I'm not the biggest fan of the 'Shrek' franchise. I find them quite annoying at times (the first 2 are good, but really overrated - oops!) I never bothered with the 1st PIB movie due to the fact I didn't care for the franchise as much as everyone else does etc.. I wasn't going to bother with this as the trailers didn't sell me as I thought the animation looked inconsistent and dated and it was annoying me just in the trailer alone.
Ngl the animation was what I expected but much less than I had anticipated. It's literally the only part of the movie that grated on me as everything else was... legit... OUTSTANDING! One of the strongest screenplays and stories I have seen for an animation in a LONG time. Probably since 'Inside Out'. The villain is an all time great movie villain... they captured that entire antagonist PERFECTLY! Honestly it's everything you could want from an adventure, road-trip movie with fairytale characters. I'm SHOCKED that it's as good as it is. BELIEVE THE HYPE! HOW DARE IT BE TOP 3 OF THE YEAR SO FAR!???! |
