I have no idea what the fourth biggest selling single of the year is, or how it sounds. The first time since...
*Googles* ...1970, Freda Payne's Band Of Gold. There's not much I've heard this year that's appealed to me, but there's been years in the past where I've heard most of my faves much later than when they came out, so maybe I'll have a list of 2017 classics by the end of the decade... |

Do we know The Killers - Mr Brightside overall sales? Must've passed a million by now?

Should pass 2 million chart units sometime in 2018. Not sure if it's done a million actual sales yet. |

Just wondering HOW have you escaped Unforgettable? I mean if it's a choice to not be interested in charting songs then I get it but if you live an ordinary life listening to new music and radio there's no way that you haven't heard Unforgettable. And I think it's actually the best song in top ten so you have missed a lot. This post has been edited by SKOB: 4th January 2018, 02:14 PM |

So "Anywhere" is actually Nowhere to be found in the Top 100 despite having spent 8 weeks in the Top 10.

So "Anywhere" is actually Nowhere to be found in the Top 100 despite having spent 8 weeks in the Top 10. The number 100 on the YE chart ('Thunder' by Imagine Dragons) sold about 418,000 in 2017. 'Anywhere' by Rita Ora had sold just over 408,000 so was probably not too far from the YE top 100. |

Is there any clue at all on sales figures? For New Rules, if nothing else.

It did, but it spent a very long time in the top 100 (and it had 2 separate weeks at #42 months apart).

I'm working on doing some sales estimates and hope to have this finished by next weekend. For 'New Rules' I've estimated 1,025,000 sales. That total looks is more correct than mine - I've included the 16,715 she sold this week (29 Dec-05 Jan)! Rough figures for the chart: #1: 3,260,000 #10: 1,083,000 #50: 685,000 #100: 420,000 |

I agree at around 420k for #100, but have #50 at more like 615-625k Also ~805-810k for #22 ~505-510 #78 ~1030k #11 ~675-680k #39 ~535k #70 ~440k #92 ~735-740k #33 HTH. The problem is that it didn't enter the chart until November. But if we compare it to for example "Rockabye" for last year, "Sorry" for 2015, "Steal My Girl" for 2014, "How Long Will I Love You" for 2013, etc you'll see how sad the state is that a song released beginning of Nov has almost NO chance of even making the Top 100 anymore unless it's No. 1 for pretty much the entire time.. Can You Hear Me (Ayayaya) entered the chart on 10.11.2012, spent 9 weeks on the chart (3-7-13-17-18-25-32-37-27), placed No. 92 on the YEC. How Long Will I Love You entered the chart on 23.11.2013, spent 7 weeks on the chart (3-4-8-7-5-7-7), placed No. 48 on the YEC. Steal My Girl entered the chart on 25.10.2014, spent 11 weeks on the chart (3-11-7-9-3-6-6-8-12-15-14), placed No. 54 on the YEC. Sorry entered the chart on 05.11.2015, spent 9 weeks on the chart (2-2-2-1-1-2-2-2-3), placed No. 10 in the YEC. Rockabye entered the chart on 03.11.2016, spent 10 weeks on the chart (7-3-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1), placed No. 37 on the YEC. Anywhere entered the chart on 02.11.2016, spent 10 weeks on the chart (20-11-5-2-2-2-3-5-5-8), placed 101+ on the YEC?! |

Anywhere's weekly sales haven't been astounding, that and 10 weeks in just weren't enough. |
