The first is definitely one of my favourite superhero movies out of those I've seen. Exciting.

Posted by: Josh. 19th October 2016, 05:57 PM

Baby Groot is going to be so adorable. Loved all the characters in the original five and excited to see the additions of Nebula and Yondu to the team. Going to be a lot of fun, I think! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Regina 19th October 2016, 06:10 PM

"Do you need a hug?" omg laugh.gif

Repeated viewings made me love the first one, so rather looking forward to this, more Nebula is always good.

Posted by: Jonjo 19th October 2016, 06:35 PM

I literally cannot wait and I'm SO excited we have something!

I wonder if the proper trailer will be used/premiered during 'Doctor Strange'? Or maybe 'Star Wars: Rogue One'.

Posted by: Josh. 20th October 2016, 01:55 PM

Feel like this is my new favourite gif already.

Posted by: Jonjo 20th October 2016, 02:33 PM

Groot has his own StarLord leather jacket in that gif! It's FUCKING ADORABLE!!!

I WAS NOT READY.

NOW I'M A QUIVERING MESS.

HELP.

Posted by: Josh. 3rd December 2016, 11:28 PM

Omg, this looks so damn good! Probably my most hyped film of 2017 at this point, the only negative so far is the octopus villain thing looks a bit generic baddie. Baby Groot is going to be amazing and all the humour/soundtrack look just as good as the last film. Loved the ending laugh.gif

The fact they've shown this octopus/alien thing in all the teasers and concept art etc... makes me think that it's not what it seems and it'll either be

A - the opening scene
B - an obstacle to the real baddie which they get rid of half way through, to which it may turn into the real threat after being defeated. (If this makes sense haha)

Marvel are usually quite careful not to give too much away!

So excited!

I CANNOT f***ING WAIT I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait for it wub.gif

awesome! funnyyyyyy! and an excuse for me to re-chart the fab Fox On The Run (by teen-heroes The Sweet) cheer.gif

Posted by: bah... humbug... 4th December 2016, 10:56 AM

OMG.... love that, actually I just purchased the first film on DVD for a fiver, I shall watch that over Xmas to get me in the mood for the new movie next year. I think this and Wonder Woman are going to be the biggest comic book blockbusters of 2017

Thinking you might be right there that it's just going to be a fun action scene at some point in the movie and the finale will be something a bit more exciting. I just want to see more footage from this already, am so hyped!!

Agree with Martin that so far, this and Wonder Woman are by far the things to look forward to most next year wub.gif

How much FUN does this look!?! Once again Rocket Raccoon and Baby Groot steal the show by both being absolutely adorable but there seems to be some great jokes, action scenes and big reveals too. Incredibly excited, having a feeling this is going to be my movie of the summer wub.gif

Posted by: John Thronton 2nd March 2017, 09:23 AM

I don't think I am gonna like it at all! Well, sorry, everyone.

Posted by: James' Guitar 2nd March 2017, 01:52 PM

I think it'll be good. Looking forward to it.

Posted by: Mack 19th March 2017, 03:09 PM

No 'I Am Groot' from Baby Groot then in the film?

Posted by: Regina 19th March 2017, 03:17 PM

Babies don't tend to speak. Even baby trees.

Posted by: Mack 19th March 2017, 09:48 PM

Movie highlight of the summer for me this, loved the first film.

Posted by: Slick 19th March 2017, 10:38 PM

I'm really looking forward to this as I always do with anything by Marvel and there's something about the 'Guardian' films which sets them apart from other films in this genre.

(I'm also looking forward to Chris Pratt in that grey sweater.)

Saw this last night at the premiere and it was really fun. I was a bit late and my seats weren't the best, so I didn't get, visually what I would have liked to, but I think I'll see it in 3D in the imax soon to get the film's full effect, as it was very colourful.

In terms of plot, it wasn't as focused as the last one, 'nor most of the MCU films. In fact, it was very messy - but its characters and and the witty dialogue saved it - lots of laugh out loud moments. I was hoping there would be more tie-ins leading up to Infinity War, but there wasn't. The 5 post-credit scenes were all a little disappointing. But yeah, fun! A good addition to the franchise.

Saw this today (quiet afternoon screenings are the best *.*), was kinda more of the same from the first film, but that's not a bad thing at all. I think this might be my favourite Marvel franchise to follow actually, the focus on humour/classic music aside, the characterisation is great here, they all feel genuinely fleshed out and likeable despite their flaws which makes it all the better and more gripping to follow. The whole Ego plot was a little bit confusing to follow, but I liked the scope of it and much preferred it to the Guardians vs Nebula & The Ravagers that I feared it was looking like.

Oh, and Baby Groot is sure enough the best thing ever wub.gif Need to bookmark him dancing to ELO.

