place in front of the long-standing jerk chicken staple Peppa’s.) His slang (“sturdy,” “dap me up”) was largely New York City-centric, which helped songs like “War,” “Christopher Walking,” and “Dior” reverberate quickly through, and beyond, the five boroughs. Fans worldwide got indoctrinated upon accepting his 2019 debut project’s invitation to Meet the Woo; a sequel, Meet the Woo 2, was released just weeks before his death. Pop Smoke worked well with the stars of his city, nabbing collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Bronx heartthrob A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and fellow ascending voices Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign. He’d even have no problem setting his own tone on his Travis Scott collaboration “GATTI,” from the JACKBOYS project. Paul Michael Woolford has been working tirelessly for over 20 years both in DJ booths globally, and in a myriad of recording studios, to redefine and reinvent all shapes of dance music. Thomas Wesley Pentz (born November 10, 1978), known professionally as Diplo, is an American DJ, songwriter, and record producer based in Los Angeles, California. He is the co-creator and lead member of the electronic dancehall music project Major Lazer, a member of the supergroup LSD with Sia and Labrinth, a member of electronic duo Jack Ü with producer and DJ Skrillex, and a member of Silk City with Mark Ronson. He founded and manages record company Mad Decent, as well as co-founding the non-profit organization Heaps Decent. U.K. drill MC Digga D spits gritty bars over low-end bass lines, trading in the dark, often violent lyrics associated with the genre. Digga D first emerged as part of West London crew 1011 before releasing a string of solo singles in 2017, including "Kill Confirmed," "Play for the Pagans," "No Hook," and "Next Up." The Metropolitan police launched a campaign to remove all of his videos in 2018, after they amassed significant views. This backfired, as Digga D fans re-uploaded them in multiple locations, leading to the police issuing a CBO (criminal behavior order) to the artist; this required him to screen all of his releases through the authorities, where they would not permit anything that incited violence against individuals or even certain areas of London. Little Mix are a British girl group formed in 2011 during the eighth series of the UK version of The X Factor. Biography

Rapper Jack Harlow gained significant regional buzz as a teenager coming up in Louisville, Kentucky's hip-hop scene, but matured quickly as his styles developed with each new song. Examining the pains, victories, and boredom of youth with an honesty and vulnerability lacking in many of his peers, he went from songs about partying and hanging out on 2015's The Handsome Harlow EP to more nuanced lyrics about sexuality, depression, and self-doubt on 2017 mixtape Gazebo. His raw talent and growing acclaim led to a record deal with Atlantic Records subsidiary Generation Now, which released his full-length project Loose in 2018.

Jack Harlow was born in Louisville in 1998 and began rapping and writing rhymes by the time he was 12. As a high schooler, he fell in with the city's underground hip-hop scene, performing locally and releasing songs online that tended more toward topics of fun adolescence. A debut EP, Handsome Harlow, surfaced in 2015, followed by a more fully fleshed-out 2016 mixtape, 18. Harlow showed significant maturation on the next year's Gazebo mixtape, which included the frenetic single "Dark Knight." Regional attention and tours began to attract the notice of labels, particularly DJ Drama's Generation Now imprint, a sublabel in the Atlantic Records family. The label released Harlow's 2018 mixtape Loose, which included cameos from K Camp and CyHi the Prynce. Another mixtape followed for the label a year later with Confetti. In 2020, Harlow returned with the EP Sweet Action, which featured guest appearances by CuBeatz, Jetsonmade, Pooh Beatz, Puand, and 2forwOyNE. Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Jarad Higgins would freestyle rap through his school hallways. As a teenager, he began recording as Juice WRLD (a nod to the 1992 film starring 2Pac) and set his eyes on stardom. “My biggest fear is not getting to the point I want to,” he told Apple Music in the documentary accompanying his 2018 Up Next campaign, “but that’s also my biggest strength.” His distinctive, genre-blending take on emo rap—Auto-Tuned vocals, hints of pop punk, and beats inspired by Chief Keef and Chicago drill—shines on the breakthrough singles “Lucid Dreams” and “All Girls Are the Same,” which plumbed grief and regret and heartbreak with alarming honesty. Just five months after his star-making debut project, Goodbye & Good Riddance, he released a full-length collaboration with Future that felt like a euphoric, decadent victory lap. Biography

Australian singer/songwriter Sam Fischer writes honest, thought-provoking lyrics that are easy to relate to, with the intention of providing comfort to the listener. The Los Angeles resident has written songs for Ciara, Clean Bandit, and Jennifer Hudson, and has been releasing solo material since 2016. After being featured on Black Saint's 2019 hit "Everybody Wants You," his earlier solo tune "This City" took off later in the year.

