Avril posted on Instagram last night about her new music which will be her first in five (!) years since her self-titled:

QUOTE
I'm so f***ing pumped. Waking up so excited. February is a great month. I've started mixing my album and all of the pieces are finally coming together. These songs are so close to my heart. Wish me luck while I throw every last drop of me into these final stages.
Time is power. And I needed this time. To live. To write. To go through my ups and downs. And while I am eager to get this done ha I've finally learned to enjoy the journey, the ride, the present time.

Looking forward to hearing what she releases, "Rock N Roll" was great but the rest of that era was far from peak Avril. She has a lot to reflect on with this album so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a something good (and presumably soon!)

Wonder how she’ll do chart wise. Could do a Paramore [Hard Times].

the lead singles from the last 2 albums were very poor imho
and she totally lost me as a fan with the duet with chad kroeger
also hopes she shows some evolution/maturity, she cannot keep pretending like she's still 16

Her second album was fab back in the day and she's had a handful of 00's classics, hopefully this big break has allowed her to grow rather than repeating the WTH/HTNGU theme.

Hyped for this, I was a big Avril fan back in the day and enjoyed some of the previous albums singles (bar Hello Kitty which killed her reputation a bit). Her sound changed a lot which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but I would it if she want back to her more punk pop rock sort of sound - but more mature of course. A Paramore type comeback could be amazing

I'm here for it. What The Hell is still one of mine and my best friends iconic jams and personally I enjoyed Here's To Never Growing Up, Smile and Wish You Were Here. As long as we don't go down the Hello Kitty route we are cool.

Her first three albums are all-time favourites of mine and 'Goodbye Lullabye' was decent too. Hope she comes back with a bang to make up for the eponymous album being so underwhelming (and housing her worst ever song 'Hello Kitty' *shudders*).

I need to make a playlist of her singles discography and remind myself of how much I enjoyed her!

I'm here for some Hello Kitty-esque tracks as it is one of her best songs!

Rock N Roll was a 10/10 bop tbh.

It was an absolute 11/10. wub.gif Her best moment by a clear mile.

I actually really liked her last album! A lot of it I really enjoyed and it had lots of highs (obviously the Chad Kroeger duet and ‘Hello Kitty’ were not two of them).

The first three albums are her best three but the latter two have their moments too, notably What the Hell and Rock N Roll wub.gif

Hard to pick between The Best Damn Thing and Under My Skin as her best though, both brilliant and have loads of memories attached!

Under My Skin is definitely better than TBDT! It's one the best albums ever! Goodbye Lullaby is also super underrated, such a beautiful record.

Rock N Roll and What The Hell are her best overall songs.

Under My Skin would be my favourite of her albums.

I'm shocked to see Rock N Roll get so much praise here. I love it personally but I had no idea it was so well liked. Shame it flopped.

Love the new single a lot more than I first thought and her vocals have really improved. I’m here for her again. Album 6 already better than the last two based off Head Above Water.

Her last album is so underrated. sad.gif There are a few absolute stinkers but it has more highlights than any of her other albums imo, Rock n' Roll, 17, Let Me Go, Bad Girl and Hello Kitty (not sorry x) are up with her best. And 'Give You What You Like' has grown so much into one of my all time favorites from Avril, what a gem wub.gif