Posted by: RobinJuanPersie 28th April 2017, 07:15 PM

This is already by far my favourite film of all time. I was literally smiling the whole way through. I can't wait until (at least) 2019 for Guardians 3 though.

Posted by: Jonjo 28th April 2017, 07:46 PM

Absolutely LOVED it (seeing it again tonight with my mate who is yet to see it, mainly coz the first time always overwhelms me a bit). It definitely didn't feel AS consistent as the first, but I never expected it to anyway tbh! The stories did intertwine a lot better and more naturally than I had feared though! SO MANY moments in this. Pretty much everything to do with Baby Groot (is he the greatest ever character?!) and Drax was funny as per (although I did get a bit annoyed with that laugh he does by the 3rd time he does it!)

The worst part though seeing Baby Groot almost get crushed! My heart literally SANK, especially when you heard his cry!!! cry.gif cry.gif

Posted by: ~josh~ 29th April 2017, 07:33 AM

I absolutely adored this! biggrin.gif It is definitely more centred around the characters just having fun rather than having much of an actual plot but once it got going in that sense, I did think Ego was a pretty cool villain. A shame all these Marvel villains are just movie and you're done (unless you're Loki) sad.gif I liked what they did with Yondu too, made me really feel for a character that I did not take to at all in the first movie. The humour was spot on as expected too, my favourite jokes were Baby Groot trying to find Yondu's fin thing, giant Pacman and also the Mary Poppins reference laugh.gif The teenage Groot scene was probably my favourite post-credits scene too, wasn't expecting that laugh.gif Baby Groot is easily the best character for me though aspthers have said, so cute!!! Loved the opening credits scenebecause of him too laugh.gif Rocket and Gamora were cool too, I liked the former taking out everyone when he was looking after the ship even though he did end up being captured. Can't wait to watch it again!!

Many fabulous scenes, great cast and characters, love the soundtrack over the sci fi action and emotion, just like the first movie. Where it lost it a bit was in the plot structure in the lead up/middle of the movie where the Planet scene dragged and seemed a bit needlessly drawn out - not that it was long in absolute terms, it just grated and a more significant menace introduced earlier would have worked better.

8/10 though, and plenty to love. Film of the year so far (ahead of Hidden Figures).

Posted by: J▲hq 4th May 2017, 03:29 PM

I don't think I enjoyed it as much as the first movie and found some of the plot hard to follow, but this is definitely one of my favourite superhero franchises to watch, the characters are so likeable. Anything with Baby Groot, Rocket, Mantis or Drax was great.

But I think the best part was "I am Groot" dotted throughout the credits. laugh.gif

Posted by: Mack 5th May 2017, 07:50 AM

Is it definitely worth a watch?

100%

The general consensus seems to be that although it's not as consistent or coherent as the first movie, it's still an enjoyable, fun superhero flick!

I am having serious withdrawls lmao. I need to see it again! </3 I have come to the conclusion that Groot (particularly Baby Groot) is my all time favourite character in any movie! wub.gif I LOVE HIM!

Posted by: danG 5th May 2017, 09:50 AM

Really loved seeing this. Agree that Baby Groot was brilliant and so cute. heart.gif but even without him the film was proper amazing.

Posted by: Joe. 5th May 2017, 11:05 AM

The film has mainly made me excited for the Guardians to join the Avengers in Infinity War (LESS THAN A YEAR!!), Thor and Spiderman look great too.

Am I right in thinking the Avengers will be going up into space for Infinity War? Or is Thanos coming to earth? I highly doubt Nebula is going to manage it on her own laugh.gif I'm getting Black Widow withdrawals.

Posted by: Mack 6th May 2017, 07:34 PM

Awesome film this was. Baby Groot is a legend. Volume 3 bring it on.

Posted by: Severin 20th May 2017, 02:33 PM

A bit late to the party but I agree with what appears to be the general consensus - It's good, really good, but nowhere near as good as the first.
Why?
First of all the unexpectedness of the original is lost and that was a major factor I think.
There's much less of a focus in the storytelling and it comes across as trying to cram too much in. The film does not even a credible villain until the final third! SPeaking of which Kurt Russell is as reliable as ever but the character is a bit two dimensional and there was nothing you couldn't predict about his and Quill's plot.
Almost every character appears to have had a contrived emotional issue inserted, none of which are particularly new or given enough time to focus on. The most intriguing of which I found to be Nebula's. They could have made an entire movie about her motivation and backstory and it would have been more intriguing than what we did get. It might've been potentially too dark for this film however. The other option, that I thought might've been fun was to turn her and Gamorra into a Wyle E. Coyote vs Roadrunner device. It would've been fittingly silly.
Some of the set pieces were great - Rocket's defence, the opening and the Gamorra/Nebula fight stood out.
Overall a strong 7 or 8/10 (I haven't quite decided) compared to the originas's 10/10

The first film is something that you watch just once and its enough