Fischer was born outside of Sydney, Australia and was writing songs by age 12. He grew up training classically on saxophone and violin and eventually ended up studying at the Berklee College of Music in the early 2010s. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles and began working in earnest on a solo music career while also taking part in L.A.'s a cappella scene and performing as a backup vocalist with the band HOLYCHILD. While working as much as possible in the music industry, Fischer readied his own songs and by 2016 had released his first single, the romantic, R&B-informed "Lean." He followed the next year with singles "Same Friends" and "Getting Older," as well as being featured on Opia's swaying single "Secrets." His debut EP, Not a Hobby, was first released in January of 2018. Fischer co-wrote Ciara's song "Dose" and was featured on tracks by Pat Lok and Nighttime Crowd, but "Everybody Wants You," his 2019 collaboration with London's Black Saint, became a dance hit during the summer. Just catching up on this... listened to the Paul Woolford track and I'm majorly disappointed by it. I've loved lots of his previous work but this is nowhere near his best - typical this is the one finally making the chart!

And also just listened to the Little Mix track, it's really awful for them. Zero personality about it which is such a letdown given they're capable of making songs that sound only like they could be them.

Just five months after his star-making debut project, Goodbye & Good Riddance, he released a full-length collaboration with Future that felt like a euphoric, decadent victory lap. Nobody makes feeling bad sound as good as The Weeknd. East Staffordshire-based producer Nathan Dawe creates club music that draws heavily from garage and R&B.

Born in Burton-upon-Trent in 1994, Dawe began remixing other producers in his early twenties. Although he had begun to make a name for himself, it wasn't until the release of his 2018 single "Cheatin" that his career took off; after releasing the track, Atlantic Records got in touch to sign a deal. Biography

Biography

Becky Hill
With her highly resonant voice and R&B-influenced style, Becky Hill first came to the public's attention competing on series one of The Voice UK. Ultimately reaching the show's semifinal round, Hill emerged a fan favorite and became the first Voice UK contestant to score a number one single when "Gecko (Overdrive)," her collaboration with Dutch EDM star Oliver Heldens, topped the U.K. singles chart in June 2014.

Born on February 14, 1994 in Bewdley, Worcestershire, England, Hill was no stranger to music when she first auditioned for the then new The Voice UK in 2012. As a teenager, she had sung with the acoustic rock & soul group Shaking Trees, which created some local buzz and received several plays on BBC Radio. On The Voice UK she made it to the semifinal with her powerful renditions of R&B songs by the likes of John Legend and others, before being eliminated. By her own admission, she was a novice in the music industry game and it took her 18 months to finally get a record deal. In the meantime, however, her sultry, soulful, older-than-her-years voice was highly sought-after by dance artists looking for feature vocalists. Her first recorded appearance, on British drum'n'bass artist Wilkinson's single "Afterglow," went to number eight on the U.K. singles chart. She then appeared on Rudimental's single "Powerless," singing with them at several U.K. festivals in 2013, including Glastonbury.

Following her success with Heldens, Hill worked extensively with London-based dance producer MNEK and issued her debut solo single, "Caution to the Wind." It showcased a shift toward a more electronica-influenced sound, with twinkling melodies and production reminiscent of Four Tet. The Eko EP appeared in 2017, and included the single "Unpredictable." The single "Sunrise in the East" followed a year later. Sigala
Sigala is the musical nom de plume of Bruce Fielder, a London-based house DJ, producer, and remixer. Born and raised in Norfolk, England, Fielder began piano as a child, and played in various bands after graduating university. He found work as a producer, and co-wrote Ella Eyre and Sigma's 2015 U.K. hit single "Good Times." His first solo single as Sigala was "Easy Love," an energetic house tune built around a sample of the Jackson 5's iconic hit "ABC." Released by Ministry of Sound, it entered the U.K. singles chart and shot up to number one in its second week. Fielder's second single, "Sweet Lovin'" (featuring singer/songwriter Bryn Christopher), hit number three and was certified gold or platinum in several countries. Several more hits followed in 2016, including "Say You Do" (featuring Imani and DJ Fresh), "Give Me Your Love" (featuring John Newman and Chic's Nile Rodgers), and "Ain't Giving Up," a collaboration with Craig David that appeared on his sixth album, Following My Intuition. Fans worldwide got indoctrinated upon accepting his 2019 debut project’s invitation to Meet the Woo; a sequel, Meet the Woo 2, was released just weeks before his death. Pop Smoke worked well with the stars of his city, nabbing collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Bronx heartthrob A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and fellow ascending voices Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign. He’d even have no problem setting his own tone on his Travis Scott collaboration “GATTI,” from the JACKBOYS project. Biography

In 2017, rapper DaBaby showed up to Austin’s South by Southwest festival wearing nothing but a diaper and sneakers—a gimmick, sure, but one that helped him go viral. Of course, that was the point: Since picking up the microphone in 2014, the Charlotte rapper (born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk in 1991) has demonstrated a keen awareness of how to cultivate presence in the internet era, coupling his bounciest tracks (“Suge,” “Walker Texas Ranger,” “Goin Baby,” “Baby Sitter”) with outrageous videos, crafting a persona by turns rude, violent, goofy, and dead serious. (His energy—he often sounds like he literally can’t wait to get on a track—can be so charismatic and infectious that you forget he’s rapping about how he’s prepared to mow down everyone in his way.)
