Mark Cavendish has been left out of Great Britain's team to compete in the World Road Championships in Yorkshire.

Cavendish, 34, had earlier been named in the Team Dimension Data line-up for the 2019 Tour of Britain.

But the 2011 world champion was not included in the long list announced by British Cycling for the Worlds which take place from 22 to 29 September.

The Vuelta has been good so far! Enjoying the amount the Red Jersey's been passed around, however I feel like Roglic has it for a good while now what with his 2 minute lead. Also enjoying Edet's presence in the Top 10 - I've always liked watching him but he hardly ever gets any success.

Shame to see Pogacar lose time yesterday, I've been enjoying such a young rider light up the race. 21 minutes between 1st and 10th though blink.gif

I would talk about the Tour of Britain as well, but... well there's not exactly much to talk about.

Frenchman Remi Cavagna sealed his first Grand Tour stage win on a day that featured mid-stage controversy in the Vuleta a Espana on Friday.

He launched a solo attack with just under 25km of stage 19 to go and held off his pursuers by five seconds.

Race leader Primoz Roglic was in a crash which split the peloton 65km out.

Alejandro Valverde's Movistar team - against cycling convention - then attacked, but eventually slowed and Roglic was able to rejoin the peloton.

Movistar's move angered many in the race, with fellow Spaniard Omar Fraile, who rides for Astana, remonstrating strongly with Valverde, who is in second place overall.

With Roglic winning the Vuelta and Pogacar finishing 3rd on his first major race (with an INCREDIBLE breakaway) I think Slovenia are quite clearly on the map for the future of cycling!

I also enjoyed seeing both the oldest and youngest men in the race on the podium in 2nd and 3rd.

Bahrain-Merida rider Kristijan Koren and sports director Borut Bozic have been given two-year bans for doping by the International Cycling Union.

The Slovenian pair were provisionally suspended in May as part of the Operation Aderlass doping inquiry.

Koren's violations relate to 2011 and 2012 when he was with the former Liquigas team, while Bozic's relate to 2012 while a rider with Astana.

Ex-British Cycling technical director and Team Sky head coach Shane Sutton furiously denied claims he is a "doper" before storming out of Dr Richard Freeman's medical tribunal.

Dr Freeman alleges the testosterone he ordered to British Cycling headquarters in 2011 was on behalf of Sutton.

In staggering, confrontational exchanges between Sutton and Dr Freeman's lawyer, Mary O'Rourke QC, Sutton repeatedly denied this and her claim he doped during his racing career.

Dr Richard Freeman's tribunal has been adjourned until next year on medical grounds.

The former British Cycling and Team Sky medic has been accused of ordering testosterone to British Cycling's headquarters in 2011 to boost an athlete's performance, which he denies.

The tribunal was set to last until 20 December. He is yet to give evidence.

Former Great Britain cyclist Jess Varnish has won the right to an appeal hearing in her employment case against British Cycling.

The 29-year-old failed in an initial attempt to contest her tribunal defeat in January but an appeal can now be heard, probably within six months.

Varnish argued that she should be considered an employee of British Cycling or the funding agency UK Sport.
