I still think it will be close. Kylie fans will buy every format imaginable, and while little Mix fans will have more formats to buy from than ever before, they won't go as hard. They haven't got the same income as the 50+ year old gays who collect Kylie stuff.

The thing about Kylie that has helped her with pre-orders is that both her singles have been released since the album went up for pre-order. Little Mix have two singles on their album but both were released before being attached to an album. I will be very interested to see how Little Mix's 3rd single (the first directly linked to the album pre-order) helps their pre-orders.

i am almost certain Kylie will end up ahead in the first midweeks, regardless of even if Little Mix's next single ends up somehow being a smash, but streaming matters more and more for albums these days and could help Little Mix catch up over the week, given Kylie will probably get next to streams comparatively.

Little Mix's show hasn't done quite the numbers people were expecting, but it seems to have pushed Little Mix's pre-orders on amazon itunes a little higher.

Could you sound any more bitter?

There are plenty Kylie fans, of various demographics, that will collect any and all formats she releases. Poor Little Mix though I guess?

I think Kylie should manage the no1. She really does need to get off her arse and promote though, even a performance on the one show ala Steps would be better than nowt. 'Magic' is definitely a song which can help sell an album, but it's not much use if people haven't heard it. I appreciate as a cancer survivor she has to be doubly careful during this pandemic, but I hope she can get herself out there a bit.

I don't think Joe meant anything bad by that. The point is that Kylie has a dedicated fanbase, a lot of who have been following her career since the beginning and are more likely to have more disposable income than Little Mix fans.

Could you come across anymore insulting ?

Never heard anything so stupid, most kylie fans are probably 30-50 which would incorporate me who was a kid in the late 80s and the teens fans who were fans in the 2000s

I am definitly sure that you have never been to any Kylie concert otherwise you would have known that most of the attendance doesnt fall into that category... its true a lot of them are gay men but most if them are in the 25-45 demographic.... not to mention the women and the straight couple... ur comment is really judgemental...

But I'm pretty sure he didn't say that only 50+ year old gays go to Kylie concerts? It's not necessarily the same people who go to her concerts that collect her releases in every format...

I literally just meant Kylie fans have more disposable incoming which will work in her favour, unlike little mix fans loads of which won't even have jobs lol. Kylie has fans that have been collecting her work for decades.

I feel both sets of fans will be disappointed by the final totals release week. We have seen how these fan base acts have most of their sales funnelled into their pre-orders these days.

If it is 16k Kylie and 10k Little Mix pre-orders thus far I'm going to say it will be 34k little mix 40k for Kylie come the final chart. Casual purchases of albums just don't happen much these days and I don't see either adding too much through streaming sales.

Oh I didn't mean to sound bitter at all. I was trying to weigh up the pros and cons for both fan based in how close it might be. But, looking back I could have said 30+/40+ but in my mind I was thinking about how lots of fans would have been a certain age and may have been following her since she started her career and throughout the last 35 years. And I know a lot of Kylie's die hard collector fans personally because they're my friends and I've seen how many formats they sometimes buy! I was comparing it to Little Mix fans, a huge amount which will have to wait for their parents to buy it for them, or are school kids with no jobs etc.

Absolutely. And as someone who works in that sector, I can confirm that an older audience are definitely more inclined to bundle and buy various versions of the same album by a particular artist. It's not even just Kylie (and it does happen with her - We had 2 or 3 people buy every version of 'Golden' on release day). Literally this Friday just gone, someone bought every copy of Prince's 'Sign O' The Times' re-issue. The same thing happens with The Beatles, David Bowie, Madonna, Rolling Stones et al.

Some of you have definitely over reacted to Joe's comment lmao.

I agree with your comments, there is no doubt Kylie has a large gay fanbase many of them men but she also has other fans outside that fanbase aswell, her concerts that i have attended have a very varied crowd including her gay fans, straight men and women, some teenagers and straight couples. The age demographic is very much 25-45 and certainly not all people aged 50+.

of course Kylie has an older fanbase as she started in 1988
but it doesn't mean all her fans are seniors at the retirement home

I think hardcore fans are all ages, sure BTS fans will buy any format too and sure the fans are not pensionists

This is where everyone over reacted to Joe... she definitely DOES have an older fanbase and that's only natural and understandable (those that grew up with her when she first launched will surely be late 40's/early 50's now?)

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, Joe's point was that majority of her loyal fanbase are more likely and old enough to have a disposable income to be able to buy one version of every format they can.

It's such an over reaction to his post. It's actually pretty funny!

I followed her from the beginning and am a big and have only just turned 40.

There is a real mix of Kylie fans. I am a huge fan and will buy the CD only. There will be very few who buy the full bundles I would think.

Yeah, I was using it as an example, I wasn't saying it was only 50+, I was just saying that little mix wouldn't get that same benefit. My logic was if someone was late teens/at uni when she started out they'd be like mid-50s ish now. I honestly know that it's not only those that are her fans, but the older fans will have more disposable income. And Kylie does have a lot of that. I'm 32 and have had Magic on repeat all week!

It was meant to be an example of how Kylie will benefit for the chart anyway.
